Excellent Homeopathic Remedy Reference
Some of the medical info is dated in this book, as it to be expected as it's 5 years old now, but the reference on the Homeopathic Remedies is just fabulous. I bought it for that alone (that is most of the book anyway), i love how she explains which remedy is for what. Just excellent and i bought it on that merit alone. Great reference, worth the $$

This book is absolutely worth having.
This book is concise, well-written and informative. It gives detailed information about various herbs and homeopathic remedies and specifically cites interactions and effects.

The women who wrote the book took great care in not insulting their readers while maintaining a very accesible, easy to read style.

I could not recommend this book more!

Examines changing race relations and perceptions
First Black Actors On The Great White Way tells the stories of the actors, critics and others involved in the production of Three Plays for a Negro Theater in the early 1900s, examining changing race relations and perceptions in light of both wartime and theater production of the times. An intriguing survey of black acting's changes in an early period of American rights issues just emerging.

Neal's Yard Natural Remedies

Excellent book for self-help alternative healthcare.
Another excellent book by Susan Curtis covering the use of Aromatherapy, the Bach Flower Essences, Herbs, and Homoeopathy. The Introductory chapter includes: a short lesson in herbology with gathering herbs, making infusions, decoctions, tinctures, compresses and poultices; a brief discussion of Classical Homoeopathy; the use of essential oils through massage, inhalations, compresses, baths, with some background in Aromatherapy; and information on how to use the flower essences and Resque Remedy. The major portion of this book is a Repertory of A-Z ailments (from abrasions to wrinkles) and references in each catagory for Aromatherapy, Bach Flowers, Herbal, and Homoeopathic remedies (first aid potencies only). A list of suppliers is included; as well as, contacts in the U.K. and U.S.A. for further information. Her Bibliography references some very qualified aromatherapists, herbalists, homoeopaths and Bach Flower authors. I had Neal's Yard Natural Remedies 24 hours when a relative called asking about chickenpox; I grabbed this book and was able to read to them 4 different methods of alternative care. I have always liked Susan Curtis' books, this is no exception. A great book for the beginner and those advanced in their knowledge of healthcare issues.

Jake Drake
I read the book Jake Drake Know-it all.
I thought that this book was a ok book .I think that the story line is a little bit young of a book for a kid my age it is more for kids from 6 to 8 years old that like science math and and computers and is a pretty good reader and speller. This book is about a kid that love's computer.

educational - and funny!
My 3rd grade son just read this book and LOVED it. It introduced him to how a science fair works and taught him about the scientific method - observation, question, hypothesis, method, result, conclusion. However, this wasn't just a dull science story. The author uses a lot of humor and there were several underlying themes in the story.

Jake Drake really wants to win first prize (a Hyper-Cross-Functional Bluntium Twelve Computer System)at the science fair. To do so, he shuns his best friend who wants to be his partner on the project because Jake doesn't want to share the prize. When his friend decides to drop out of the contest because the class "know-it-alls" have been flaunting their projects and he knows he won't win, Jake realizes that he's not having fun working alone on his project and invites his friend to be his partner. Suddenly, the project becomes fun and winning doesn't seem to matter any more. The result...sorry, you'll have to read the book!

Wonderful introduction to the world of New Mexico's cuisine!
This is a super introduction to the habit-forming, varied cuisine of New Mexico! The recipes are tested in the Cooking School, so you can be sure that they are workable. Since I have attended three classes at the school, it is with confidence that I recommend this book. The recipe for New Mexican Green Chile and Cabbage Soup with Sausage alone is worth the price! There is a good list of sources for Southwestern ingredients in the back. My only criticism is that I find the layout of the index to be confusing.

Pretty pictures, great gift
This Dover little Book has ten pictures of the delicate creatures. The prettiest is a flying fairy with a wand. Others include a small fairy atop a tortoise, one riding a frog, a little elf with a mouse friend, and other fairies and elves with flowers. They make a great treat for youngsters or others who like fairies.

Not what I was hoping for....
I rarely say this, but this is a book that I regret purchasing. The recipes sound interesting but many of the items I would have to order. They are generally items that I have not heard of before or are expensive essential oils. Even though I am a soap maker, the ingredients still were not what I consider to be easily accessible. I ordered other books by Janice Cox and those books were so much more enjoyable and I know I will make many of the cosmetics/facials. I found myself skipping through pages in the book by Susan Curtis because it seemed to read more like a textbook. This is a book I will not use often.

For The Beginner! Home Use Only!
This book is great for the beginner and for home use. If you are looking for practical information or for resale ... this is NOT the book.

Fantastic!! Lots of bang for the buck.
Probably the best kept secret on homemade personal care products. This one is infinitely better than more expensive books I've seen. Comprehensive information, beautifully presented. Nothing trendy or trivial. Loads of easy, laboratory-tested recipes and great color photos. Very clear, step-by-step instructions on making deluxe vegetable-based cosmetics for five different skin types. Among the many topics covered: Skin, body and hair care, natural hair dyes, several types of liquid, cream and lotion bases, herbal preparations, use of essential oils, fragrancing, perfumes, toothpastes, mouthwashes and general health issues. An excellent glossary of herbs and cosmetic ingredients is included. London-based Neal's Yard Remedies deserves the loyalty of their international clientele. I wish the U.S. had a few of their wonderful shops. While you're at it, "The Bath and Body Book" by Stephanie Donaldson is a perfect companion volume. Beyond gorgeous and reasonably priced. Superb information on homemade skin care products and inexpensive ways to create some of the most luxurious bathrooms imaginable. Breathtaking color photos. Also sold by Amazon.com.
