Statistics won't remain static anymore
Nowadays every spreadsheet program such as Excel or 123 come with a complete Statistics module that can crunch the numbers in an instant and give you a complete analysis of any set of numbers, leaving those who grew up with MINITAB in awe.

However, what these powerful programs won't and can't help you, is in grasping the meaning it. When to decide when to reject or accept a null hypothesis. Let alone what all that means. This is where this CD-ROM/ book set come into play.

The program provides a very comprehensive introductory course in Statistics. It has some very interesting videos on real life applications to Statistics, more than 200 self score test questions and a very comprehensive and logically structured text.

Perhaps this product won't replace a tutor, but it definitely help Students, Home Schoolers, or anybody interested in Statistics to increase their understanding of this some times obscure art. I think it is definitely a winner.

Great product!
I know when I earn a score of 100% on a section, that I really do understand the material, and have not simply memorized it. I am able to apply those concepts to real-world situations, analyze data, and form conclusions. If this is what a statistician does, I'm seriously considering pursuing a career in this field. I never thought math could be "fun"...until now! This is a great product!

The only Mornington Crescent Guide you'll ever need! Or get.
Well, I'll start out the game with a bold, unorthodox move: Lancaster Gate. Your turn, and please remember that choosing alternate Sunday-only stations are not valid in the Amazon.com championship versions of the game, that Aldwych Station, though closed, is still a valid choice when backed into one of Mr. Garden's patented cross-hatch ploys, and of course I shouldn't need to remind you that choosing Jubilee Line Extension stations is still regarded as hopelessly amateur; should you choose to counter with Canada Water, you will be met with derisive giggles. Your move.

If the above doesn't mean anything to you, you're not a fan of the bewildering game of Mornington Crescent, and this is not the book for you. Go pick up a Bill Oddie birding book instead. On the other hand, if the above inspired you to snap out "Gants Hill" with authority and a smirk, then sprint, don't crawl, to pick up the only *authorized* Mornington Crescent companion (all others are mere shadows).

Seriously (and at the risk of ruining the joke) this is a humor book based on the popular BBC radio quiz show "I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue." British quiz shows like these, far from being a challenge to ordinary citizens to answer tough trivia, are more frequently a showcase for celebrities to show off their comic skills (think "Whose Line is It Anyway" rather than "Who Want to Be a Millionaire"). By far the most cheer-eliciting segment of ISIHAC is "Mornington Crescent," a round-table game in which the panelists must name London Underground stations, and the first to name Mornington Crescent is the winner. Sound simple? Well, it would be...if there were truly any rules other than to be funny while doing so...

If you're a fan of BBC radio comedy and you're in on the joke, this book is a must have, with Mornington Crescent history, Q&As, recipes, profiles, short stories (Charles Dickens versus Lewis Carroll in an especially ruthless and deadly game of MC)--everything a serious player of the game needs to know.

Except the rules.

Well, you can't expect them to give away *all* the answers, can you?

An Unbelievably Compelling Read...
i read this book for the newly formed Book Club at my school...i knew nothing about the book, and joined because a)i have a dearth of books ive been interested in reading b)free pizza

anyways, this book was more than a pleasant surprise...Alex Flinn's characters are believable, and i can find friends in my life for each character in the book...Nick is a character thats been done before in other novels, the guy w/the perfect life:good looks, brains, popularity etc...but hes the one that really has it the worst...hiding behind his facade, he lives a life of lies and nobody knows the hell of his life at home w/his father, and he mirrors his life through his treatment of his girlfriend, Caitlin...BREATHING UNDERWATER tells the tale of Nick's path to discovery/admission of his problems, and how he comes to solve them and become a man

the novel is brought to us mostly as read from Nick's journal he must write by court order...at first sarcastic in his entries, Nick soon finds solace in its pages, and pours his soul into his writing, letting us see the contradiction of his actions and thoughts...we come to know he is a well-meaning young man who doesnt know any better than how he acts, and who has serious self-confidence issues, and suffers from intense paranoia and a desire to be accepted...the novel gives us brief glimpses of his life at the present, after the whole incident w/his girlfriend, who filed a restraining order, and we see what he has to endure, and, knowing him through his novel, understand this can only make things worse...you feel his frustration throughout the novel, as he truly loves Caitlin, but shows it in the poorest of ways

BREATHING UNDERWATER is a novel which touches on domestic violence, but makes it accessible to all readers, especially teenagers, who may not understand exactly what an abusive relationship is...it makes an interesting story w/obvious real life themes, real life emotions, and semi-real life results...read this book, it is one that will make you wonder, make you think, and make you more aware of your actions towards others...great novel

The voice and conflict in Breathing Underwater
As I read Breathing Underwater, the voice of Nick was so clear...so "male" that I thought the author was a male. Imagine my surprise to discover Alex Flinn is a woman. By writing the novel in first-person point of view, we, the readers, get to see what is in the mind of Nick.
I recommend this book highly for teenagers, male and female. Nick is an obsessive, abusive person who takes his anger out on his girlfriend, Caitlin. I don't think he realizes how horrible he is to her until he sees how Leo, an acquaintance from anger-management class, treats his girlfriend. He can see what Leo does to his girlfriend and ask himself, "Did I do that to Caitlin?" Unfortunately, there are people like Nick who abuse their girlfriends. Maybe reading this novel will serve as a wake-up call for young boys in similar situations, and also for young girls like Caitlin, who is a girl with low self-esteem who puts up with Nick's abuse too long...until he savagely beats her.
I thought the author did well with incorporating internal and external conflicts in the book. Nick's major conflict is internal, in my opinion. He must stand up to his father, who physically abuses him, and control his anger. He cannot control his father and what his father did to him in the past, but he can control himself and he has to in order to break the cycle of violence and be different from his father.
Although the book was mostly dark, I think it had a hopeful ending. I won't ruin the ending by telling it. I can only suggest you read the book, if you haven't already.

Breathing Underwater
Breathing Underwater, written by Alex Flinn, is an excellent book for high school students to read. The main character, Nick, seems to have the perfect life of a sixteen year old. He is smart, rich, popular, and has a beautiful girlfriend. When a fight with his girlfriend results in Nick's physically attacking her, he is ostracized at school. Consequently, he has to take anger management classes and write a daily journal. He realizes by the end of the book, how much he has to learn to cope with his problems. It is unique to read a story like this from a male point of view.
