WOW
wow simply wow, ummmm not sure what else to say 5 stars speak for themselfs, this is THE book on the end game and well worth the money

Yes, you need this book
If you have played long enough to get to the endgame with some regularity, get this book. It covers all the basics, giving guidlines and reinforing the fact that caculation always wins out over rules. I found the knight ending particularly tricky, but this book give all the themes neccesary to form a plan. What ? you're only interested in the middle game? Knowing the endgame will help your middle game too, because you will see opprutinties to simplify to a favorable endgame.

Not just for advanced players
I'm an unrated amateur just beginning endgame study and I have found this book to be very helpful. In fact it contains the first explanation of the procedure for KBN v. K that I've read that was clear and simple enough to allow me to master this particular endgame. Although Pandolfini's Endgame Course is probably the best endgame book for beginners, it really just gives one position after another in an exercise format; it does not do a very good job of explaining general principles and procedures for you to generalize to your own games. Fundamental Chess Endings fills that hole very nicely. While I admit that it may be a bit heavy to serve as a beginner's only endgame source, it makes a perfect companion to - and greatly enhances my results from - Pandolfini. Between these two books I think I've found an ideal endgame course.

Easy Candida Recipes
I thought this book was very helpful. What I liked most was the "rainbow meal plan" which listed the vegetables and meat combinations you could have on this diet at every meal. Because there are so many vegetables/meat combinations to choose from you shouldn't get bored. The plan also recommends steaming for all your food so it's easy to prepare - all you need is water, a pot and a steamer. The downside is you do have to chop a lot of veggies - however, it's worth it! I also had a hard time with another recipe which called for "Homemade Potassium Baking Powder" pg.83. In the recipe the book says to use potassium bicarbonate which can be ordered from a pharmacy. However, when I went to pick up my bicarbonate it had a skull and cross bone on the bottle and was rated somewhat toxic. When I talked to the pharmacist he said I needed to know what percentage of the potassium bicarbonate was called for because potassium bicarbonate is a strong base. Anyway I had no way to get that information so I skipped that recipe. So obviously the book should be more detailed about things like that. Yet even with this snaffoo I thought the book was helpful and still use most recipes.

An essential kitchen reference for the yeast intolerant.
Now in a thoroughly updated and expanded second edition, Pat Connolly's The Candida Albicans Yeast-Free Cookbook continues to offer the best and clearest explanation of the role good nutrition plays in helping to deal with yeast-related diseases and allergies. From Crowned Eggplant, Mint-Pea Salad, and Sweet Potato Souffle, to Fish in Butter-Ginger Sauce, Minestrone Soup, and A One-Pot Rainbow Meal, Connolly offers more than 150 delicious recipes for the yeast intolerant diner. Of special note are chapters devoted to "Eating Out"; "A Menu Sampler"; "Candida Folk Wisdom"; "Foods for the Yeast-Sensitive to Avoid"; and "Carbohydrates and Calories". The Candida Albicans Yeast-Free Cookbook is an essential, core title for the kitchen cookbook collection of any family with a yeast intolerant family member.

Mmmm, Tasty!
I found this book very helpful in the battle with yeast. The recipes are healthy, made from common ingredients, and quick and easy to prepare. They are also very flavorful. By avoiding the foods which promote the growth of Candida Albicans yeast, your body's natural immune defense can re-establish a healthy balance of micro-organisms for optimum health. Following the diets in this book, I noticed a difference immediatley, and was completley free of symptoms in two weeks. (I also used herbs to help fight the candida)

My Fatigue Explained
If you or someone you know suffers from fatigue, please buy this book. If you know of a child who is autistic or hyper or has learning problems, please buy this book for their parents. Dr. Crook's treatment program is a recommendation of a medicine from a doctor, along with watching what you eat, and other simple measures. Dr. Crook presented an excellent book, full of resources, actual patient scenarios, and changes to implement immediately. The book can be passed on to anyone's doctor easily because Dr. Crook explains that he himself is a doctor & states how he became involved treating yeast. He explains the symptoms of yeast overgrowth in the body, it's causes, and it's cures. The book gives so many cases of patients that it's easier to see how one patient's symptoms may differ from another's - but be related to your specific problem. I was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr virus and was told by my doctor that only my symptoms could be treated. Epstein-Barr is related to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & I have strugged with tiredness for years. This book has so helped me. I bought it on a Friday & am buying it Monday to take to my doctor. I am a born-again Christian & this book is an answer to my prayer. Please buy it for anyone you know who has suffered with Chronic Fatigue.

This book changed my health.
Since buying this book I have figured out that I am not crazy. About 7 months ago I had a stomach flu and had all the symptoms of a kidney infection. Being that I am only 24 I listened to all of my peers and took some antibiotics that one of my friends had. Sadly, it was amoxicillen. Well, since my immune system was down it caused the yeast in my body to grow. This book taught me that. I went from being a healthy 24 year old to a miserable ball of nerves within two weeks. I thought the stomach flu was just lingering but, after about two months I figured it was something else. I was sick for atleast 4 hours everyday. To make a long story short, I soon found out after that, that my aunt has had Candita for eight years. She suggested I research Candita, and this was the book I stumbled apon. After reading the book I realized that the reason I was feeling so ill is because I was consuming so much citric acid. The reason for that was that the diet my doctor put m! ! e on was to bring my digestive system back up, it included apples, bananas and a slow integration into other fruits. About a week after I started the Fruit-free, Suger-free, Yeast-free diet. I felt 150% better. It has been about 6 months since I started that diet and can slowly work some foods I couldn't have before into my diet. I am not cured but, I can atleast function now. I am starting to feel like a 24 year old again.

Tracking Down Hidden Food Allergies
We ONLY use this book to teach the Elimination Diet for allergies to foods. It is easy to follow, with enough options so that it doesn't make meal planning boring.

The best of Dr. Crook's books
I use this book extensively when counselling my patients on
food allergies. This book is actually more useful than the more famous "Yeast connection" and has better references. practical, concise and entirely useful

Good Resource
This a good resource for people who are choosing not to use medication to help manage AD/HD. The book give a basic idea of what AD/HD is. It offers suggestions for natural ways to help with AD/HD such as changes in diet, toxin removal, biofeedback. etc. The suggestions in the book may also pertain to ADDults.

Solving the puzzle
Laura Stevens provides a much needed road map for parents seeking help for their children with ADHD. By providing step-by-step instructions, sound nutritional knowledge, excellent examples, problem-specific narratives, and good, common sense day-to-day practices (i.e.-recipes), she is eliminating the frustration in the search for answers for current and future parents of children with ADHD. This book provides the type of aid that only could have been given by someone who has had first hand experience in raising children with ADHD. Parents can now learn what to do directly from the book rather than waiting while much of the medical community is playing catch-up to scientific literature.

12 Effective Ways to Help Your ADD/ADHD Child
This book is superb in every respect. It's comprehensive, yet concise, well organized and reader-friendly. It contains information which parents cannot find elsewhere.

Stevens is a mother and highly educated professional who is now carrying out research at Purdue University on the critically important role of essential fatty acids on children with ADHD.

In this book she gives parents and professionals a step-by-step approach for helping children. In my opinion, this book will be a bestselling book for parents in the first decade of the 21st Century.

HUGE help for those suffering from intestinal yeast!
This book is one of the most comprehensive books on intestinal yeast and its trauma I have seen to date. Just by taking some of the recommendations: acidophilus, a multi-vitamin, and severely reducing the sugar, yeast and pasta in my diet has made an incredible difference in my symptoms and the way I feel in the past month. I recommend this to anyone with intestinal yeast because the improvement, though not 100% is very drastic! I am feeling better every day!

An easy to follow handbook on treating yeast disorders
Dr. Crook's "The Yeast Connection Handbook" is an easy to read, self-help guide to understanding and treating the problem of yeast disorders. This book I found much more "user friendly" than the original version "the Yeast Connection" because of how it is layed out: content, font-type, chapters, etc.

Dr. Crook gives hundreds of references and case studies that can assist the patient when talking with their own physician. This was especially helpful for me and my husband when dealing with an HMO doctor that had little knowledge of the subject or its treatment.

This is a valuable book for ANYONE (man, woman and child) that has had various ailments or recurring infections and wants to get healthy!

Here's to understanding "the yeast connection" and a better life!

Yeast Connection Handbook
Dr. Crook's book saved my life. Before his program I suffered from blurred vision, headaches, weight gain, low energy, dizzy spells, depression and a multitude of other ailments. Since January I have lost 30 pounds, have clear thinking, improved vision, a positive outlook on life, and boundless energy. I am ordering two more copies of this book; one for my daughter and one for my best friend Carole who is in the hospital. The book is an easy read, makes a lot of sense, easy to follow and the recipes are tasty and filling. My husband also is on the program with me. He no longer suffers from heartburn and his cholesterol has dropped over 150 points. This works and we are blessed to have Dr, Crook researching and continuing to assist others. Thank you.

Need a natural approach program, not drugs
[this] book was ok, and I read [the authors'] first book. [The authors are] right on with diet and what to eat and what not to eat but perscritive drugs is not the answer. They only sugar coat the problem. Have to remove with a good candida program and lots of cultures that are natural. Why won't...doctors get back to basic and start giving advice the natural way and don't chemical drugs that damage other organs like your liver and kidneys.

One Helpful Tool
I have read the previous reviews, and I can honestly say that I recommend this book. Listen, this is just one tool in the search for answers. First of all, anyone who does not think that candida causes severe symptoms and illness has never had the problem!! Only through months and years of trial and error with doctors, anti-fungal drugs, and diet can you truly understand what is is like to live with CRS. So, take this book for what it is, one tool in the fight against candida. Educate yourself, but don't just look to one book, doctor, friend, etc., for all of the answers.

Finally found what I was looking for!
Due to constant poor health with no cause that any doctor could find, this book was recomended by a family friend when I was 15. Most unfortunately, I did not open it until I was 20. As I looked through it,I was amazed to find the answer I have been looking for for years. Yeast is more than an infection "down there," it can affect your whole life, causing fatigue, depression, weak immune system, irritability and more. This book gives examples of personal experience, which I could finally relate to. It explains how yeast can effect you, why it is there, and what you can do about it- which can be as easy as changing your diet in some cases. This was my saving grace! I took the book to my doctor and had to tell her what was wrong with me, since they never thought to look at yeast. After some testing, it was determined that this was indeed my problem, and now I am doing much better. If you think this may be your problem, read this! It could improve your life tremendously.

Not for the first weeks of your diet or for sensitivites
I found this book to contain many recipes that contain ingredients that I can't have (I'm in the early stages of treatment so fruits, nuts, some grains, etc. are out for now) and many ingredients that Dr Crook suggests avoiding for a while in newer books. I'm sure the recipes will be more usefull after I've completed treatment and I'm working on maintenance, but that's not what I needed right now. Some tips on how to cook beans and veggies were somewhat helpfull but I think there are better books out there for the early staged of treatment. Consider getting it from your library before buying it.

I agree with the above review...
At the onset, the book looks chock-full of great, easy recipes for those working on yeast problems. But to actually make the recipes...I wonder if the authors actually tried them out. Ugh! Maybe their tastebuds are messed up. There are comments such as "Delicious! Satisfying!" Don't think so. Some tasteless things, and one of the breads didn't turn out like it was supposed to...what a mess...and the ingredients were expensive! Even though the directions were followed to a "t", it didn't work. But our dogs enjoyed it. The section about veggies and how to select the right ones was nice. If you are just starting a yeast-free program, be careful...some of these foods you can't have early in the yeast-free eating process. Some what worthwhile as a reference guide. Just keep an open mind that some dishes won't taste the way you would expect them to.

Excellent Guide for Food Allergies
I have really enjoyed this book. I understand why the other reviewers rated it as they did though. I also have to stick to a much more restricted diet than the average person on a yeast-free & food allergy plan, however I found it easy to substitute items I could not have with those that I could. My favorite parts of this book are the section on selecting and preparing vegetables and the baked recipes (for which I do a great deal of substitutions). It may be a book for more advanced cooks and bakers, which I am, but it's been a great asset to me and I appreciate having it as a resource.

Don't Buy a Chilton's Subaru Legacy Manual
This book has errors of omission and commission. It will contradict itself from one section to the next, and doesn't portray information in a coherent format. I have learned to regard the guidance given in the book with a certain amount of skepticism. Only recommend this book if you absolutely cannot find anything else.

Worse than worthless
This manual is garbage. I've tried to use it for three separate jobs on my 96 Legacy and every time it has proven worthless. The latest example concerns the camshaft position sensor. The manual lists trouble codes that would confirm the diagnosis, but lacks sufficient info to get the car to display the codes. The book gives only a vague arrow in the general direction of the sensor location. It details the steps to remove the timing belt in order to change the sensor on the Legacy. As I look at it, and as my mechanic assures me, the sensor can be removed and replaced on a 96 Legacy without disassembling anything else. Worse than worthless, this book would have me spending hours on a 2 minute job!

I'm going to buy the Haynes book, and never buy another Chilton.

Disappointing
This book claims to cover Subarus up through 1996. The cover shows a '95-'96 Outback, which is exactly what I have. I bought the book to help me fix a faulty power window switch. In the section on removing the door panel around the switches, the newest Legacy shown is a '91, whose door panel does not have power switches at all, and is completely clipped on and must be pried off. After two of us pried around the switch area on my own car with no success, we ditched the book and discovered that the switch area of the door is firmly screwed in, and in multiple layers. Had we followed the book and kept prying, we would have damaged the door. I understand that you can't cover every difference on every model in such a wide range of model years, but I don't think it wise for the book to imply it is complete when following the book could end up in damage to your car because of inaccuracy or incompleteness. I also couldn't find information I needed on the glove box hinge and how the front passenger seat anchors to the floor. I have used Haynes manuals on my two previous cars, and am going back to buying those. They are more model-specific and contain more relevant information.
