Sensitive, Humorous and Fascinating
With a wit similar to Dorothy Parker, and a unique personality all her own, Pauline Avery Crawford was one the more interesting American women during World War II. Robertson does an excellent job atpresenting her spirit as well as her paranoia, and in drawing a complex portrait of a very strong-willed and brilliant woman. Highly recommended! Her poetry is not to be missed.

Great for planning a hospital VBAC
Natural Childbirth After Cesarean begins (as most books on the VBAC subject do) by refuting the old wive's tales...ruptured uterus, vaginal breech deliveries dangerous, etc. I am pleased with the fact that both writers are speaking from experience and not just medical or personal opinion (not all authors on this subject can say the same). On a more personal level, this book made me search out my own reasons for wanting a VBAC and emphasized that knowing this reason is crucial to the success of the birth. However, as someone considering home birth I thought that the book was a little too "pro-hospital" and mentioned a home birth only for those "extremists". This view was not backed up with any research but stemmed from personal opinion, which was a little disappointing. This aside, this book should be included in your "top ten" list as you do your VBAC research.

Helpful for any VBAC, not just natural
I loved this book. The authors' stories of their own VBACs are inspiring, and while they really promote natural childbirth, there is good information here that will help you even if you are not sure that is what you want. If you have a breech baby, be SURE to read this. One of the authors had 4 breech babies and she gives lots of suggestions for turning them!

Best book I've found for someone considering a VBAC.
This is a wonderful book for anyone planning a natural birth after having a previous cesarean. It's very informative with a wonderful labor checklist at the back for helping with many situations that may arise during labor and delivery. Take it with you to the hospital

Three Legged Race
THREE LEGGED RACE

The books name is "Three Legged Race" The author's name is "Charles P. Crawford" the book is called Three Legged Race because it is about three kids who help each other get trough the pain of their accident. Also because Kirk said "This is like a Three Legged Race" and that you need somebody to get to the finish line.

I Brent had an accident going in through a trapdoor. It was in the summer when it happened. My family took me to the hospital; I don't think the hospital was a good summer vacation, I found a friend called Kirk he is very cool, he is also very funny. Then I found another friend named Amy, I think I am very dynamic. My major conflict is my accident and having to go to the hospital.

My friends Amy and Kirk and me start to tap about our parts. Also start to make up some crazy ideas to make the future more interesting then we become a team and felt the truth of Kirk's comment. He said "it is like a three legged race," I think you can't make it to the finish line by yourself. Then we all were having so much fun we forgot we were in a hospital. Then we couldn't see the future ahead.

I think you should read this book because it talks about friendship. Also because it talks about how "you can't make it to the finish line by yourself" and how "It is a Three Legged Race". This also talks about how friends help you get trough the tough and tough times. This is a very very good book it helps you find the real you and explains how real life and how reality is, get this book in stores and read it you will be amazed.

The conclusion of the story is that they helped each other get past their feelings. Also that they all got to get out of the hospital and didn't have to stay in hospital anymore.

The Best Book Ever !!!!!!
I love Mr. Crawford. His writing is groovy and stimulating. He makes me want to read Harry Potter. But I like to play with my goldfish. I have Met Mr. Crawford,he was amazing in the arts of eating food. I love Mr. cRawford.

If your a ADO RDS programmer this is a must have
This is a great book because it shows you exactly what you need to know. They get to the point effectively with every topic. I like the real world questions being answered. Like client side or server side cursors. And topics on how to write the more efficient rs object. The only problem I have with this book is the writers lack of expertise with other databases. Like MS SQL server, and Sybase SQL server. Getting information on pitfalls with other database platforms would be invaluable. They kind of tickled us with the Oracle info, I want more now.

Awesome book no matter what you skill level!
Awesome book for somebody wanting to learn more about ADO/ASP/Database Interaction. I was dumped into the middle of a project with very little ADO knowledge and this proved extremly helpfull through my journey. I have recommended this to all of my friends interested in the subject and countless others who ask me for good books.. Definitly worth every penny!

And you think you know ADO?
I first bought this book for the RDS part since I've been working with ADO since it got out. I tought I knew ADO and even though I knew a lot about it, I've learned as much about ADO than about RDS with this book!

Good for any programmers working with ADO, as always, Wrox made it possible for beginners to understand the book and for experienced programmers to learn new stuff.

Another must by Wrox and I'm waiting to get a hand on the "Professional Ado 2.5 Rds Programming With Asp 3.0" that should be coming out soon.

Letter Perfect
My Summary:
This book is about three boys, Chad, B.J. and Toad. They plan little crimes for practice. If they succeed in the practice, they will plan a big crime. Though originally they were not supposed to actually carry out the crime. They leave letters anonymously to their hated teacher MR. Patterson. The letters are demands for money . If he does not give them the money, they will give a letter to the school board sent from one of his Navy friends. It says that he cracks under pressure and he had a military background. This little joke is getting bigger and bigger. They are ruining this poor man's life and are committing some serious crimes. Will these kids get caught? What will the teacher do about it? Read this book to find out.

It is a pretty good book. Some language may not be appropriate for young readers.

Great book, late 12's-adult
This is a great book about 3 bored kids who want to put some excitement into their lives. They start doing little crimes, which get bigger, and bigger and bigger . . . Now it's way over their heads. The person who tells the story, who is one of the trio, isn't sure he likes whats going on. What would you do if you had to chose between friends, and what might ruin you forever.

Great Pre-Teen read
I read this book when I was 11 years old. I'm 27 now. It stuck with me for so many years that I read it again as an adult.

Although the story might be a bit dated for the 90's, the author conveys a sense of morality, consequences and compassion. A great read for pre teens!

Alot covered, none very well
I have to agree with previous reviewers, this book DOES cover quite a bit. From DHTML to IIS Applications, but it has to be considered a beginner to intermediate book on Web programming in VB6. Even though the long-term viability of Web Classes is under question, the utter lack of any quality material on the ONE thing Microsoft touts as "Web" enabled in VB6 is extremely disappointing for a book so expensive. You can debug problems with your objects in VB6 with WebClasses that you can't perform with an ASP page and a compiled dll. Do they even mention this? No.

For the interested, you can find most of the material discussed in this book by simply looking on MSDN or other web sites for articles on the subjects you're interested in. With multiple authors, that's all you will get out of this book, anyway.

Book was very useful to me professionally. But not perfect.
I rated this 5 stars because it has the most useful writeup on writing Server Components in VB for use with ASP - chapters 9-11. I wanted to do this and had trouble getting working samples and explanations. I feel that industrial strength ASP is very ugly and unweildy if you don't encapsulate the code into components. MSDN has lots of reference material about this but little, if any, useful "how to" stuff that i could find.

This book showed me how to do exactly what i wanted to do.

Other than that, it is a good introduction into a good number of web concepts, old and new. The first 3 chapters were a good overview of Microsoft web concepts and techniques. The writeup on web classes, if you like them, is good. I really liked the CGI case study including how to implement standard input/output via the win32 API.

The relatively free use of various win32 API functions in VB help overcome a general fear of mixing VB and CC++ functionality.

The book was a bit large but was well organized. In general it gave me a much higher opinion of Wrox books.

Covers all aspects of VB6 Web Programming!!!
Having purchased many other WROX books, I was eagerly awaiting this one for a current project. When it arrived I read through it like a mad man. Soaking up everything I possibly could. The examples are very clear and there are plenty of them! It covers everything from IIS, ASP and ADO to RDS, SQL, DHTML, MTS and WebClasses. All in one book! Plenty of examples with detailed descriptions and tables explaining the various methods for each function. I definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about using VB6 for web development.

Junk
This book is a waste of paper and my money! You can get more info from the online help in Visual Studio or Web Matrix for free.

Where's the beef !?!?
This book is terribly written, and in a lot of cases, misinformative. The author does not offer any insight to the various uses of properties and methods of the object structure, but simply states fundamental effects. Examples are the explanation of the HTMLButton.CausesValidation property... there is no explanation as to what is going to be validated when this is set TRUE.

Other serious oversights are misreferences. In one class he discusses the OnServerClick method, in other classes he refers to it as ServerClick.

Although the book is intended to be a programmer's quick reference, there is very little use of knowing the names of classes, properties, or methods if you are not given any explanation as to the effect such items will have in your programming.

...

Here's a Tip: save your money and try an ASP.NET for Dummies instead. ...
