God used this book to change my life! He opened my eyes to what HE wanted me to be, and for me to not live within my own "comfort zones". I was torn between being what God wanted me to be--a woman of strength, and what I wanted to be--a strong woman. When I am a woman of strength, I am walking in God's strength and not my own...and I am free to be all that He wants me to be! God has set me free and changed my way of thinking through this book! I highly recommend it to all women who desire to be all that God wants them to be; I have even been known to recommend it to men, too!

the women at my church is reading the book as a group discussion. People are being set free and actually redefining their past. I recommend this book to women who have been through ANYTHING. You can read it yourself and then recommend it to someone else :)

I believe this is the best weight loss book for several reasons. First it is bible based and I know that God cares how I take care of my body and how healthy I am. Where diet doctors and weight loss programs are there to make money first and if you fail they know you'll come back or try something else. This is a no fail program if you rely on God. It is a book that you can take with you no matter where you are. Short chapters to read and concentrate on. It is a gradual process. I lost 15 pounds on it. I was only 25 pounds overweight but I am only 5 foot tall. Every pound shows on a short person. This book can be done by a group of people or just one, it is very versatile. "I don't read fiction." This was my answer to a friend who suggested this book. (I read the book non-stop cover to cover.) It held my attention and interest. This is more than fiction. This is life. This is about a person who on the outside appeared to have it all, and, have it all together. What was happening on the inside? What was happening behind closed doors? What was happening to family and friends? What will happen when Jesus is allowed into each of the story characters life? My life? Your life? Many of the readers will be able to identify with the characters in this story. Then with this identification see the hope each one received in the person of Christ. I am looking forward to reading more of the books in this series. Thank you, Neva Coyle for opening up a new interest in reading for me.

This is another great study of human nature by Neva Coyle. Neva writes about how each member of a family handles life changes. I was drawn into the novel and felt like one of their family. I felt their concern. I felt their peace/strength as these concerns were given to God in prayer. Neva Coyle writes about a God personal to each of her characters. A God that is concerned and caring not just in crisis but all the time. I am looking forward to the next in this series. The two books - this and "A Door of Hope" - stand alone, yet the reader meets some of the same characters in both books. This is like meeting someone new and you have mutual friends.

Neva Coyle has written 30 progressive, short devotionals or lessons. Each three or four pages can be studied individually or in a small group. Neva Coyle has written this to gently lead the reader to a relationship with God. Jeremiah 31:3 "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness." In John 15 we read about the "vine life."

For me, this book brought tears - tears of sorrow over changes that need to be made - tears of joy over God's love, grace and mercy. John 15:9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love." As the reader understands God's goal of a personal, intimate relationship with His created, the author suggests practical ways to include friends, family, and neighbors in this goal. Want a book that will change your outlook on why you are here? This is it.

As a nutritionist and eating disorders specialist, I think this book is long overdue. It does an excellent job of helping people to realize that the standards of the world are not the standards of God and that genetics has a great deal to deal with weight.(Stunkard et al. An adoption study of human obesity. New England Journal of Medicine: 1986: 314:193-197). It also discusses how to deal with medical professionals and others who try to force you into an unnatural mold. The negative effects of dieting are discussed (i.e. dieting leads to other eating disorders, obsession with food,and/or often more weight gain). I highly recommend this book as people try to normalize their eating and get on with their lives with the recognition that we are not all supposed to be the same. Sometimes we are so caught up with life and our struggles seem too overwhelming that we either quit, deny or complain. Neva Coyle speaks from the deepest parts of her heart, penetrating the reader with truth about what God really wants. Sensitive, simple and spirit led is the way each chapter is laid out. You will be moved to tears, joy and a closer walk with God. Perfect for a new believer and necessary for the seemingly mature Christain who has taken for granted their "First" love. This will bless you and change you! We've all asked God what He wants with us, this will scripturally teach you not what He wants from us but what He wants for us. A book that you will refer to time and time again because it is so good.

This book was an answer to prayer. Not only did the authors teach me how God could free me from the bondages of obesity -- but the book is EDUCATIONAL!! When you really know what food consists of, and how your body responds - it is so much easier to make better choices.

I have never been more than 20 pounds overweight, but this book buttonholed me-up and down, tons of diets, diet pills! I have never been happy with my body. This book has lifted a huge burden off of me, teaching me that the goal is not to be thin, but to be healthy. To see that God wants me to obey and have self-control in the food arena was eye-opening, as I've always thought that eating anything was okay, it never hurts anyone and no one really could see how much I ate (I've always exercised a lot). I am now focused on eating healthy rather than depriving myself and it's working! I feel that God has blessed me with this special body, just like He has blessed all of us. I will always be referring back to this book to keep me inspired to obey.

this book not only touches the lives of overeaters but is helpful for anyone that is experiencing a compulsive disorder. the teaching on the Holy Spirit is wonderful and can be applied in so many areas of your life. thank-you neva and marie for such an inspiring study!!!

It may be hard to find, but it's worth your time. This series by Neva Coyle is interesting. It maybe a little extreme at times, but good Christian romance and suspense as well.

While the constant sobbing on Jen's part gets annoying and the ending is too sudden without a clear picture of the future or if the mystery is totally cleared up, it is still an book that kept my attention. I would have liked a more flowing plot with less choppiness, but am interested in reading her other work.
