My 2 year old daughter loves this book!
As I am typing this review my two year old daughter is looking at the picture of the "Big Egg" book and saying "Big Egg!" Each night we read many books together. She picks them out as we go. I can always tell which books she prefers based on the order in which they are picked. "Big Egg" is always one of the first books to be read. She loves the simple language and colorful pictures and I enjoy reading it to her repeatedly. It's fun to "act" out the different animal voices the Hen encounters on her search for the parent of the "Big Egg."

Sweet story that makes young readers laugh
Easy and fun to read, with nice values. The illustrations help make it funny also. A family favorite.

Favorite Book
Great book to start your child reading with. Big Egg is my 4 year old daughter's favorite book. The pictures and story are funny and interesting. I like it as well! This book gets my daughter's HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

Beautiful Book for children or adults!
I am 27 years old and I collect "Beauty and the Beast" books, and have about 60 books in my collection. It is my favorite fairy tale, and the story is timeless. I love to see it told in all different ways, especially with wonderful illustrations like these. I don't have any children, but will get this for my godchildren! "Bunny and the Beast" is my most recent acquisition, and it's an outstanding addition to my collection. I love it!

Beautifully Illustrated
This is not only a great childrens book but also a beautifully illustrated book for bull terrier collectors! The illustrations of the bull terrier are true to form and will add to any collectors library.

Fantastical!
Okay, so I just checked this out from the library yesterday and my kids (two daughters, ages 4 &6) were fighting over it! I don't usually do this so soon, but I ran out... and immediately bought a copy of it for my personal (keepsake) bookshelf. These honestly have to be the best illlustrations I've ever seen in a book -- period! Even my husband leafed through it and said, "Oh, you've got to BUY this book -- as soon as possible!" :) I enjoyed the story and pictures as much as my children did. This is bound to become a new "classic". My 6 y/o is an aspiring author and illustrator and seeing this book really inspired her to continue her efforts. Great book! Someone please give these ladies a medal. This is the kind of stuff kids should grow up on. Thank you Molly Coxe for a super re-telling of a classic and Pamela Silin-Palmer for your glorious artwork! :)

This book was funny, sad and happy all at the same time!
Hi! I am 6 years old and I love to read these books. This one was one of my favorites. Maxie and Mirabel are so funny. They will try anything to get find out about the snake. The are so worried. Maybe they should be but maybe they shouldn't be. This is a great book and I think parents should buy this book if their kids like to read!

I like this book because my mom did it.
I would like this book even if my mom hadn't written it. It tells interesting facts in a way that is a story, not just a scientific book. This book was for sale at the scholastic book fairs, and it has sold 130,000 copies. Your friend, Will Canine

"Hot Dog" Rates #1 in my Classroom!
I have begun to use these Road to Reading books in my resource classroom and the students love them. They especially loved Hot Dog. Many of the words are on the state mandated word lists for K-2. The pictures are terrific and the story is interesting and funny to the kids. I thought it was great too-in fact we all fell in love with the little "Hot Dog".

Excellent Kids starter book
This book was the first one our daughter (4) read by herself. It's pretty good and is at the level of the old "see spot run" books. It's about thirty pages and has nice color pictures.

R is for Radish
I like this book because their is a odd character it is the bunny. The bunny is a funny charcter because in a part it was recess time and he playing thing that he did not know how to play. He started playing jump rope and his teacher did it so fast that he couldn't believe it. Then he tried to jump rope and then recess was over. I suggest that people read this book.

This is one of my mom's best books.
This is my mom's first chapter book. It has short chapters and easy text. The illusrtrations are really cool and I think this is her best book because Radish (a girl rabbit who is in 2nd grade) gets into a lot of funny problems. The book is based on problems that I had when I was in second grade. I liked this book.

Coxe is a master!
Molly Coxe has written the perfect beginning reader for counting! The art work is magnificent. An extension activity for this book is to have children make their own artwork using popsicle sticks! The Step into Reading PLUS MATHS are the best thing going! (See other Step into Reading Plus Math books! )

Not a cat person, but liked the book!
These books (the "Early Step Into Reading" books ) have been a great confidence boost for my daughter. Yes, they are partially memorized, but she has learned to sound out words. This is the 3rd "early step" book for [my daughter], and by far the best, since it's based on more than one basic rhyme. I'm glad I bought the library binding. I know I'll use it for my younger daughter when she learns to read!

Good for chidren who have younger brothers or sisters.
This is an excellent book for chldren who are ready to read easy stories by themselves. This book has great illustrations and easy to follow dialogue. This is a good book for first graders and up to start reading. This is a great book to introduce to children who have just had a new baby brother or sister.

Great book!
I have a baby brother. He always gets all the attention. I feel my mother doesnt' have time for me any more. After reading this book, I know my mother and even my baby brother really do like me.

The book made me feel good. You should read it.

Encourages children to sneak onto Internet
Although my daughter loves Barbie, and I have no problem with that, I was shocked to read this book to her. The girl in the story waits until the parents go to bed and gets onto the Internet so she and her friend can communicate with and ultimately visit Barbie. I had to tell my daughter as we were reading the book that it wasn't okay to go onto the Internet at night when there aren't any parents around, so that they could ask an adult's advice online, without the parents finding out. It is a pretty strange mix of fantasy and reality. As much as I think girls should be encouraged to use technology, I found this book inappropriate for my seven year old daughter.
