Poot rules!
This has to be one of my favorite Coville books ever--and since I've collected about 50, that's saying something. This story continues where MY TEACHER IS AN ALIEN left off, and lets you know the story behind Duncan Dougal (the class bully). His life is pretty rough, seventh grade is going pretty badly, and he only has one nice teacher--Miss Karpou. When he finds out that one of the teachers at the school IS an alien and no one believes him, Duncan feels that he has to prove there's a threat.
He ends up getting his brain *fried* to increase its brain power--and meets the alien's pet, Poot. Poot has to be one of the most appealing sidekick-pets ever. A telepathic, green-glowing, shape-shifting slug, Poot instantly takes a liking to Duncan.
I don't want to reveal the ending, suffice to say that I highly recommend this book!

This is a Great Book
My Teacher Fried My Brains
By Bruce Colville

This book is about aliens who do something about Earth. They think we're poison! There is a boy named Duncan and he always gets into trouble. He zapped his brain and got smarter somehow, and meets Poot, a purple glowing slug.
I like this book because you never know what is going to happen next. Once Duncan got sucked into an alien ship. I didn't know what was going to happen to him.
I think the author wrote this book to make people wonder if there are aliens.

My Teacher Fried My Brains
I thought this book was good. It was suspenseful and you didn't know what would happen next. The book was about a kid named Duncan. He is not too bright until his principal also called the Mancatcher volunteers him to go to the front of the class in science and put a big machine on his head. Then someone turned the crank and it felt like ants were walking around his brain. Then he realized it made him smarter. He went back at night to the classroom and used it again. But he used it too many times and now he has five senses. He can hear the radio and tv in his head. He goes to the home economics teacher which he thinks she is not the alien but boy he's in for a surprise. If you want to know what happens to Duncan, you sould read My Teacher Fried My Brains.

Sarah's Unicorn
I remember this book so well. I waited for it after Foolish Giant came out. Then I was able to hear the story of A Monsters Ring before it was published. If you think Coville is a great author for children you should. Being a school teacher helped.
Sarah's Unicorn was one of the first books I was ever able to read on my own.

The First book I finished
When I was a little girl in my grade school library, I came across this book. I had never finished a book all the way through until then. I checked it out every year more than once, and read it time and time again. It is a great story, and I hope my daughter loves it as much as I do.

Childhood Memories
"Sarah's Unicorn" was my very first book I ever learned to read and as a little girl I loved it so much I had it memorized. I came on here in hope of finding my beloved story and I am incredibly sadened to find it is no longer sold. It's a shame such a great children's story is no longer available to everyone. I only hope children my age never forget the exsistence of unicorns like they have many other myths!

If You liked the first three you are sure to LOVE this one
As in the first three books our yong heros get mixed up in a sticky situation that will keep you glued to the pages. I am one of the "I was a Sixth Grade Alien" colletion's biggest fans and this was one of my favs. I hope that you will enjoy the book as much as i did!

The best book in the series so far!
I'm a big fan of Bruce Coville, (especially the "Sixth Grade Alien" books), and I must say, this is one of his best books yet. (Of course, I haven't read a lot of the newer ones, since I haven't had a chance to buy them yet.) A funny yet believeable plot, and also, Linnsy plays a more active part than usual, which is good. (She's one of my favorite characters.)

Crazy Over Peanut Butter
I LOVED this book it is very funny, and I couldn't put it down. It has many of the same characters as in Bruce Covile's I was a Sixth Grade Alien #1. In this story Pleskit tries a new food from Earth- Peanut Butter. Whenever Pleskit eats Peanut Butter he becomes girl crazy. This causes a great deal of trouble in the school and almost ruins the mission. Can Pleskit and Tim save the mission? Read and find out. You won't be disappointed.

You will read it over and over and over...
Jeremy Thatcher doesn't even look back while he is running away from Mary Lou Hutton's "Kiss of Death." So you're not srprised when he finds a street he's unfamiliar with. He walks into a magic shop, hoping to find something to make Mary Lou dissapear. Instead, he finds a ball of swirling colors and buys it. He finds some wierd instructions in the box it came in and decides to try them out. So he hatches a dragon, and with it comes a whole lot of friendship, adventure, and trust. This is an excellent book and I think you would enjoy it.

One of those stories that won't soon be forgotten.
I remember, a few years back, when I first read this book. I finished it in tears, but I absolutely loved it. If you like fantasy, adventure, fun, and a little bit of mischief, this story is for you. A must with dragon lovers!

I've read my paperback from cover to cover, and its appearance can tell a story of its own. The spine is broken, the pages are falling out, and it is one of the most loved books in my collection. It is one to always keep close to your heart, one that makes your imagination set forth and adventure into the depths of fantasy. Bruce Coville definately at his best.

Jeremy Thatcher comes to life in a full-cast recording

Jeremy Thatcher Dragon Hatcher is among the most magical contemporary children's novels and will, no doubt, stand the test of time and be recognized as a classic. Readers who know and love the book and those who are new to the story will enjoy this superb audio rendition.

Using a full cast with Bruce Coville himself as narrator, this recording includes all of the original text. Younger readers, who struggle with book length works, will love being able to follow the story as it's read on tape.

There are few pleasures that compare to hearing a good book come to life. If you loved the novel (or just enjoy a good fantasy) this cassette will enrich your understanding of (and appreciation for) Jeremy and his struggles.

Terrific
This book is fun to read. Once you get started, you can't put it down. This book has fun characters like Igor who bops people with his teddy bear. The story is about a kid who wants to know what is in the cloudy wing of the castle. When he finds out the goblins' spirits are there, he wants to see them. Unwillingly, he lets them back into the castle. Now he has to get them back in the wing, or else...

Have you ever found a kid on your door step.
The book Gobblins in the Castle by Bruce Coville is very energetic. The kid in this story is mostly sneaking around the castle with Igor his friend.William lives a hard life because he was found on a castle steps. He grows up not knowing who his parents are.Stop and think If you don'tknow who your parents are, wouldn't you be curious. William found out what is in the north tower but I am not going to you what it is. He finally knew that you should always believe in something that you can't
see or hear because it is there.

Amazing adventure!
Goblins in the Castle is truly one of the best works of fiction I have ever read in my life. I have read it many times over and I enjoy it every time. Nothing about it gets old to me. I have introduced the book to many of my friends and they all have borrowed and read it with sheer delight, all giving the same review of, "Goblins in the Castle rules! " This book is non-stop adventure as William, an 11 year old boy, unknowingly lets the goblin's souls out of the North Tower on Halloween night. The goblins are now loose and William has to find a way to get them back in to the tower. He has help from friends along the way such as Igor, Fauna, and Herky. Throughout the book he hears different opinions of many people and in the end, has to make a decision over what to do about the situation. Really, this book is a million times better than my description of it. I beg of you, if you only read one book in your life, read "Goblins in the Castle". It stretches the imagination, and brings out the adventure in us all.

Not what you'd think...
When I bought this book in third grade, I expected a girly story about Unicorns. I only bought it as all my friends did, too. When I got it, I read a page, got distracted, and left it to collect dust for ages. When I was in seventh grade, I finally had the sense to give the book a shot. I am sooooo glad I did. It is NOT a girly book about unicorns- it is a well written fantasy with deep characters and an intriguing plot. The story moves at a perfect pace, and it is a book I adore. I believe the title is very misleading. It is a great story, and it is right up there with Ella Enchanted, The Immortals Quartet, Harry Potter, The Forgotten Beasts of Eld, and The Changling Sea. Those are books you'd probably also enjoy if you enjoyed this.

I love This Book!
I first picked this book up through a book club (remember those?) in school when I was in third grade when it was new, fresh off the shelves. I always loved fantasy stories and unicorns have always captivated me. As soon as I got it home, I devoured it and since then, have read it countless times. Bruce Coville is an excellant author. I waited for a sequel for years, maybe up until seventh grade, then I gave up hoping, but secretly always counted the minutes until I could find out what happened to Lightfoot, Cara, Squijum, Dimblethum, etc. As I was searching the web for Harry potter info, I came across the sequel, and went insane...i was laughing and screaming. I begged my mom to order it ASAP off amazon. But enough about the sequel, when I read it, I will review that. I was held hostage by the world of Luster, and I was right there with Cara when she jumped off the clock tower. I wished that if I closed my eyes, I could wake up and be Cara, adventuring with her friends in a magical world. I have only one complaint to Bruce Coville. If you take another 6-7 years to write the third one, i dont know what I'll do. (By the way, I loved this book at 8, and will treasure it far beyond my fourteen and a half years.)

Its been 6 years since i first bought this book...
I first bought Into the Land of the Unicorns when I was in 4th grade, I just liked the cover. It quickly became my favorite book. A few years ago I found it on my shelf, and I read it again. Though it is a little juvinal if you are in high school, the story still touched me and I fell in love with Luster all over again. This is a book for fantasy lovers of all ages! I gave one of my friends this book, and she loved it. Mr. Coville, please hurry with book 3!

Awesome, Where's the next one?
I read book one, I don't remember about it, but I know I liked it. I just checked out "Song of the Wanderer", on Thursday. I started reading it yesterday and I practically just finished it about maybe 40 minutes or less ago. I loved it. The characters were richly detailed, especially the Unicorns, I like Lightfoot and Finder. The story really is excellent. Bruce Coville really knows how to keep people riveted to their seats for hours on end. I'm kind of sad that I finished it so early. I wanted to stop reading it for a while last night, but I just couldn't stand it. It called me back, It's that good that you keep wanting more. Where is the next one? I can't wait to find out what happens. I want to see what happens in the final battle. Beloved is going down. I hope, but I'm sure she will be defeated. Three words, READ THIS BOOK(Song of the Wanderer), you will not be dissapointed. I'm 15 years old, I know that I'll probably be grown up when the Third one comes out, but what's to stop me from reding it? I don't care how old I am, I love it. And I think you will too.

I love LightFoot
My friend convinced me to read the first book and I thought it had an interesting plot, but it was only an okay book. I read the second one, though, and it was so great, I couldn't put it down. I felt as though it was magnetized to me. I ecspecially loved Lightfoot, who has become one of my favorite characters EVER! If you want to read a great book, pick up this one! I loved it, you will too!

Longing for Luster
I don't know what i can possibly say to do credit to this book. It picked up where the first left off and went to a whole other level. The characters developed with amazing depth and dimension and the plot took so many clever twists I couldn't put it down.
And the ending! I dont' want to give away the climax, so you'll just have to read it. All in all, it leaves you wanting more.

The Battle for the castle Review
The Battle for the Castle was an awesome book. I thought it was one of the best books I ever read. I liked it because I love to be in suspense and this book had lots of suspense. I also liked it because it was easy to follow and to understand. If you liked The Castle in the Attic you'll love The battle for the Castle. Thats what I thought about The Battle for the Castle.

A boy who goes to a castle and has to fight rats.
I am in third grade. My teacher read my class this book and the one before it to. Every time when my teacher would stop reading the whole class would beg her to read more. the author does a great job of stoping the chapter right at the really exciting parts.I LOVED it!!!!!!!!! Normally I don't like books about castles but this one I really liked!

delightful read for all ages
this adventure book is a wonderful read for everyone! i read it when i was a young teenager, and fell in love wih it! now i have read it again and still enjoy it. the sequal to the castle in the attic, this book was filled with more adventure and suspense. recomended for anyone that enjoys fantasy and adventure!

My Teacher Flunked the Planet

How low can humanity go?
This eye-opening book is a great grand finale for the "MyTeacher Is An Alien" series. Three teens are intrusted with amission that could litteraly be the differance between life and death for the planet Earth. Somehow they must find a way to convince thousands of aliens not to blow up the Earth. They take you into the depths of the human heart trying to find hope for the human race. But what they find is both heart-wrenching and unbelievable but saddly real. This book will open your heart to the truths of this world that many try to deny. But don't take my word for it. Read it and see how you feel when you've finished.

My Teacher Flunked The Planet by Bruce Coville
I have all four books in the My Teacher Is An Alien series, and all of them are great, but this climactic conclusion to the series is the most deep, touching, and downright SCARY of the series. In it, the aliens take down the three kids on an expedition to Earth to check out what should be done about the planet, which is the only planet EVER to be smart enough to achieve space travel, but dumb enough to have wars. Some of the places where they go chilled me to the bone, learning more about the evils of human nature.

In short, this is not the book to read if you're looking for a nice, cheerful book. In fact, it shouldn't be read at all without first reading the first three books in the series, which start out much simpler, and eventually build up to this one. However, it's still a great book, it's just that you'll be halfway through it and you'll say out loud "Geez, the human race sucks!"

What a world we live in.
This the climactic, heart-wrenching, chilling story in the "My teacher is an Alien" series is the most biting one. An unfogiving suspenseful look on how life is, and how the human race can be downright inhumane with eachother. This book gives you the downright truthful message to "Wake up" and do something. The minutes count down to the fate of Earth, as three earth students Peter thompson, Susan Simmons and Duncan Dougal are brought in to speak for their planet... to keep it from destruction. The Aliens point out the Earth's self destructing ways, so why not destroy it? Read the book and find out... the Spine tingling, cataclysmic, enjoyable and extremely intelligent final part to the series.. trust me read the three predecessors (My teacher is an alien/ My teacher fried my brains/ My teacher glows in the dark.) before this one. A book that does not treat its' readers as fools. It is all worth it. I recommend to everyone! -Alex M.

A favorite for years!
I love this book! My mother bought it for me years ago and I read it so many times I wore it out! Now, all grown up, I have re-purchased it to read over and over to my kids! An excellent story, well written, and impressive. Not only a great ghost story, scary enough to keep the older ones interested, but not to scary too frighten the little ones, but amazingly it gives you insight into how the underground railroad was run and the desperate measure and danger they met along the way. If you have some kids that are struggling in subjects like history, this is an excellent way to 'sneak' in some knowledge and get those wheels turning! You won't be disappointed with this book!

PLEASE READ MY REVIEW!
I would recommend this book THE GHOST WORE GRAY by:Bruce Coville, to any-body who loves books about adventure and the civil war and also alot about how they let slaves live in their homes . The story is about a girl named Nina aka:Nine, and her best friend Chris, Nina's father is a remodeler for old run down places like hotels and inns. Her father takes a job to remodel an old inn. When the three of them get there they discover that the inn that Nina's father is remodeling is haunted. The name of the inn is called the Quackadoddle Inn, when they find out that other living things are there. They conclude that there is a GHOST! The ghost is a man that was in the war and that is how the story is based on. His name is Captain Jonathan Gray. Then Chris and Nina learn about the civil war and why Captain Gray was staying at the Quackadoddle Inn. But then when they find out how and why Captain Gray died the story turns into a real adventure. The adventure seems so real that it feels like you are almost in the whole story as it goes on.I hope I have helped your opinion on reading and seeing what good of a book this is and how good the adventure can get. To tell you how good this book is, if I could give this book a 10 star rateing I would because that is how good I thought this book was. Thank you for taking your time and reading my very long book review.

A Favorite That Stood the Test of Years
Reflecting on it, I realize that it was this book that engendered the great interest that I now have in the War Between the States. Years ago, I read this book for the first time, and I still do despite the "reading level" on the back. Honestly, if you ask me, ignore it! Those three letters (or letter and a number) "RL5" mean nothing as far as having a great plot, and good characters.

In this book, Coville demonstrates a power to make you believe (while reading) that anything is possible, that perhaps--maybe--ghosts really can and do exist. He also, by well-written diary entries and some well-choreographed appearances, does an incredible job of letting you catch a glimpse of what Captain Gray is (was?) like without saying much of anything at all besides a well-timed Rebel Yell. (Those of you who have read this book know what I mean by this.)

Nina, Chris, and Captain Gray all seem to come alive in this book (I use the term "alive" loosely!). I have to say that it is the best of the three Nina Tanleven books. All three are good, but this one shines very clearly above the rest.
