Information you won't get elsewhere
In a world filled with drug ads, it's hard to find the truth about medicine. Newspapers and magazines aren't going to risk losing all that ad revenue by telling the truth about drugs, including vaccines. That's why every parent should read this book. At least you'll be able to make an informed decision about which drugs to have pumped into your children's bodies. The material in this book is all documented and factual and it provides a fascinating, though at times frightening, look at the vaccine industry today.

All parents should read this before immunizing their child!
I acquired several copies of this book after seeing a segment of ABC's "20/20" in the mid 80's. I have a beautiful daughter who was born in 1975 who is today profoundly mentally disabled and has intractable seizures. I am saddened that, still today, untold numbers of children are still having their lives taken from them due to this "poison". This book is an excellent source for those seeking information, and a source of comfort for those of us in this situation. It was the first time I realized that I am not alone...

The Controlled Clinical Trial: An Analysis
Published in Paperback by Center for Empirical Medicine (1991)
Author: Harris L. Coulter
Amazon base price: $12.00

Average review score:

A solid book for the researchers
As his author himself has stated, this book is now out ofprint. As a researcher, I think this book is very useful, particularly to those who are just beginning their path in clinical trials; the book contains abundant information, as well as practical examples that make it easy to comprehend the basis of this kind of study; I think the chapter on sample size ism an especially interesting reading. In my opinion, this book deserves (and needs) a second edition, one in which some of the innovations could be included and some gaps could be filled; maybe a chapter about meta-analyses might be added.

This book should be required reading for parents
When I read A Shot in the Dark I was both saddened and enraged. Saddened because I have a vaccine-damaged child and enraged that the government, the medical establishment, and pharmaceutical companies use our children as guinea pigs. This is one of the most well-researched books I have ever read and I strongly urge any person who has received vaccines themselves or has children (or intends to have children) to read this book and investigate this issue for themselves. I only wish I had access to this book before my daughter was born.

The truth....
In barbara Loe Fisher's book, A shot in the dark, She reveals chilling stories and facts surrounding the truth about the DPT vaccine. Parents, I recommend this book highly when thinking about immunization.

Having been proven affected by the DPT shot, I can tell you that what she tells is the truth. I have ADD, ADHD, Epilepsy and a host of other allergies/afflictions.

At the time of the conclusion of my lawsuit, I was only one of two DPT affected children who were lucid, fully functional people able to lead what would be considered a "normal" lifestyle. Most others are severely crippled.

I also might add that I was at one time featured in this book(I've not read this edition, so I can't verify that).

Voice of Experience
This book was a real sanity check for me. As a small child, I had two bouts of mysterious convulsions followed by cessation of breathing. Just as in the book, doctors denied and concealed the facts about my reation to pertussis, but my parents were convinced that the vaccinations I had recieved were responsible and prevented me from being vaccinated in the future. A Shot in the Dark is probably the most important book parents or expecting parents can read to potentially save the life of their child. The information within has been almost completely surpressed by most pediatricians in the US.

Each chapter left me more and more angry at what had happened to me and more and more informed for the first time about this dangerous vaccine. The book is fair and critical of the medical community and its research and accounts are sound and vivid. The authors themselves know of what they write and have made life work out of tragedy saving countless others from the same fate.

I consider myself lucky to be alive today, and this book has helped me understand my body and my current health better than ever before. It is also inspiring, and after reading it, if you are like me, you will spread the warning and demand more from our doctors.

Fascinating
Coulter's premise is fascinating. Few authors have addressed the long-term consequences of vaccination. Hopefully, this work will stimulate further research.

Very HOT Topic - Buy and Read if you are a parent
...I think despite other criticisms that the author is very knowledgable about the issues and presents a good case for not vaccinating. Harris presents parents who have had children who have been damaged by - what he believes -are the vaccinations. Harris suggests that previosly mentioned "non-reported" effects of vaccinations are creating socially handcapped people. Harris Coulter has my respect for service in 2 presidential cabinets as an interpreter, and for investigating this topic and taking a stand. Well written.

Very HOT Topic - Buy and Read if you are a parent
If you think you are doing the right thing by getting your child vaccinated, think again! And truly investigate it. There is enough evidence now to conclude that S.I.D.S., asthma, autism, ADD, ADHD, epilepsy and Epstein Barr are linked to childhood vaccinations.

A vaccine in and of itself is a great thing, however, it is the addition of toxic heavy metals, and other ingredients used to attenuate a microbe that make it deadly. ...

When a child is born, it is born without myelin (a fatty protective coating) attached to the nervous system. When we introduce these toxic substances to a baby's unprotected nervous system we are gambling. Gambling that the child will not react violently to the stressor. Many of these affects are not reported, those that are, are labeled, "underlying brain conditions." Now I have been reading that the CDC is now working on a vaccine that has 95-100 different vaccines in one shot. The issue today Look out, Be careful, Investigate first, then decide.

The arguement here is; either you are considered a freeloader (herd immunity - protected in a population by those vaccinated) by protecting your right to good health, or you are a conformist. The conformists believe in the vaccine and its health benefits, and those that question suppositions are considered the "outcasts" - or the ones who "are not part of the team." The CDC is now using the September 11 attacks to mandate small pox vaccine.

As for the book, I think despite other criticisms that the author is very knowledgable about the issues and presents a good case for not vaccinating. Harris presents parents who have had children who have been damaged by - what he believes -are the vaccinations. Harris suggests that previosly mentioned "non-reported" effects of vaccinations are creating socially handcapped people. AIDS and Syphilis: The Hidden Link
Published in Hardcover by North Atlantic Books (1987)
Author: Harris L. Coulter
Amazon base price: $20.00
Average review score:

Shockingly ignorant
The data and analysis are outdated and, more importantly, dangerous!

I question the value of having this 11 year old book still in print, when we have made leaps and bounds in the search of the cause and cure of HIV/AIDS since then.

Groundbreaking work!
One of the first books to challenge the conventional HIV/AIDS hypothesis. Some of the research is a bit dated but the underlying theme is still valid: the evidence for HIV causation of AIDs is slim if it exists at all.

More recent books challenging the HIV/AIDS theory such as Rethinking AIDS are more relevant than AIDS and Syphillis but it's still an excellent book.
