Great general resource
Despite the inherently difficult task of "cold-canvassing" VCs, this book helps to target potential investors based on prior investment criteria and average investment amount. I'm still waiting for "The Gold Book on Angel Investors and Clubs", which would actually be worth its weight in gold!
Comprehensive, well organized
If the content (i.e. names, addresses, etc) prove to be accurate, I would highly recommend this book as a source of contact information for VC's through out the country.
An incredible resource!
Not only is it the most comprehensive directory of venture capital firms I have been able to find, but it is also well organized with a valuable introduction. Thumbs up.

Most comprehensive on the market
Pro: There are some outdated information or errors, but livable as this directory is the most comprehensive in the market.
Con: However, a time savings database requires a steep ($). Otherwise it deserves 5 stars.
Not good in a bad economy
If the economy is bad, this book does not help a lot. Because companies do not use headhunters as much. But as soon as the economy comes back, I would buy the latest version again....
great resource for changing careers
I've used this book a few times and know many execs who regularly use it to keep headhunters up to date with their resume. Half of the pages are indexes to you can find recruiters by where they are, what industry they cover, or what function (finance, marketing etc.) The most useful index is the one with hundreds of different detailed specialties for the headhunters. Basically the way to use this book is to contact recruiters who specialize in what you do. Don't expect hundreds of replies: they only call if and when they have a match, and your resume needs to be word perfect. But it only takes one offer! Another useful thing is they list "contingency recruiters" separately - these are more useful for technical and mid-level jobs around $50-75k. Definitely use the current year's book to avoid wasting time on old addresses, like the other reviewer said. Best used in conjunction with a resume-writing advice book.

This book has been my bible
All the information I could want is contained in this book.
With every relocation I've made, this red book has been my steadfast guide and the first step in any move I make. Forget the American Express card, "don't leave home without it."

Great reference, if you understand the game
Headhunters get a lot of resumes sent to them from people looking for jobs. They throw most of them away. So it's only worth mailing resumes if you mail them to recruiters who really place people like you. That's the strength of this directory, because it has loads of indexes where you can find headhunters in the right industry, right state or near where you live. It also names individual recruiters and what they specialize in. The odds are still long, but at least you can get in front of relevant people. And that's the real value of this book. Interesting footnote: many headhunters use it themselves, suggesting that it's probably the reference of choice among the pros. The advice section at the front is pretty good too.
The Famous "Red Book" is the Who's Who of the Industry
This is the who's who of the executive recruiting industry. There is a lot of turnover in the search industry and this is the most comprehensive, up-to-date listing of executive recruiters out there. The indexes allow you to sort recruiters by industry and job functions that they specialize in so you can pinpoint the right ones for you. A CD ROM version of the database is available for an additional fee too.

An important work of the Harlem Renaissance
In terms of plot and character development, this work is average- perhaps even below average. However, McKay does suceed in creating beautiful imagerary through his prose; especially in terms of the physical descriptions he provides of African Americans and the city of Harlem. Besides language, another reason to consider reading this work is because of its historical role in the Harlem Renaissance. The release of this book caused a great deal of controversy- much of which centered around the manner in which McKay portrayed African Americans. If you do decide to read this book, it is a quick and easy read. The typing and margins are pretty large and the chapters are relatively short.
a classic; McKay is worth your time
After reading an issue of Black Issues Book Review, I decided to give this book a try. It is a great story and perfectly relays all the nuances and moods that are New York. The main character meets a prostitute named Felice his first night in Harlem and his quest for her begins there. Try this one out; you will enjoy
The Spy

An awful tale with a decent ending
For the bulk of the novel, Fennimore Cooper seems to spin his literary wheels attempting to develop depth into his characters. Failing miserably, the plot quickens and the novel becomes more entertaining, although hardly believable. The ultimate reason for the danger in the book becomes rather silly, but still there is some redeaming quality to the novel. This was basically Fennimore Cooper's first attempt at an American novel and so some tolerance is warrented. I shall try the next book, The Pioneers, in time.
A great story for anyone who enjoys the American Revolution
The plot of this book is based on a real spy story. Therefore, although some do consider it unbelievable, the basis of it is entirely true. The way that the author slowly brings out the character of Harvey Birch is wonderful. He creates numerous sub plots that make the story very interesting. The only weakness is the fact that the author was rushed into stopping the story abruptly. As a result, one hears no more about many important characters until the very end when some are fleetingly mentioned. The ending is so strong, however, that this fault isn't as glaring as it would have been.

What is Rockabilly?
The authors claim that Rockabilly music defies easy definition and this is reflected in their Rockabilly resource guide. Barebone entries for books and articles cover selected artists/groups subjective to the preference of the authors. No guidelines for inclusion have been developed. No annotations for entries provide explanation or analysis. Cited sources seem general in nature, not specific as to rockabilly influence or contribution by the artist. However, the bibliography does contain sources specific to the genre. The authors claim, "the rockabilly sound has never secured analytical baptism by an ethnomusicologist/historian," and this book reaffirms that premise
