Great Cookbook
Every recipe in this book is very good. Most (almost all) recipes are very easy to make and looks like you worked a long time on them. The Pesto Mold on page 20 is easy to make and everyone will ask for the recipe. The sausage snacks on page 30 are a nice change to meatballs. Pesto tortilla snacks are very easy and great tasting also. The pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and fruity muffins make great gifts around the holidays. The Parmesan Caesar salad is a salad a I make all the time. All the potato dishes are great tasting; the squash casserole is the best I have every had. The sweet potatoes are great (even if you don't like sweet potatoes. I could go on. This cookbook has a nice feature with the children's section. I have used this book so much and bought so many as gifts.

Well done!
This is a wonderful book. It is full of great recipes that are not only good, but easy to prepare. I highly recommend it!

A Regional Cookbook with an International Flair
I have tried many of the recipes in this book and like 99% of them, so do my family and my friends. My favorites include; Frogmore Pickled Shrimp, Swamp Chili, Okra and Tomatoes, Pasta with Shrimp, Lemon and tomoatoes and many more than I should probably list. The book is well laid out (easy to follow), ingredients are easy to find and the serving suggestion are on target. Try this book. You'll like it.

Mark of the New World Order
This is one of the most prolific books Terry has written. The information included is based on real investigations into areas most people would not know how to begin getting into.

I know Terry personally, and his abilities as an investigator really come out in his writtings. The information in Mark of the New World Order will help anyone to understand how far we have come toward the full implimentation of Big Brother. Terry writes as well as he speaks, and anyone hearing his seminars would be as excited about his information in person as they would be in reading this highly informative work.Terry, keep up to great work!

Mind-boggling
I couldn't put it down! Informative, comprehensive, easy-to-read, and well documented, "Mark" is probably the best book I've read on the possibilities of end-time government control. The technology is all ready, and after reading the book, one is compelled to admit that we may be closer than we think to total Big Brother control. Well worth reading.

one of the most important books today for our future.
its one of the best books in this day and age. it tells it like it is. im well pleaseed with this book. it opens up things that i was never aware of with our goverment. and yes its true about this new world order how there all set up now and they been ready. terry talks about controlling and tracking man kind rich or poor old young. this book you have to read. you will know more now than you did all your life after reading this book. the new world order.

Great Reference Cookbook!!
Every cook, whether beginner or more advanced, should have this book. The recipes are simple enough for a beginner, but allow for experimentation for someone more advanced. There's great information on every page regarding the recipe or main ingredient. All in all, one that I would recommend to anyone!

A life-changing cookbook!
Can a cookbook bring about a substantial change in your life? Well, this one sure did in mine!

A month or so ago I picked up _The Basics_ at the bookstore, thinking that some of the easy recipes could help me replace Healthy Choice TV Dinners as my standard evening fare. Well, not only have I thrown away those old TV Dinners to make freezer room for better food, now every evening I make delicious, healthy meals based on this book's recipes, meals that rival my favorite restaurants here in Seattle. And I'm having a great time doing it, too!

Personally, I've found Bittman's general purpose advice in the Introduction and "Basics" sidebars even more useful than the recipes. Advice about quality ingredients, the broad variety of interesting materials you can find at your corner grocer, and knowing when a meal is done - all the cooking basics I never learned from Mom but wish I had.

Mark Bittman, thank you - you've made me a believer and a rabid fan.

Try It, You'll Like It!
Josefina's Cookbook has a variety of foods that are common in the traditional New Mexican diet. New Mexican food is unique to the region and includes items that are not even in the Hispanic diet in neighboring states. In a state whose State Question is "Red or Green?" (as in "Do you prefer red or green chile?"), caution must be taken in trying new foods if you are sensitive to spicy-hot foods, as many children are. If you are unfamiliar with what is HOT in the New Mexican diet, going out and buying a New Mexican cookbook to introduce your children to this type of food may meet you with watering eyes and children reaching for tortilla chips to neutralize the burn.

Josefina's Cookbook is a much better choice for children because it is filled with child friendly recipes that still represent the New Mexican diet. Some of the recipes are for small items, like home-made tortillas, hot chocolate, soft cheese, and pinto beans. Empanaditas (little empanadas), posole, green chile stew, and carne adovada are more meal oriented recipes. Just remember the sopaipillas if you are cooking with chile!

The format of this book is a joy to look through even if you want to learn about New Mexican cooking without preparing the more adventurous items. The ingredients and cooking equipment are listed at the beginning of each recipe and the recipes themselves are well written and illustrated. It won't be hard for a girl to find something that she'll want to try.

John Mark Stallings is the true hero of Another Season.
I'm giving the book three stars for three reasons: One, we have a 3-month-old son with Down syndrome and anything on the subject is a welcomed addition to our library. Two, as difficult as it was to read some of Gene Stallings' comments about his own son, it probably took a lot for this football coach to bare his soul in print. Three, John Mark Stallings touched a deep nerve, giving me more hope that our little boy has every opportunity to grow up to be a loving, giving, productive man. But until the last two chapters, the book leaves you wondering whether Johnny was truly given a fair shake. Instead of celebrating the birth of his only son, in typical jock fashion, Stallings tries to punch out the doctor, changed the boy's name ("...we knew he would never be able to carry on the family name..."), laments that the boy will never be a strapping quarterback in the NFL, and worries over Johnny's slight physical differences. The book does illustrates how far we've progressed in our acceptance of people with Down syndrome, and brings home the fact that it is only the families of children with this disability who will ensure they get the unconditional love, attention and education they deserve. At the same time, though, I'm afraid it perpetuates some of the stereotypes and misconceptions that people continue to place on those with Down syndrome.

Inspiring!
Gene Stallings, football coach. I hesitated to purchase a book in which an athletic man recounts life with his disabled son. I am not a football fan, nor did I in the past think very highly of the "jocks" of the world. Coach Stallings changed my views by the end of the first chapter.

He is all too human. A man who wanted a son to grow up and carry on the family name and football prowess. We see openly his disappointment and fears after Johnny's birth. The child will never play football and may be looked down upon his entire life.

Stallings strives for coaching fame all the while advocating for the best for his son. His pride in the adult Johnny is one of the great tear jerking moments of modern literature.

A wonderful mix of football and family...
Another Season is a well written story of one family's life in that it intertwines the success of one of the strongest football coaches (NFL and College) and that of his personal life. My wife and I have a five year old son who happens to have Down Syndrome, and to hear Coach Stallings share his innermost thoughts and feelings about a similar situation was very encouraging. The alternating recollections of football and personal family life are interesting and compelling. Coach Stallings' honest and frank feelings about his son, Johnny, make you feel like you are right there with him as he wrestles with the unbelievable news that his son has Down Syndrome. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is excellent reading.

Great for Beginners and Experts Alike!
As someone who is learning to cook only late in her life, I was apprehensive and embarrassed about asking simple basic questions of friends and family. Perceiving this, my parents gave me this cookbook, and voila! -- I can cook!

With step-by-step instructions on everything from cookware, ingredients, buying, preapring, cooking, and serving, there's nothing this book can't handle. It provides recipes to prepare foods in the simplest ways, all the way up to complex gourmet dishes. And it covers every imaginable food -- if it isn't in here, I can't imagine where you'd find it.

The language is straightforward and encouraging, with appropriate editorializing on the author's preferences, and the layout is clean and easy to read. I can't say enough good things about this cookbook -- it never leaves my kitchen counter.

(P.S. -- Try the spinach with tons of butter -- it's to die for!)

Very Pleasantly Surprised by This Book
For the longest time I was skeptical of the title "How to Cook Everything". This book does have most everything in their selection of recipe, but better yet, they are excellent recipes. I love this book because it tells you how to prepare food in many different ways. This book is simple to read, laid out well, and the recipes are easy to follow. While this may not be a beginner cookbook it is quite good, and you will be sure to be pleased with this book. In many ways it reminds me of the Joy of Cooking books with a more contemporary feel to it.
Bittman is kind enough to give menus and other suggestions so you won't be wondering what would go with the fine meal you just prepared. A very nice added touch. The book also gives basic information about various foods their storage and preparation. This book is a wonderful addition to any cook book collection.

Easy to read, easy to use, fun to cook with
What really makes this cookbook the best I've ever used is Bittman's colorful commentary and tips with an occasional personal antedote. He doesn't just give a recipe for cooking lamb, something I tried for the first time recently, he gives variations to basic recipes which allows for hundreds of combinations and let's me cook with ingredients I have on hand. I felt confident cooking a meat I had never tried before. He mentions to the reader that it might be a good idea to try out the creme brulee before trying to impress guests, I ignored his advice of course, and despite the fact its presentation was lacking, everyone loved the flavor and texture.
If I could have only one cookbook, this would be it without question, the lists and illustrations are fabulous and the recipes are explained in a way that I feel more than confident trying new things.
Whether needing a simple macaroni and cheese recipe or an exotic dessert I go to this cookbook first and since owning I haven't needed another.
