The best bunch of Christmas stories I've ever read.
I couldn't put it down. The stories are without exception warm and meaningful. I am giving this book to my grandchildren. Sharing these stories is sharing the best of Christmas with them.

A Great Holiday Addition!!
This is a great Christmas Book to add to your Christmas book collection. The stories in this book are inspirational and full of the Christmas spirit. This is a book that the entire family will enjoy!!

The Best of Christmas
Most collections of stories, Christmas or otherwise, have a bunch of mediocre selections, a few good ones, and one or two great ones--but this book manages to have ALL great ones. Plus, they're not those sappy ones that make you roll your eyes; they're touching without being obnoxious. Maybe it's because almost all of the stories are true experiences, told in a straightforward way. My personal favorites are "The Gold and Ivory Tablecloth" by Howard Schade, "A Christmas Gift I'll Never Forget" by L.D. Hummel, and "My Christmas Miracle" by Taylor Caldwell. Okay, also "How Santa Spread Cheer Without Eight Tiny Reindeer," by Rip Rense. (I'm a school teacher, and I'm going to read some of these to my third graders in December.) Enjoy the joy!

This CD Set Meets ALL Expectations!
My wife was privileged to work under Pat Moffit Cook and we were thrilled to see Brainwave Symphony on the shelves when it was released. We have heard many CD sets, and none of them have met our expectations until now! If you have sleep problems, I can't recommend this set highly enough! The "Delta" CD worked wonders for our sleep patterns, and I often run the "Beta" CD all day long as I work. It really helps with focus and clarity. I am really looking forward to seeing what is next for Pat Moffit Cook!

Written Like An Engineer!
Extremely easy to read and very well organized. Author has relevant examples and whole book is straight forward style with out the usual pontificating, pompous approach of most writers of public speaking books. Written like an engineer-no mushy soft stuff. Best discussion of any book on merits of each type of script (Word for word, traditional outline, key word outline, pictograph).Excellent discussion of body mechanics and eye contact tips. Excellent chapter on humor and how and when to use it.

The first review you see at the top is for a different book.
There was an accident here. The review you see at the top of the review column is for a completely different book. There are no photographs in this book. It is a novel with a completely different author and title than the first review sayes it is.

Racism in 19th century Brazil
This book is a good example of a kind of writing which became mildly popular during the second half of the 19th century in which a character's discovery that he is part black is a crucial plot element. Other examples of this can be found in Pud'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain and Desiree's Baby by Kate Chopin. So, it is a good book for anyone who is interested in race relations. The story takes place in Sao Luis (Brazil's second largest slave trading port) during the 1870s, when slavery still existed. Sao Luis was a very conservative, provencial city in which the Catholic church was openly against abolition, and the main villian in the book is a catholic priest. Apparently Azevedo, who was just 23 when he wrote the book, angered the local upper class so much with this book that he had to move out of town. Although Mulatto is considered to be the first Brazilian novel in the Naturalist or Realist tradition, there are many elements of romanticism in the plot which tends to be melodramatic and sloppy at times. Still, it serves as a fascinating historical document and at times Azevedo's prose is fantastic, forshadowing the greatness that was to come later with his masterpiece, The Slum.
