Manual of Surgical Therapeutics

Excellent text for med students
I used this manual during my surgical clerckship last year and found it to be extremely useful. This text deals with perioperative patient care in a concise, easily memorized and very clearly laid down manner. It is also very useful in reviewing important subjects that are usually ignored during surgical rounds such as cardiac arrhythmias and others. It is very deductive and easy to read . I recommend it to every medical student taking a surgical clerckship so that he/she may better comprehend the crucial role of good pre- and postoperative care of the patient and inhance their knowledge in different subjects of great importance in surgical theraputics.

Short Review of Shorthand
It felt wonderful after many years to be making the Gregg characters again! This is a GREAT little book! If I could make one wish, though, I'd wish for the "Short Forms" and some examples of words used in sentences, or perhaps even illustrative dictation. But it's good to know that Gregg is still out there, making a difference.

A Must Have
At 39, and the second time around at taking shorthand (orig. took in high school in 1978) this book adds to the learning process and supplies help in several areas of brief forms, phrases and it greatly necessary when transcribing someone elses shorthand.

How we did without it before is unknown!

Enjoyable but sometimes patchy
As a geology major with a focus on the Pacific Northwest, I couldn't help but come in contact with Thomas Condon in many of the books I was reading for courses. I then decided to learn more about him by reading his biography. I have to say I was stunned to learn the details of his life before he began missionary work! Who knew?! Still, this book does a decent job of documenting the highs and lows of Condon's life as it related to his work as an educator. I was, however, a bit disappointed with its lack of coverage regarding his involvement with women's suffrage - maybe, contrary to public belief, this wasn't one of his major focuses? Overall, it was an enjoyable (if sometimes patchy) read.

Condon a winner
I must confess a slight bias - we all know Thomas Condon as one of our foremost geologists. I, however, was lucky enough to know him as my great grandfather. Well, not know him - he died well before I was born - but I knew of him. Intimately. And now the common reader has the same opportunity! On the whole the book captures my great grandfather perfectly - but there are a few omissions. If the anecdotes my parents' entertained their eleven children with are true, Thomas Condon spent more time with women than involved in women's suffrage; more time in prison than involved in prison reform. But, bygones - on the whole, a job very well done and I recommend this book heartily for those interested in the pacific northwest, geology, reform, and/or irish americans.

Terrible
Do not buy. I was a contributor to this book and am ashamed of that fact.

no secrets here
This book was of no use to me and really says the same thing that every book on Exchange does. It never touched on the Outlook web access other than half a page and nothing was relevent. Save yor money

decent book for administration
I was a contributor to the book. I think it's sad that anonymous authors from Seattle are embarrassed about being a part of a project when it was fully within their power to create something they wouldn't be embarrassed about. It's sad when someone partakes of a project, then feels the need to dissociate with it after it is done--and in an anonymous fashion.

That being said, I've given this book to a few friends, including the company that I work for now. No one I know that has actually read the book has come away with the feeling that they have just completely wasted their time and money.

The book is not perfect. It's hard to figure out where the text is going at times. But the information is invaluable and I haven't seen another book that covers all the informational topics that this one does.

You also have to remember that Exchange Server went through 2 major versions in an extremely short period of time. That shows in this book and probably accounts for the patchy feeling you get while reading it.
