A MUST
I have several hundred books on decorating, and this is on my top ten list. Through detailed questionnaires, the authors help you narrow and define your own personal style. Then, through superb photography and text, they show you how to achieve the rich, opulent look that will suit you on a budget.. This book is divided into different styles, and covers them all well. The only person who might not benefit from this one is a pure minimalist, and even she (or he) would love the elegant Japanese style as presented here. This book is on my permanent bookshelf and is a keeper....I never loan this one out.

Looking for Insight
This was a very entertaining book, written from a skeptic's point of view, which kept the reader in anticipation and in laughter! The author, searching for contact with her late mother, investigates numerous venues, such as astrology, channeling, tarot cards, psychics, and past life regression to name a few. After several different people whom she has contacted validate one another, the author slowly begins to embrace that "there is something else out there."

Does the author directly contact her deceased mother? No, but indirectly she does, which also brings her to a new awareness as well as opening her previously very skeptic mind. I admire her frankness and sarcasm throughout the book, which at times is very humorous indeed! The chapter on synchronicity was very insightful, as we all seem to be experiencing many synchronistic moments these days.

The author helps the reader see that there is more "out there" on the other side and if we but open our minds to other possibilities, we just may receive the answers that we have been searching for.

Very good book and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn more who is also a skeptic! This book will definitely change your mind!

A skeptic's search for the truth
Sherry Suib Cohen was given an assignment by her boss to research psychic phenomena, and the result was this book. From the start, she was highly skeptical of the supernatural world, but did the assignment with an open mind.

The book chronicles Sherry's research though different aspects of the genre. She visits channelers, psychics, mediums, tarot readers, tea leaf readers, astrologers, oracles, and parapsychologists. She often finds herself checking her skepticism througout the book, and reminds herself to keep an open mind. Preceding each section, she gives an in depth explanation of each phenomena, which I found enlightening. She also fills the book with her sarcastic humor, and is unabashedly skeptical, until incidents TOO SPECIFIC are brought up about her.

This book was quite fun to read because of Sherry's humorous personality, and refreshing because it was an earnest attempt by a true skeptic to delve into the world of the paranormal.

A super bonus of this book is that Sherry gives the names, phone numbers, and addresses of the psychics, astrologers, etc., so you can try them out for yourself.

It is simply fabulous
Where has this book been in my life? I cannot recommend it more highly--it's funny, charming, witty and above all--eye-opening. I'm a serious skeptic but now, like Ms. Cohen, not arrogant any more. I want to pursue her research and the telephone numbers of the practyitioners in the back of the book will let me do just that. I have rarely read a more absorbing, first person account of a person's honest exploration of somthing she laughed at previously--and now, is not laughing quite so hard any more. I ordered 10 copies of this book to give everyuone I know. What conversations it opens!

Hot Stuff from Hot Buttons!
I was pleasantly surprised by the practical advice and examples provided in Hot Buttons. Sybil Evans has taken the difficult topic of conflict resolution and masterfully crafted a text that the everyday reader (that's me) can use right away. Thank you, Sybil, for making this topic more understandable and easier to manage. I've already recommended this book to several of my co-workers!

IMPROVING RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
HOT BUTTONS is a pracrical guide for transforming the impact of negative emotional overload into positive behavioral and cognitive forces. The application of the techniques described in this book may be applied to a great number of situations regardless of wheather they occur in industry, within the family, at school or in traffic. The authors provide the reader/practioner with a variety of emotionally overloaded situation for analysis and techiques for resolving them. The techniques described are consistent with many theories about human behavior. The authors, Evans and Cohen, appear to base their approach to resolving conflict by "translating...words in a fresher way that gives the dialogue a new direction." To acquire this goal requires each to engage in the PROCESS OF LISTENING and respond in such a way as to convey that each has actually attempted to understand the other. I reccommend this volume to both the individual and the organization interested in improving productivity and personal balance through improving communication in human relationships.

Hot Buttons: How to Resolve Conflict and Cool Everyone Down
Learning why people behave the way they do is complicated, particularly in conflict situations. Understanding why they do so is even more perplexing. HOT BUTTONS is a unique tool which takes us to that next plateau of understanding not only the 'why', but the 'how to' in dealing with the broad diversity of personal and worklife situations. It is this 'how to' that has been sorely absent. HOT BUTTONS guides us at assessing our interpersonal behaviors. It then offers, at a pace suitable to our individual life situations, a practical toolkit for both avoiding and managing potential conflict. HOT BUTTONS will be enjoyed by all...however, it is a MUST for managers of people and customer relationships.

Solid Information
I am an Instructor of Esthetics, and I have also had the privilege of working withJeffrey Bruce during the 1980's.
While the book's photos and colors may be a bit dated, the information and how-to's in this book are timeless.
Perfect for the woman who needs easy to understand instructions, step by step guidance, all with a delightfully
devilish sense of humour.
Well worth the read.

It's subtle and charming and mostof all-helpful.
I'm an Atlanta business woman who ended up in Washngton D.C.--and I thought I knew everything but I didn't. My whole look was wrong--I could FEEL it. I wore pastels and shorter skirts--perfect for SAtlanta but washington called for dark clothes and longer skirts--not to mention pin stripes. This was a wonderful book that really gives a reader an idea of regional dressing. I threw out all my headbands--and how did he know how many I had in my drawer?

I recommend it thoroughly--and I plan to give it to my friend who is relocating to New York.

Just delicious!
I bought this book for my mom and my daughter--I'm in the sandwich generatyion! It's funny and fabulous and informative and I've never quite seen a beauty book like it! It;s actually a style book--a strong, directional look at the way the stunning women get the big city look. I got it!

A most engaging book on how to achieve the "look".
This is a wonderful book with practical advice on how to get that polished look that most women covet. An added perk is getting the chance to peak into the world of celebrity--the author provides interesting tidbits of information about favorite celebrities with lovely pictures to match. This would be a wonderful gift.
