Maximum amount of info for so little cost!
This book is very well thought out and put together. All the periphial sections, such as HOW TO USE THIS CATALOG,COUNTRY INDEX, FOREIGN EXCHANGE TABLE,MINT INDEX,THE COIN DENOMINATION SECTION, THE INTERNATIONAL NUMERAL SYSTEMS,THE COIN SIZE CHART,HEJIRA DATE CHART,AND THE 18TH CENTURY LEGENDS,all are informative and very helpfull. The small tidbit of information they throw in at the begining of each nation section is just enough history to make it interesting. The photos for the most part are very good and usualy show enough detail so as to make a positive determination. Throughout the book there are numerous charts for indivdual piece dating and mint mark identification. With all of this in one book, this book is surprisingly easy to use and understand.

The best coins catalog of the 18th Century
This book is a guide excellent for the coins collector of the 18th century's coins. Well, if you are interested in World Coins that it was be mint between 1701 and 1800, to then buy a Krause WC book, especially, this book, "Standard Catalog of World Coins : Eighteenth Century, 1701-1800 (2nd Ed)". They do it differently every couple of years. Before then they used to have one massive volume covering from about 1700 to present. Later you'll have to buy both the 1801-1900 and then the 1900 to present volumes and it's a real pain to start following a listing in a country and then have to dig out the other volume when you pass 1899. Also you'll probably need the 1600-1700. So you will have a complete numismatic guide.

Writing Culture: The Poetics and Politics of Ethnography
Published in Paperback by University of California Press (1986)
Authors: James Clifford and George E. Marcus
Amazon base price: $22.50
Average review score:

Scholarship, Culture, Poetics and Politics: shared concerns
This collection constitutes another solid, suggestive and significant contribution to what is now one of the most dynamic arenas in the humanities and outside: Culture. The essays speak to all manner of representational practices and explore vital questions that no scholar interested in social dynamics of any kind can afford to ignore.

A Must For All Ethnographers
As the title says, not only do ethnographers objectively research and write "about" cultures, in the process, they are also "writing Culture": that is, we constitute the cultural realities even as we attempt to describe them. Language is not a transparent window through which we describe an already existing reality. language "is the maker of this world" says Fisher. Understanding this, the ethnographer is confronted with writing and its importance in the ethnographic description and analysis of cultural worlds. Self-reflexivity in writing ethnography is central to the text. Who has the authority to write Others into being? How does my position as a gendered, racial, and class subject affect my "writing-up" of culture? These are just some of the questions posed by this text, with the added bonus of some possible answers as well. A must read for anyone on the verge of conducting ethnographic research. Also a great text for qualitative research courses concerned with issues of postmodernity and postcolonialism.

This is an excellent reference book!
With this book, you don't need a lot of other engineering reference texts. The example problems are great and have many practical uses. I even used this book as a supplement to a college fluid mechanics course.

Gould Gator
I thought this book was fun to read. It was very exiting in the begin and intresting to. I was anxious to know what was going to happen next. But at the end when I found out it was all for a movie it wasn't as exciting as before. I would recomend this to someone. I would give it a 9 out of 1-10. It was great.

Interesting but difficult for some kids, real page turner!
I think that the book was easy to read but has some difficult parts for young readers. It will make you read without stopping. There are not many pictures but the ones they had were OK.

Standard Catalog of World Coins 1601-1700: 1601-1700 (1st Ed)

A Must-Have!!!
This formidable work manages to be comprehensive despite the scope and ambiguities of the period covered. The listings of coins themselves are in step with very recent numismatic discoveries. Accompanying photographs to many of the coinages are clear and fairly representative. Now, the length with which German issues are treated may surprise some, but this may be due to availability of records. Also, the prices quoted for most coins in general seem very approximate at best (particulary for issues from within many Spanish dominions), but this is only to be expected of a publication that must remain usable over several inflationary years. As a reference in identifying coins from the world of the 17th century, this Standard Catalog will stand one in good stead indeed!

The Handbook of Chlorination and Alternative Disinfectants
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (1992)
Authors: Geo. Clifford White and George Clifford White
Amazon base price: $149.00
Average review score:

An excellent book, but the price is way too high.
This is a thorough and well-written survey of drinking water disinfectants, their use, applicability, and chemistry. It is up-to-date and otherwise would be a 5-star book. However, the price makes it unaffordable for many who should have access to it.
