Well-written book and a must buy
This book was quite organized and filled with lots of information important for the massage student needing to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I used this book and the following which is also sold on amazon.com:
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers
(Topics: Human Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology) Vol 1
(ISBN: 0971999643)

The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers
(Topics: Clinical Pathology and Recognition of Various Conditions) Vol 2
(ISBN: 0971999651)

The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers
(Topics: Massage Therapy and Bodywork: Theory, Assessment and Application. Professional Standards, Ethics and Business Practices) Vol 3

(ISBN: 097199966X)

The last 3 study guides are on the mark with the type of questions asked on the national test. My advice is to buy all four books. I passed the national certification examination for therapeutic massage and bodywork easily with the help of these four books.

Basic Clinical Massage Therapy:
This book has been wonders for my studies to become a licensed massage therapist. I will keep it handy also in my practice. The illistrations are great, and really help with kinesiology.

Exactly what I wanted!
I know nothing of massage and I couldn't figure out heads or tails from the many massage books I had purchased until I received Basic Clinical Massage Therapy by Clay and Pounds.

Will I read the book in it's entirety and use every method, absolutely not, but now I can literally see the muscles and the anatomy and understand what it is that I'm working on in each and every part of the body and do some good, it's a bargain at $45!

I'd say this is the bible of massage!

The Garrison Case, as it was
James Kirkwood, novelist, exposes the nuttiness of Garrison's chuckleheaded jihad against Clay Shaw. Mr. Shaw, respected, liberal, a gentleman, found himself indicted for conspiracy to kill a president for whom he voted. The nightmare he endured, which left him in near penury, is recounted here. How can such a man endure a trial with witnesses against him who include psychotics, drug addicts, and those who think they have been hypnotised several hundred times by besmirchers of their sex lives? And how can such a man keep his own sanity after such an ordeal? Find out in this excellent book, brilliantly written with humor and pathos. The account given in "On the Trail of the Assassins" by Garrison himself leaves out a few details; this account, written by one who attended the trial daily (unlike Garrison), is detailed and amusing and....well, sane. Buy this for the truth.

Excellent book!
Bottom line . . . these books work! Don't think of "Trap Shooting Secrets" and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible" as simply books, think of them as equipment. Simple as that! I sincerely recommend these books to anyone who wants, not only to be a better trap shooter, but also a better shot on game. Excellent books! Bill Brown, Associate Editor of GunWeb Magazine.

Very Effective Shotgun Shooting Books
I purchased both of James Russell's fine books; Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible. After reading and rereading them, I know they have helped improve my scores. After reading the books, I found "my zone" and dusted 123 out of 125! The advice and instructions in these shotgun shooting books are truly powerful. My scores have absolutely improved! Of most importance. I found in the books, is finding the zone and when and where to pull the trigger. I found success after reading these books. In fact, they are so good, I read them a few dozen times, and these are not small books, they are huge in content. There is a tremendous amount of information in these books with many dozens of enlightening illustrations. I recommend you read both of Mr. Russell's trap shooting books, so you can reach your true potential quickly to be a top-notch shooter. The author has excellent works here and I'm most certainly looking forward to his next publication. Shooting is much more fun now that I don't miss the targets like I used to. If your scores are not where you want them to be, these are the books to make you a better shooter!

The Books Deliver On The Promise!
The Books Deliver On The Promise! New to trap shooting and 56 years of age, I was hitting only 75 of 100 in singles and handicap, until I read Trap Shooting Secrets and Precision Shooting - The Trapshooter's Bible. On my first shoot I shot 181x200 in singles! My previous best score was only 168, so I picked up 13 targets right away. On handicap, my best was 75, but after reading the books my score jumped to 80, and that was on a very rainy cold day. How much of the books did I read to increase these scores? Three tips! Yes, just three shooting tips! In my opinion, these books are remarkable and I highly recommend shooter's read the books if they wish to see an increase in scores. Here's more! I followed the first phase of the practice tips, tightened my choke, employed the snap shooting technique, as advised in the books, and smoked the targets hard. Without a coach, I found it difficult to improve my shooting. These clay target shooting books is like having a coach by your side giving you inside knowledge and advice. There is valuable information in these books. The books deliver on the promise. I'm one satisfied customer!

I'm reading this book in Chinese,I love it! Our teachers never told me about it, they just teached us what is 'right'.

Great Intro to American Politics Textbook
Excellent intro to politics text. I highly recommend it for a classroom or for anyone really who wants to sit down with a plain-spoken piece to get you to understand our government. Whether it is for someone with little knowledge as to who this vast bureaucracy works, or for someone with a fairly good knowledge of it all - I don't think it will disappoint.
I think what I appreciated the most was the honesty that the text was written. The authors also included a good amount of humor to emphasize the point (in cartoon, comic, Top 10 List, etc), in order to keep a reader interested.
I think this text is also a good reference as well, as there are numerous court cases and explicit examples of gov't at work - that if you are ever at a loss for "what was it that happened?" or "what does that term mean?" Things are extremely easy to find and be referred to.
Good works.

American Grotesque: An Account of the Clay Shaw-Jim Garrison-Kennedy Assassination Trial in New Orleans

This book truly an American Grotesque
This book should be considered a novel of fiction rather than non-fiction. It is a very interesting book if one has never done a full study of the Garrison investigation. Much of the information contained in this book is inaccurate, and when reading at the very beginning, he tells which side he is on, and rather than bring about the truth, he only brings forth evidence in which will side with the defense, leaving out very pertinent information. This book is in the category of "plot or Politics" By Rosemary James, and "False Witness" By Patricia Lambert, whom all attack Jim Garrison. One must look at the sources in which they use, and when you look, you see that the sources in which they use is reworded to fit their account of the investigation. Don't take this book seriously if you are seeking the truth!

Government tyranny
This book ought to interest a wider audience, who are concerned about civil liberties and abuses by government agencies. In this case, Clay Shaw was hounded by Jim Garrison, who announced when indicting Shaw that he Garrison had no case, but he expected Shaw to commit suicide, thus proving his guilt. Shaw did not. Shaw was found innocent in less than an hour by a jury. On the Monday following, Garrison indicted Shaw again for perjury, Garrison had a crowd picture showing Shaw and someone else whom Shaw had declared under oath he didn't know. Garrison produced a picture in which the two appeared. but were not talking to one another! It took another 2 years and an order from a federal judge to Garrison to stop harassing Shaw. Shaw died broke from all the court costs. .... Yes, this book should be reprinted and have the wider audience it deserves.

Behind the scenes of the only JFK assassination prosecution
In the late 60's, New Orleans district attorney, Jim Garrison (played by Kevin Costner in the Oliver Stone move, "JFK") indicted businessman Clay Shaw for his alleged participation in a plot to assassinate President John F. Kennedy. A true and bizarre story told by a reporter covering the daily happenings of the trial. Although the author's bias is evident due to his personal liking for the defendant, nonetheless, his insightfulness into the legal wranglings is incredibly interesting. This book may have limited appeal to only those keenly interested in the details and history of the Kennedy assassination. If that is the case, you won't be disappointed.

Overcoming racial biases
What is that fine line between overcoming and understanding one's own racial or ethnic background, or staying enveloped in it throughout one's life? How can we assist those still in those situations in meaningful and respectable ways discover other available life options? This book addresses those unpredictable twists and turns as some people have experienced - and still comptemplate - both of these situations.

This book could just as well been written about a person in the rural South struggling to break out of the small-town mentality imposed upon him/her. Different obstacles exist, but still need to be negotiated. How do you learn there are other life options when others are attempting to categorize you because of your pigmentation or dialect?

This book's stories describe some of these struggles. The message received is, that hopefully, each generation gets a little bit better in effectively, compassionately dealing with these situations so the next generations will not have to, and can tackle other social problems more threatening to all life.

Reality with a Moral!
James Clay has captured the struggles a Black America and through each has tacked on a much needed lesson. This book is different in the sense that not every thing turns out "hunky-dorie" but as in life if you look you can see where you went wrong and take measures to correct them. This book points that out. Without being overly preached to you can take to heart its messages and use them throughout life. This book is one of the most inspirational I have read in a long time, it is well written, and easily read--you won't put it down until it is done!

Memory Lane
As I read the Rockwood Files, I took a long walk down memory lane. Having grown up on Chicago's Westside in a neighbhorhood similiar to the one in this collection of short stories, it was hard to keep in mind that the book is fiction. The characters came alive for me, in that they reminded me so much of where I come from. The book not only re-connected me with my past, but also ushered me right into the present. I felt as though I could personally relate to the people, places and circumstances portrayed.

Each short story depicted the characters' real life encounters, their hardships and struggles along with realistic and believable conclusions. The author shared day to day activities, hopes and dreams as well as accomplishments and disappointments of the each character in a way that reminded me of life in general.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed The Rockwood Files and place it high on my list of recommended reading. Looking forward to reading this author's next publication.

Next to Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks is remembered!
Rosa Parks is best remembered as the Black woman who refused to give up her seat on a bus to a White person. However, she was much more that that. She was raised by grandparents because her mother taught school in another city. Her grandfather was the child of a slave owner and a slave. Rosa was determined to make a difference for her people. She and her husband took part in supporting the Scottsboro boys, Black youth who were accused of crimes they did not commit. Rosa became secretary of the NAACP and contributed greatly to her people, eventually receiving the Congressional Gold Metal award.

Rosa Parks
This book is a great read for a young child...maybe K-2nd grade. It was good at laying out for the reader the life of Rosa Parks.

I AM ROSA PARKS
This book is about a girl that had to give her seat up in a bus for a white person. She did not get up so they called the police. The police arrested her for not getting up.Then when Rosa got out of jail she made a statement saying, " Why do black people have to give up for white people?" They compromised and the black people do not have to give up there seat anymore. I liked this story because if Rosa Parks did not say anything we will be still separated from black people.

The Potter's Complete Book of Clay and Glazes
Published in Hardcover by Watson-Guptill Pubns (1991)
Author: James Chappell
Amazon base price: $25.95
Used price: $15.00
Average review score:

very promising , but delivers little .
Many of these glazes are from other sources , same for clay bodies , but have been altered slightly to be presented anew. No real emphasis on glaze toxicity . Fritting Barium and Lead does not guarantee safety in the finished glazes . It's a case of user be aware . No guidelines for glaze usuage on functional wares or decorative . Is the glaze able stand table use - who knows ? Another in the long line of Artistic Glaze books , Ho Humm.

Lots of details but very few illustrations.
I was disappointed by this book due to the lack of illustrations even if only of test tiles. If the author has tested these formulae I cannot understand why these illustrations were not included, but without them the reader is left having to conduct his own test to determine the effects achievable. If the author has not tested, then the book is little better than the lists of glazes available free on the internet. Either way the reader is left with a lot of work to do.

excellent resource...
...merely a tool, which definitley involves work on behalf of the reader. There are no pictures or test tiles to rely on; you have to try them yourself... a refreshing change from the results usually included in glaze books because you have to experiment and come up with your own results. I used the 1970's edition of this book as an undergraduate, which included the original recipes - not revised to exclude toxins - and while the revised edition is informative, it lacks the conversions for the "toxic" ingredients which many of us still use for the stunning results they provide. As a result some of the best recipes have been excluded from the new edition, and unfortunatley, the replacements and substitutions produce nowhere near the results gained from earlier editions. Still a good tool for the potter who enjoys glaze experimentation, but if you can score a copy of an unrevised edition(there are two- and they are out of print), you are sure to be pleased!

Caricatures in Clay With Tom Wolfe (A Schiffer Book for Hobbyists and Carvers)

Amazon base price: $12.95

These Caricatures are not Endearing!
Mr. Wolfe's caricatures are gross exaggerations of the human form and may not appeal to potential doll or figure sculpters. They are remarkable specifically because they are so grotesque! Mr. Wolfe does give several hints that would benefit dollmakers - create a concave hole in the end of an appropriately-sized dowel to sculpt eyeballs directly in the face clay, or to hold a separately created eyeball in position for adhering to the face clay. I'm glad I read through the book, but it's not one I intend to keep as reference material.
