great for kids
Although I'm currently in highschool, I still remember reading Barney in Space along with its prequel in my second grade classroom. Even back then I was a mini-geek and knew all of the school librarians by name. They knew me as the Barney kid, as I'd check this book out every other month. I would religiously read it multiple times from second grade when I first read it to the end of fifth grade when I graduated the school. My only disappoint was that the book was (and still is) out of print, so I couldn't have my own copy. This tale about a newly adopted orphan (a young boy named Barney) who must adjust to his new life has his work cut out when in the first book he met Tibbo, a boy from another planet. I won't give the first book away, but in Barney in Space (this book) Barney fears for Tibbo, who is stuck on a malfunctioning space ship, but has enough trouble himself when a crazy alien brainwashes Barney's friends/family and decides that Barney must be taken off Earth to the home planet. This story once kept me on the edge of my seat, and I now must leave this review to go see where I can buy a copy and 'relive my youth'.

Death At Their Heels
This mystery book takes you places you've never thought possible. Its a very good book, i highly recomend it.

Super!
This book does not take you to new places you never thought possible if you grew up in the Niagara Falls, NY area. (My comment on other reviews). I have been to the Algonquin Park described in the book. I like this author because her stories take place in Lewiston, NY and other places I have been to. I also like the author because she tells good stories.

FANTASTIC!
It is one of my favorite books and takes you places you never thought possible.

Freedom Crossing
Book review
By Molly Ashland

The book Freedom Crossing by Margaret Goff Clark is historical fiction about a family helping slaves escape to Canada. The book is ok in the beginning, but it starts to get interesting and exciting after reading a chapter or two. For example, in chapter 4, Bert and Laura's neighbor comes to their house and almost sees the slave they were hiding. The book was my favorite book we've read yet.

Book Review 5-16-03

Freedom Crossing by Margaret Goff Clark is a historical fiction book that is about people helping a slave get to Canada. I thought this book was very good. I liked it because it had suspense and action. It was hard to put the book down. I liked it when the slave catchers came and Martin (the slave) almost was caught. Then Bert comes and takes Martin and puts him in the coffin like secret compartment in Laura's room. I liked it how the character Laura, a girl, stuck up for herself. For example, when she figures out her family is part of the Underground Railroad and her brother, Bert and her friend Joel have Martin a fugitive slave in the house she tells them that slaves are good. There is also alot of history about slaves and how people helped. I think kids ages 9-12 should read it or if you like history or action.

Freedom Crossing Book Review
Book Review 5/16/03

Freedom Crossing by Margaret Goff Clark is a historical fiction book. It's about helping a slave get to Canada. I thought this was really good. It was great because I learned about history and it had a lot of action and suspense, so you would want to read more. What I also liked is when I helped crack the code for the note Joel gave Laura. There was a lot of action like when they saw Walt (the slave catcher) looking for Laura and Martin. I would recommend this book to people who like action and suspense.

Ever been kidnapped?...Kathy Young has!!!
The book, Who Stole Kathy Young?, is about two girls who are cousins named Meg and Kathy. Meg and Kathy both live in Texas. The story is set in summer and Meg and Kathy always the tourists that come for vacation. They saw two tourists that seemed a bit weird to them but didn't really think anything of it until they began to follow them. Next Meg sees Kathy a little further down he road being shoved into a van. Meg automatically thinks it must be those two tourists that they had seen earlier. Police search parties are sent out searching for Kathy but they can't find her. Meg decides that just waiting isn't helping so she starts to search for Kathy herself with a boy named Julian. While all of this searching for Kathy is going on, Kathy herself is trying to escape. I liked this book because it makes you want to keep on reading to figure out who the kidnapper was or what big thing was going to happen next in the story. It was very descriptive but some parts were a little bit hard to understand. Overall though the author got the main parts in the book that you needed to know out so it got easier to understand. The book was very well written and I couldn't guess who the kidnapper was before the names were actually revealed. The book made you want to keep reading on, and that's how you can tell if it's good or not. Out of 5 stars I give it 4 just because of those few parts that were hard to understand. I enjoyed this book and I do recommend it to others.

Not My Kind of Book!
They had a storm coming and it flooded the muse. Susan was a volunteer at the Fort Pit Museum in Pittsburgh. There was a belt and it had gotten stolen it was called the Wampum Belt. At first people thought it was an Indian, Frank Tallpine, or the crazy photographer but then again every one was a suspect even Susan, though she new she didn't do it. Susan's friend Eric believed Susan didn't do it and he had faith in her. Susan thought that she should find who did it. When she started to get on their trail she had to save herself from being killed. That is briefly how the book is explained.
Well I didn't really like this book because mystery books aren't my type of books. If I liked mystery books I probably would have like this book. Myself I liked Petey, I like novels. I give this book two stars out of five.
