wonderful trip!
Mordecai polishes his translations of Chinese poetry, moves the junk & households of other Californians, and stays on various back porches & Big Sur getaways finding love and friendship in the 1970's of our memories. Along the way, we ourselves grow to love and appreciate the joys of these marginal characters, the heirs of Steinbeck's Mack and the boys of CANNERY ROW. A magical book!

A witty portrayal of bohemian life in Big Sur 1970s
Mordecai is a zen/bohemian who interacts with the entire social structure of the Big Sur and Monterey area through the moving and hauling business that he runs along with his irrepressible sidekick Buck. Between them they get into more trouble than his good luck (melanoia- the opposite of paranoia))can stand. A comic look at both the bohemian and yuppie foibles of the early 1970s.

Excellent automobile reference.
I beleive that anyone looking for an automobile that could have been made in the US, will find it in this book. Very well written and informative.

The Best Source for Researching American Automobile History!
The Author's of this book have done a fantastic job of researching and documenting the early history of the American automobile. I have found this book to be an invaluable reference in researching the history of the automobile stock and bond certificates which I collect.

Even the most obscure and low-key manufacturer is covered. This book is well worth it's price and my only criticism would be...if all other readers used it as much as I do...please publish the next edition in hardcover!!

countercultural experimental poetry
Clark Coolidge's writing is some of the most thoroughly modern I've ever known. With subjects ranging from plasticine to a bolas, & with another interesting collage thing (visual art, not the poetry, though the poetry is kind of like that too...), this is a great book to have.

Outstanding, authoritative account of early Oregon history
This project is by far the best accounting of the ill-fated 1845 Stephen Meek led wagon train I have ever read. The authors have done an exceptional job in piecing together the tragic events and human errors that contibuted to making this one of the most moving stories from the Manifest Destiny era. The genealogical references alone make this document a must for every family researcher.

Knowlege is Power
This particular work is flowing with useable and believable knowlege! You don't have to be a rocket-scientist to comprehend it, but you must have a passion for the deep. This book takes you on a mind-boggling trail as you see how your reactions are all linked to a substantiated incident. Take for instance the bell theory that is mentioned in the very first paragraph. Your mind is triggerd and tricked so easily! I highly recommend this work in its entirity. It soaks into your thought pattern!

Not just for Catholic readers
This book was given to me as a gift from the parish whose Catholic grammar school I had attended. I am an atheist, but I found this book to be interesting, very personal, and enlightening. It is one of the few Christian texts that I have found relevant to my life.

Keith Clark discusses his personal experiences with God, outside the ritual of the Catholic Church. He shows us ways that he has experienced God in the world and his life, both unexpectedly and in times/places that he made himself available to such experience.

Making space and symbols for ourselves is something humans do innately, but Keith Clark gives us ways to use that capability to open up our selves to the unknown, the mystical, and the awe-inspiring. Whether you are Catholic or not, this book is at worst an interesting personal testament and at best a beautiful statement about humanity and the experience of what many call the divine.

More like an opinionated Hamptons Yellow Pages
This book would be more useful for those who are VERY frequent vistors to the Hamptons -- but I found it to be less introductory than I wanted as someone who doesn't care where to find a good chimney cleaning company.

WoW! Is this book helpful!
This is, hands down, the best and most practical guidebook to the Hamptons I have seen! Chock-a-block full of really useful information--and done in an anecdotal style that is really easy to read!

Better study guides are available.
I purchased the guide to help me study for the PE. This book is divided into several chapters, each covering a different area of mechanical engineering. The chapters were written by various contributing authors. Although some of the chapters were helpful in my studies, overall I was very disappointed with the book. There are numerous errors in the formulas and example problems which can lead to a lot of time wasted on figuring out why your answer does not agree with theirs. For example, a good deal of the text from a chapter on kinematics and dynamics of machinery came from Norton's book Design of Machinery. However, the PE review author did not copy some of the equations correctly. Fortunately, I had both books so I could find the discrepancy with a minimum of wasted time.

Another disappointment was the chapter on control systems. Most of the chapters had several example problems so that you could see how to solve them. However, the control systems had only three problems, two of which were on how to find transfer functions. The information in the chapter was difficult to follow and instead I relied on my undergraduate books.

Also disappointing was that the answers to the problems from each chapter were in a separate book. The author claims that this was done so that you could bring the review book into the exam with you. However, to the best of my knowledge, in every state you are allowed to bring any material that you wish with you to the exam.

A better option for a review book would be Mechanical Engineering Reference Manual for the Pe Exam : For the Pe Exam by Michael R. Lindeburg. This title is available from Amazon.com.

No mater which book you choose, in the end you need to study pretty hard to pass this exam. Good luck with your studies.
