The 13th Directorate by Barry Chubin
I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read thrillers, especially about the U.S Government and the Soviet Union that deal with the Cold War. A warning to young readers; this book deals with suspense, politics, drugs, hi-tech sex, espionage, and even glasnost. This book is about a man named Harold Adrian Russell. The arch-traitor and leader of this secret organization called the 13th Directorate. A legendary spy that is planning a single operation and members of another secret agency called KGB. For twenty years they wanted to put a Soviet-controlled President in the White House. Nick Delan is from the streets of Chicago's Italian ghetto by way of Vietnam. He is the top operative for the United States's secret agency. But in all his years as a top-drawer assassin, he was shocked when he heard his orders to kill the next president of the United States before he can be elected. If Nick fails, America will lose the cold war without even knowing it. I don't like spoiling the ending because it ruins the purpose of reading this book. I read this book cover to cover and it is one of the best books I ever read. I like books about this kind of topic. Have fun and enjoy it because once you start reading it you never want to put it down.

Awesome Book
I read this book back in the summer of '88. This book kicks a**. Find it if you can. It will make you happy. I have been looking for a copy since I loaned mine out long ago. It has a crisp linear progression, high-tech sexploitation by the KGB, all the gadgits you still don't know exist, and a nice artsy denoument.
