This is an excellent book written by some of the leading authorities on NAFTA and GATT (Including Ralph Nader). Each "chapter" written by a different person is short and to the point. You can read as much or as little as you want, without feeling the need to finish the chapter. This book WILL make you sweat with anger at points. It is an excellent read.

Thanks to Mr. Choate the reader can learn how some American citizens at even the highest levels of government have profited from a system of influence peddling that has become informally institutionalized by particular professionals without concern for America and Americans. The reader will be horrified. The reader will become disgusted. But, the reader will be informed and a citizen's judgement is only as good as their information. This thoroughly documented information is based on the public records of the time. How about an update, Mr. Choate?

Dr. Choate steps outside the limits of the "entrenched" media and reports on many areas of foreign influence in our government. Great reading for anyone wanting to know how our government REALLY works.

Pat Choate's comment above is very funny since it tries to minimize the foolishness of those who would want to construct trade barriers to save jobs in the short run, only to loose them in the long run. This book is out of print BECAUSE it was wrong then and it is wrong now!

Could someone tell these guys that their careers as international economic experts just didn't work out?

I re-read this book just to check the accuracy of the predictions. The corruption has been exposed. The economic problems and job losses have occured. The 'Giant Sucking Sound' has been felt all across our manufacturing industries. Ross and Pat were right again.
