Pre-System/360 View of Computers
The Second Edition was written just before the IBM System/360 changed the world of Computing with a single family of compatible computers suitable for business and most scientific functions -- a novel idea at the time. It offers a fascinating glimpse into that time period. And, as with his other best sellers, Ned does a great job of offering the potential computer buyer the kind of unbiased advice that was needed at the time.

NOT Recommended
As a practicing COBOL programmer in the accounting systems arena, I found this book to be utterly useless. It's written in a dry, academic style, and the examples are excruciatingly dull. A waste of time and money.
