AMAZING
Ok amazing is kinda a strong word, but as far as understanding goes, this book is awesome. I mean it has everything that you would think to ask and I have read alot of books, but I HIGHLY recommend this one to be your first and I am a pretty tough critic.

Excellent introduction to metaphysics
This is an excellent introduction to the psychic dimension and metaphysics in general.
In part one, the author explores some universal concepts that serve to explain the nature of reality and how psychic awareness is a natural part of that reality. The work of Fritjof Capra, Gary Zukav, Lawrence LeShan, Rupert Sheldrake and Carl Jung is referred to in these chapters and it makes interesting reading.
Part two discusses some of the more common psychic experiences and how to evoke them - through intuition, dreams, meditation and hypnosis. I found the chapters on dreams and dreaming the most interesting. When we dream, our vibrational pattern shifts and we tune to a different spectrum of reality. And if you want to become psychic in a graceful manner, you must allow it to grow out of the practice of meditation.
Part three probes the role of the body, mind and soul in psychic awareness. It discusses the hologram, morphogenetic fields, the conscious, subconscious, superconscious and infinite mind. It also includes a "second verse" to the children's bedtime prayer "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep" in these words received in trance:
"I thy child forever play, about thy knees at close of day, within thy arms I now shall creep, and learn thy wisdom while I sleep."
Part four provides some experiments for the reader that wishes to venture into this exciting realm, and discusses the ultimate purpose of psychic awareness. It includes planning, dream recording, using a pendulum, mental telepathy, open channelling and cultivating one's spirituality. The book concludes with a discussion of psychic awareness as harbinger of global changes, followed by a bibliography and index.
This is a highly impressive text, dealing with all the relevant aspects of the psychic realm and how to cultivate one's psychic powers. The style is engaging throughout and easy to understand. I highly recommend it as a sensible guide to those who are interested in metaphysics but confused by the large number of disciplines and books available.

One of the best books I ever read
This is really a good book. It gives a very lucid explanation on how amazing intelligence and psychic abilities can be. It covers a lot of material and is written with an holographic overtone. Learn how to awake from hypnosis - as it were a sugar cube in your hands.

Two years later, it's the same gig
This is one of my favorite books. It's curious to me how I come across in the review below, all those months ago. Since that writing, I have come a long way in my spirituality, and Edgar Cayce (and this book, quite truthfully) played an important role in that. This book is comprised of Cayce's readings and covers a broad array of topics. It is engrossing. I have it on my nightstand and reference it often. Still.

I am no longer worried about my past fundamentalism. I am, however, still stoking the fire ignited by my interest in Cayce, and spurred on by this book. I truly would recommend it to anyone interested in the subject of PSI or the man himself.

Peace.

An Epiphany for the Imprisoned Fundamentalist
Coming from a very apocalyptic religious background, I was fearful to even open this book. I knew when ordering it that it would deal with such "heretical" concepts as past lives. However, I am so very glad I purchased it! This companion quotes directly from Cayce's readings, and at length, but not simply on past lives. There is poignant affirmation and revelation pertaining to God, soul development, reincarnation, death and life, soul mates, Jesus, even nutrition. I would be lying if I did not admit that this book testified to something deep within me. Simply seemed logical, each page, and as a result, so freeing!

I am not asserting that all things proceeding from Cayce's mouth are infallible---I'm too much of a Cacye novice to say anything of the sort. But his beliefs, concepts and practical applications certainly add some much-needed "gray" to the harsh black and white mentality of today's religions. How foolish it is to actually believe that God, in his infinite grandeur, can be contained in entirety within the confines of the Bible! Common sense, as well as resources such as this particular companion, will open the eyes of anyone longing to explore spiritual truths and lead richer, fuller lives. I enjoyed this book immensely and would recommend it to anyone truly seeking something more, something real, something eternal.

Cayce is compelling and so is this book!
This reviewer read about Cayce over a decade ago. Though I am a Hindu, what Cayce said both in his waking life and during his readings impressed me profoundly! He speaks about basic values that cut across religious boundaries and go straight to the heart! As I read more of Cayce I felt very keenly the want of a book which would provide a handy compendium of what he said and spoke about (on topics as diverse as Life, Death and Religion to how best to care for one's teeth!). This book provides exactly that! It is inspiring, it is handy and you cannot read it without feeling impelled to take a fresh look at your own life and the world and the people around you. However, you need to remember that Cayce's advice was both general and specific to persons. So read the book carefully and follow it wisely and your life will be the richer for it.

Highly recommended!

A Wonderful Book!
Without question this is a wonderful book that addresses many of our personal, human problems, including how to deal and cope with them. This book is not just about sleep but about living a meaningful life. If you want a quick fix or magic bullet for sleep difficulties, look elsewhere. But if you want to examine your heart, mind, and even your soul, then you will find, like I did by following the suggestions given in the book, that "Live Well, Sleep Well" is an excellent guide to a sense of peace and tranquility. It's not entirely about the number of hours we sleep, but the quality of our sleep.

Highly Informative and Helpful
Live Well is a highly informative book and very "user friendly." It's not only about getting quality sleep, but about the quality of life, and how balanced living improves our lives. It's well worth your time and attention.

Addresses a need for an improved and more refreshing sleep
Contemporary urban life is hallmarked by chronic and habitually insufficient and inadequate sleep for millions of people. In Live Well, Sleep Well: The Holistic Way To A Good Night's Sleep, Dan Campbell addresses this epidemic health problem by surveying modern sleep research in conjunction with the information on sleep in the Edgar Cayce readings. Campbell reveals why we need sleep, what happens when sleep suffers, and how to improve sleep through a blend of modern medicine and the spiritual/health advice to be found in the Cayce readings. Practical, in-depth, meaningful, insightful, and "user friendly", Live Well, Sleep Well is very highly recommended reading for the non-specialist general reader seeking to directly address a need for an improved and more refreshing sleep.

Thanks for a Larger Vision
I've read this book 3 times. It is sometimes difficult to follow (the concepts are so big and in some cases radically new - 2 "Adams"?) and the author sometimes comes across a bit patronizing. But, if you're interested in reading about the "bigger picture" of life - why we are here, where we really are on the scale of soul evolution, you really should take a look.

Some may laugh at the notion of reincarnation, Atlantis and a soul that had had 33 incarnations by the time he was born as Jesus. But my own intuition tells me I've been given a huge spiritual gift.

I found it to be inspiring, challenging and thought provoking.

most overwhelming
This book, althought short, took me 2 months to read. I had to keep re-reading chapters to absorb the information and sometimes cross-reference it. Was something that I was truly searching for, the beginnings and the tie-in to all of humanity. It may be a supposition, but much food for thought here. I will be re-reading this soon, many times. Most thought provoking if one is open to all.

If You Read One Book in Your Life, This Should Be It!
I started reading this book at 6:00 AM and did not put it down until I finished it twelve hours later. I have read a lot of self-help books in my life, but this one actually changed my life. The answers are all here. Ever wonder about the pyramids, Atlantis, The flat altars found in the dense South American jungles, ancient advanced civilizations? All of the answers are here. Read it with an open mind and let yourself absorb it. What a wonderful experience! This book is a story of the soul from the time it was created. It offers an explanation of what we are doing here and why. It will explain why one child is born into the lap of luxury while another dies of starvation at the age of three in Biafra. It will explain love at first site and why you despise someone on your first meeting for no apparent reason. It will give meaning to your life and your circumstances. More importantly, without preaching, it will help you discover ways to change those circumstances, IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO SO. Forget the self help books. Read this one and enjoy

Edgar Cayce Readings Made Accessible!
James Brown has rendered the most complete categorization of the Cayce Readings I have seen in book form. Rather than having to plow through all the Readings, searching for tidbits of interest, his book allows the reader to pick a topic and go straight to it. He has done an excellent job of commenting on the Readings in ways that add insights into what, at times, can be the archaic language used by Cayce when in a trance.

James has combined the Readings in ways that create commentaries on topics such as a new world view, Christian spirituality, spiritual laws, abundant life, reincarnation, healing, and much more. GIVE GOD A CHANCE is an invaluable primer on the Cayce Readings. I highly recommend it to all who are truly interested in what the most scientifically verified intuitive in the world, Edgar Cayce, had to say.

solid food for spiritual seekers
This book asks almost all of the questions that most people ask about the Cayce readings, and answers them with direct quotes from the readings. Chapters about science vs. religion, applied spirituality, and world transformation can almost stand alone, but the patient reader will find them tied together with a Christian world view that avoids denominationalism or negativity towards other religions. Soul growth is a central theme. Spirituality is defined not so much in terms of any particular practices, but in expressing love for God and all of mankind.

Great book to share with your minister, or use for reference
"Give God a Chance" is full of Cayce readings that often paraphrase passages from the Bible. The advice on meditation, dream analysis, psychology, and other concepts all encourage spiritual growth from a Christian perspective. Ministers and theologians, who might be inclined to reject Cayce's work because of things said or written by others, should read this book to see firsthand what the readings say. This book is inspirational and informative. A "must read".

I know the author and he is brilliant on this subject!
I have been to workshops with John Van Auken and he has
a tremendous capacity and knowledge of ancient wisdom...that
seems to supercede what one can learn from distilling normal
history books, on site investigations, and even reading the
Edgar Cayce material...its as if he "lived there, lived then,
and has a remarkable capacity to remember it all and reveal it
clearly and effectively"....
This book is another splendid example of John's crystal
clear and profoundly deep capacity to share his knowledge
in a manner that both layman and passionate scholar can grasp.

Knowledge Lost, Knowledge Found
What is a myth? Perhaps it's a story that isn't true on the outside, but is true on the inside. The tension between what our heart's intuition tells us and what we can actually experience on the outside is a source of great creativity and development, both personal and for the human race. Cayce's story of the history and destiny of humanity is a lesson here. Not only does his story include our spiritual creation and its purpose, but also the external history of life on planet earth, including predictions about major changes ahead. Is this story a myth? For many of those who contemplate it, his story is stimulating and spiritually fulfilling, which is what a good myth should do, whereas traditional religion has lost its ability to inspire. But Cayce presents his story as being literally true. Did things really happen the way he tells it?One of the fascinating aspects of his story concerns the existence of "Halls of Records," where this history is recorded. He said that one such Hall of Records was in Yucatan, Mexico. Furthermore, he said that at this site, there was also evidence of another key element in Cayce's story--the (in)famous "Firestone Crystal" of Atlantis, which was their source of power, but which had been misused and helped bring down that civilization.I vividly remember discovering the Edgar Cayce material and having my imagination sparked as never before by the story of the Firestone and its connection with Mayan imagery. Soon I was making pilgrimages to Yucatan to search for the Hall of Records. Whereas the external search was expensive and proved beyond my skill range, an inner search was also in progress and was more rewarding. I developed a symbolic meaning for the Firestone crystal; namely, that there is a dormant power of consciousness that can be awakened in spiritual community. Through group dream work (such as Atlantic University's Sundance: The Community Dream Journal) and interpersonal intuition of the heart, I was able to verify the tremendous creative power and wisdom that may be unleashed through cooperation when individuality is given equal footing with the unitive effort. As I became more involved with researching the inner meaning of the Firestone, my fascination with Yucatan and prehistory faded. But today I am inspired to turnabout, to look again with interest toward the outer side of the story. What motivates this revival comes through the publication of a significant book, The lost hall of records: Edgar Cayce's forgotten record in the ancient Yucatan (Eagle Wing Books). The author's, John Van Auken, a past executive director at A.R.E., and Lora Little, Ed.D., a psychologist, have spent years correlating information in the Edgar Cayce material with archaeological findings. In their meticulously researched book they have integrated a panoramic view of Cayce's spiritual story with scientific findings that take the story out of realm of pure myth and into the realm of history. Archaeological research, including advances in the interpretation of Mayan heiroglyphs and what they reveal about the Mayans' astonishing astronomical observations, has made it possible as never before to suggest that Cayce's story just might be true on the outside. Moreover, Van Auken and Little's research has made a significant breakthrough that makes their book as newsworthy as it is inspiring.A key point in Cayce's remote viewing of the Mayan archaeological findings concerned some artifacts, emblems of the Firestone, that were stored in the University of Pennsylvania museum. Previous investigations had failed to locate these artifacts in the museum's collection. The authors make a strong case, however, that the artifacts in question were those found in the site known as Piedras Negras, a Mayan ruins in Guatamala. Not in the state of Yucatan, Mexico, but part of the Mayan civilization in the general area of the Yucatan pennisula, nevertheless Piedras Negras could easily be described by Cayce's psychic perception as "Yucatan." Making this slight shift in focal point has unleased a provocative set of new findings. Athough there isn't space here to detail all the nitty gritty that the authors combine to paint a credible hypothesis about the external validation of Cayce's story, suffice it to say that they've excited me again to the possibility that there just might be a Hall of Records in that tropical jungle, as well as a model of the Firestone crystal.I am reminded of Cayce's statement that the records would be found and could be read only when the consciousness of the seeker matched the contents of those records. The lesson for me is that while an inner search is important, not to be forgotten is that it is equally important to look to the outer reality as well. Maybe it is time for me to make a return trip to the Mayan ruins to see what I shall see.

More Grist For The Path
If you are interested in broadening your horizons from more traditional ideas and take a look at what they did not teach you in school in your history classes then this book is a great read. If you already have some background as I did it will fill in some of the blanks for you. It certainly is well documented and detailed. This book definitely challenges my Catholic School view of how things began...probably not the way the Protestants taught it either. Having "knocked around" the "psychic" literature (Cayce, Seth, and a few others) I already was quite familiar with Edgar Cayce. This book deepens my understanding of the man and his work. Over the last 10 years my massage therapist has been telling me about all things Mayan and what is said to be coming in 2012 and beyond. I thought he was a bit "out there" if you know what I mean. Now I have some understanding of what he has been talking about at a more "rational" level. I particularly liked the sections of the book on the Akashic records and the Cayce "reading" of those records. I also appreciated the parts of the Bible that were discussed and what the Bible's authors were trying to say in story form. I would recommend this book for those who are interested in furthering their knowledge in the area of spirituality, psychic phenomena, archeology, and anthropology. It will leave you with plenty of food for thought.

Very good book
I am glad that i have had the oppurtunity to read such a beautiful book. Very inspiring and thought provoking. Beautiful and sincere analysis of reincarnation. Very very well written

The case for perfect justice in the world
Cerminara demonstrates the enormous reasonableness of the doctrine of reincarnation. In the process, she also makes a strong case for the existence of perfect justice in the world, despite appearances to the contrary. Her arguments are illustrated by excerpts from the Edgar Cayce readings, but one need not accept these readings to appreciate the force of Cerminara's argument. Read this book and learn to take the LONG view of things. You'll be glad you did.

Answers all questions about reincarnation--and then some.
Gina Cerminara begins this book with a very beautifully-written chapter about why the study of reincarnation is important to us in this day and age. It is not in spite of the leaps and bounds we have made in scientific research but because of them. We have penetrated the heart of the atom and have seen distant galaxies. It is time that we look into ourselves and uncover the mysteries of our souls.

This book was so well-written that I was shocked to discover, after reading it, that it had first been published decades ago. Its message is timely and significant, no matter when you are in time when you read it. What I like best about this book is that it answers little questions about reincarnation that other books do not. It is perhaps for this reason that it is so good and so convincing.

WARNING!!! Since Edgar Cayce's readings had many references to the Bible, especially to what is found in the Gospels, many of his readings are phrased in Christian terminology.

Chapter Two is about Edgar Cayce's life. Since Gina Cerminara's research is based on the Cayce readings, she had to give a good background of the man, which I have to say, from my knowledge of Cayce's life, is an accurate and sensitive portrayal of the man.

Chapter Three describes the first reactions to Cayce's life readings. Cayce himself was appalled by them--but he was soon convinced otherwise. The reasoning which Cayce used to convince himself that the readings were valid and not evil at all can be used to convince others who, like him, are not skeptical of the readings as much as they are afraid of believing in them.

Chapter Four gives information on PHYSICAL KARMA. Anyone who was born with a disease or defect--or anyone whose physical body has ever had to suffer--will find a reason for the madness of life in this chapter. Here, Cerminara also explains karmic spheres of operation (my term), which show how karma created in one life manifests in the next.

Chapter Five is about the Karma of Mockery. Though it is a very short chapter, is message is very clear: Do not laugh at the sufferings of others, for those sufferings may in turn fall upon you.

Chapter Six contains a very controversial argument about Jesus as the Savior of humankind. Christian dogma states that Jesus died to save us all from our sins, but reincarnation must prove this dogma wrong. Nobody can save us from our sins but ourselves. How did Jesus heal all those sick people then and forgive all those sinners? The answer comes later.

Chapter Seven is about Suspended Karma. It will explain why the karma begun in one life may take hundreds, even thousands of years, to come full circle. A person may have started the ball rolling in Ancient Rome but not have reaped the karma until the Crusades.

Chapter Eight discusses how karma affects health. People are sick so that they can live out their karma, but they can also heal themselves and erase the karma. Is this paradox? Not really. Cerminara points out a case in which a man asked Cayce for a cure, received one, tried it, found that it worked for several months, then experienced a relapse. When he wrote back to complain, another reading was done. Whoever spoke through Cayce about the man said, "What does the entity want to be healed for? That it may gratify its own physical appetites? That it may add to its own selfishness? Then, if so, it had better remain as it is." We cannot erase our karma if we have not learned our lesson. This chapter is full of other fascinating ideas about how sick people can be and are healed.

Chapter Nine brings psychology into the picture. How do our past lives affect our personalities, our talents, our characters, our beliefs, our likes and dislikes? Cerminara explains in her clear and readable style.

Chapter Ten takes the ideas in the previous chapter further. The soul is shown as an entity on the road to full consciousness. Cerminara shows how extroverts become introverts, and vice-versa, when enough lives are lived for them to have experiences that cause them to see things anew each birth.

Chapter Eleven shows how making judgements can also create karma. "Judge not that ye not be judged" takes on new meaning as case after case of entities who condemned faults in others only to be born tormented with those very faults is presented.

Chapter Twelve is about the past-life roots of mental abnormalities, such as phobias and fetishes. It also explains the strange dreams many people have that are really scenes from past lives. Here, Cerminara answers an often-asked question: "Why should we be tormented by things we have done in the past if we do not even remember them?" (The answer is that forgetfulness of detail does not invalidate memory of principle. A person may not remember being racist in a past life, but the racist feelings will remain unless he or she learns what should be learned.) The way Cerminara tackled that question is typical of the smooth and logical way she handles other objections to reincarnation found in this chapter and throughout the rest of the book.

Chapter Thirteen should be of interest to FEMINISTS as it is about women in particular. Not only does it show how a woman's karma works in a marriage, it also shows how karma keeps women from marrying at all. (Note: This book was written during the 1950's, when women were not as free as they are today.)

Chapter Fourteen is about those who do not get married, the "lonely ones." Yes, there are many different karmic reasons behind loneliness and aloneness.

Chapter Fifteen looks more deeply at the karmic problems in a marriage.

Chapter Sixteen explores separation, divorce and infidelity. It contains interesting information on what the Cayce readings advised about divorce.

Chapter Seventeen is about the karmic ties that connect parents and children. It answers questions about why children were born into their families: what we have to learn from our parents and what we have to learn from our children.

Chapter Eighteen is a continuation of the previous chapter. This time, it is about karmic entanglements in whole families. It answers the question: "Why was I thrown together with this group of souls at this point in time? What are we supposed to work out?"

Chapter Nineteen is the least-frightening part of the book, as it is about how our skills, abilities and talents are karmic rewards from hard work done in past lives.

Chapter Twenty gives advice on how to choose one's vocation. Cerminara presents three concepts that show up over and over again in Cayce readings about vocational choice: 1)"Determine your ideal, your inner life goal, and seek to accomplish it." 2)"Strive to be of service to others" 3)"Use that in hand; start where you are."

Chapter Twenty-One is another wonderfully-worded chapter of commentary. Here, Cerminara advises people not to be frustrated or depressed at what life has handed them, because what goes around does come around. The poor shall be rich; and the rich shall be poor. The key is to create good karma and try to erase the bad.

Chapter Twenty-Two explores the inner contradictions people may notice within themselves. One minute they are determined leaders; the next they are shy followers. One secret of karma is learning how to balance the many parts of yourself so that all the lives you have ever lived can come full-circle within you.

Chapter Twenty-Three answers many random questions about reincarnation.

Chapter Twenty-Four shows how a belief in reincarnation can be useful in giving people workable philosophies for their lives. It isn't just conceptual, fascinating and intriguing: knowledge of reincarnation is also useful.

Finally, Chapter Twenty-Five presents the conclusion, which is a summary of why Edgar Cayce's readings are valid evidence of the reality of reincarnation. It is not a heavy chapter. Cerminara's argument is written down in short sentences that anyone can quickly understand and repeat in defense, if necessary.

A Golden Cord connects the teachings of the Master Soul
Glenn Sanderfur traces the Golden Cord that connects the many lives of the Master Soul who became the Christ. Sanderfur uses the psychic readings of Edgar Cayce to put the pieces of the great puzzle together, and to explain the mystical workings of the One God and the Holy Spirit. I had bits and pieces of this mystery presented to me through other works through many years of searching, but LIVES OF THE MASTER puts it all together in a concise well written work. Glenn Sanderfur does an excellent job of gracefully and insightfully telling the story that begins with Amilius and Adam and ends with Jesus who became the Christ. This is an exciting and easy read - the suspence of a mystery that keeps you turning pages and feeling that special feeling you only get when you discover great "truths".

A challenge for the many.
This book has been a personal favorite of mine for some years. I re-read it often and gain even more information as I study in the Bible and Edgar Cayce readings and other Ancient texts, about JESUS.

This book challenges you to study more, learn more, and create an even closer, more personal relationship with The MASTER.

Very Interesting And Enlightening
If you believe this information (I do) it explains mysteries about not only the Savior but all of human life. The author is knowledgeable about various translations of the bible plus a lot of other old documentation which did not make it into the bible. Cayce's comments are invaluable for filling in and correcting details from the scriptures such as the rumor that Christ may have been romantically involved with Mary Magdaline and what was the real reason that Judas turned Him over to the authorities. For example Cayce indicates the accusations against Christ were civil in nature such as telling people not to pay taxes. In His life experiences the Lord experienced all sorts of things including imprisonment, being a parent, and warfare. As Joshua the Christ entity killed some people. I suspect these souls were people who would later be involved in His crucifiction so maybe this was His revenge for events that would happen in the future. I believe a person can affect the past by things they do now or in the future since God exists outside of time. An important question is raised about why Christianity considered and continues to consider the idea of reincarnation heresy. Cayce indicates it was a short cut intended to simplify the information for the masses. Certainly something was lost there but at least this information is now available for those who want to explore the idea further. The art work on the cover of the book is nice also. The background is from the famous painting by Michaelangelo from the Cistine chapel I think and then at the bottom there are smaller pictures related to some of the life experiences of 'the Master'.

Kevin Todeshi is amazingly clear
I am a professional clairvoyant with the Edgar Cayce
organization and teach intuition in ARE programs. I know
Kevin personally. As a person who contacts the Akashic records
in my readings, I can tell you that Kevin has an amazingly
deep and clear grasp on the subject. I sometimes wonder if
he is not Mr. Cayce reincarnated himself!
The stories in this book clarify a complex subject and make
it accessible. Read anything written by Kevin and you will
feel the purity and clarity of a crystal bell within it. He
has a way of making the obscure graspable.

A Fascinating Account of the Past, Present, and Future
I loved this book! It presents a fascinating account of how we constantly draw upon our soul's past in the present and how our actions in the present help pull together the substance of our futures. It should be must reading for anyone who wants to read about how life and reincarnation work together. Read this book and then read Todeschi's book on Soul Development: Edgar Cayce's Approach to a New World. The information will change your life.

A TRUE LEARNING EXPERIENCE
This book explains what the Akashic Records are, how Edgar Cayce accessed them while giving his many readings, and how they influence all of our lives everyday. The author provides invaluable information on how the records impact our lives, and explain why we experience what we experience. This is a must read for anyone seeking greater knowledge of their personal history (past lives and experiences) and mankind's history.
