This book offered practical ways to bring traditions to daily family life. Anecdotes and recipes instead of preaching--I've already started using some of the suggestions with my own family.

God is Always with Me

I first heard this story read at a funeral and was moved to tears. Not that the story is sad, on the contrary it is a wonderful way to explain the concept of eternal life and reassuring to all that death is not an end. The writer's illustrations are gentle and charming. I can't wait to read this story to all my grandchildren.

When I was younger, we lived with my grandparents and my Grandpa was a pastor. So my grandma always used to read us christian and prayer books. This is probably one of my favorite. In this book it talks about a little child connecting with God and understanding what it means to actually pray. It talks about how the child is thankfull for everything around him. It also talks about how when you ask God for something, you really have to listen for the answer because it is not always obvious what the answer is going to be. It says that the little voices in your head are the answers from God. I also liked this book, because it says that the child talks to God whenever he needs to and is not embarrassed about it. And it says that the child likes to talk to God the most before bedtime, and when i was a child, that was my favorite time to pray with my grandma also.

I Know Who Jesus Is

I KNOW WHO JESUS IS is a delightfully written and illustrated 23 page book for preschool-Grade 3 (Ages 3-7.) My daughter loves any book that has pictures of Jesus. This is a very special story of Jesus' life and ministry--in short, easy to read and understand words but interesting enough for an older child to proudly read. This is the only one we have in the series but in the back of the book it shows the other 5 books and none of them have a picture of Jesus on their cover. (The other books are: 'God Must Like to Laugh,' 'I Can Talk with God,' 'My Big Family at Church,' 'God's Love Is For Sharing,' and 'God is Always With Me.') However in "I KNOW WHO JESUS IS" Jesus is pictured on every full page spread...

This book is great for parents to read with their children. It is very accurate to the actual Bible stories, but written in a way that children can understand. The questions at the end of each story help you to see if your child is understanding the details of the stories. I've looked at a lot of Bible story books for our nearly 3 year old and this is the best one I've found.

The simple retelling of the Parable of the Mustard seed is enhanced by the evocative illustrations. Ms Caswell is keenly aware that children can and do mediatate on the unknown and are in awe of the mystery of God. I have used this book with preschoolers for years; they are always attracted to it. It tells the story again (they already are familiar with the scripture) without overtelling it. The pictures are lovely and invite the child to ponder the power of the seed; it doesn't just come from water, soil and sunlight!

I was attracted to the book by it's cover, showing children of all ethnic groups. I said, WOW. This will be great for my Sunday School class. I was pleased with the opening story of how we are all the same on the inside and THEN, for the next 170 pages, with a few minute exceptions, there are nothing but Caucasion children. I left the book in the store.
