Want to know how to keep a room full of kids quiet?
Buy this book.

Simply stated, one of the best hands-on books I've come across. Stretched over the span of a summer this book managed to keep an entire neighborhood of kids (ages 5-12) busy and interested in the world around them.

An excellent addition to any library, home or school, this book tends to be more accessible to kids than its companion Explorabook. The experiments are easy for anyone of any age to execute.

Its not just for kids
I originally bought the book for an 11 year old young man as Christmas persent. My son (26) looked it over and asked if I really was going to give it to the 11 year old? Other members of my family have now seen this and asked that I order more for various family members. Its very interactive and contains many interesting and intriguing bits of information. The cover alone is a wonder. I wound up giving the book to my grandson for Christmas and he's 7 years old. Now his dad is enjoying it, as well. I can picture and imagine everyone enjoying this Museum in a book.

A Book that Tells the Truth about Life
EarthSearch is amazing! It is a book that tells the truth in ways that can really helps kids (and all readers) understand issues like wealth and poverty and their effect on nutrition around the world. The examples used are really eye-opening, such as having a large, medium and small pile of M&M's, dividing up the class based on where a spinner lands (note lack of choice in the matter of where the spinner lands), then giving the largest pile of candy to the smallest group, which represent the wealthiest people, the medium to the the middle group, and the smallest to the largest group of people, who are representing the poorest poeple on the planet. These are the types of lessons kids need to learn so that they can work towards improving the basic rights that need to be seen the world over. If any teachers are considering this book, get it! It is important. I am 22 years old and if my girlfriend was not a teacher, I would have bought the copy we found today rather than letting her buy it. I think if this book does not arrive to me as a gift this holiday season, I will be making the purchase soon.

(Other examples in the book, among others: recycling, trash management, different types of money around the world, and more!)

The Amazing Bubblething
John Cassidy and David Stein did a great job on this book and the "Bubblething" that come with the book. I have a little girl who loves bubbles and this book and toy have been great fun. The truth be known I am having as much fun blowing these HUGE bubbles as she is chasing them down and popping them. I should warn you though all the kids on the block will be stopping by asking you to blow bubbles for them.

Buy the book and the Bubble Thing!
This book, the Unbelievable Bubble Book, is about a toy that produces the biggest soap blown, amateur-created, bubbles in the world.

After the instructions on how to use The Bubble Thing, the book covers all aspects of bubbles (history, science) in an entertaining styling accessible to children and young adults. And older adults, too, whoever cares to open it.

I really enjoyed this book, and guffawed at the author's humor. John Cassidy is an amusing writer. He courageously writes humor right alongside scientific fact, and pulls it off. His writing skills have obviously developed past those deserving a bunch of rotten vegetables thrown at him.

The inventor of the Bubble Thing, David Stein, has an interesting and personal story to tell about his invention. You get the impression from reading his story that there was no financial incentive behind the work he put into making his incredible toy. But he knew what he wanted, performance-wise, from the start. He cared about getting the best bubbles he could, but to entertain his baby daughter. Through trial-and-error, that was just what he got.

The book and the toy are all-around great, and I thoroughly recommend them. Try out the Bubble Thing, it's as good as what you fantasize it could be. The bubbles it makes are HUGE.

Big Kid Fun
My husband received this book several years ago as a 50th birthday present. It sat in it's wrapper for a couple of years-what does a grown man need with a Bubble Book? Well he has resurrected it and has had so much fun with it this summer. We took it to our family reunion, on vacation and to a chorus picnic, kids big and small are fascinated and want to try it. Give it a try--you will be hooked.

Young kids might need help
This is a wonderful book on drawing, and I would recommend it to anyone whose age ranges between 10 and 100.The author gives plenty of ideas for those who are shy at first, but they are written with a small types so if you don't need help you are not forced to have it , and the instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
However I would not give it to yopung children for two reasons. Reason number one is that children younger than ten express themselves through drawing. The way they draw a tree, for example, tells us a lot about their personality. No instruction should be given before age 8. Reason number two is the instructions are a bit difficult for kids up to third grade.
I suggest teacher should use this book as an art connection inside a Roald Dahl author study.

Great Gift
Bought for my 7 year old Grandaughter who's the only one in the family that is not artistically challanged. She has spent hours reading and using the ideas in the book. Improved her confidence 100%. Would recommend to all for child who really wants to draw but doesn't understand you don't have to end up with a picture like a photograph.

Encouraging!
This book is an encouraging work by quirky illustrator Quentin Blake. The reader is encouraged to try drawing, and to enjoy what comes out of the pencil/pen! Blake's writing is as humorous as his drawings, and not disappointingly, his drawings linger near the edges of each page beckoning you to draw companions for them.

I would recommend this book to anyone too embarrassed about her stick figures to ever draw one in public, but who secretly cherishes a desire to doodle with style.

Superb Gift for Child or Teacher!
Explorabook: A Kids' Science Museum may be the best value for a child's gift or addition to a teacher's classroom. This is not just a book. It is a science tool with more than 50 activities and items needed to do them-a magnet, mirror, diffraction grating, agar gel and more. The seven book sections are: Magnetism, Bending Light Waves, Bacterial Stories, Light Wave Craziness, Homemade Science, Bouncing Light Rays and Optical Illusions. Unusual experiments include an Anti-gravity Machine, Dinnertime Magic, Bacteria Races, and Heavy Scientific Breathing. Most of the activities can be done by children but some adult supervision is required. Scientific explanations are excellent as the book originated from the San Francisco Exploratorium. Loaded with illustrations, the Explorabook is highly recommended for class or home use. From The Science Spiders Newsletter, November 2002.

Every kid should have this book!
This is the way science should be taught--FUN! It's a great interactive book that explains everyday "stuff" & complex science in an easy to understand and entertaining manner.

A REALLY COOL BOOK!!!!!!!!
This is a great book! A huge, interesting, fun, science museum stuffed into a book! I love this book. This book is packed with experiments and activities. Who knew learning could be so much fun?(:

If you are a beginner (like I am) get this book!
I am extremely intimidated by painting, so I took baby steps and bought this book. It comes with some beautiful watercolors that are rich and color--and a brush as well.

They start you off with painting some small pictures, even blobs if you are comfortable with it, and you will be amazed to see how much your lil paintings look like paintings instead of a piece of crap (which is what i expected---can i say crap?) anyway, they give you pages where you can "play" and you don't start color mixing and other frightening things until later.

Later on, you do landscapes and play around with some light and shadow. Its like the fisher price version of learning to paint!! Sometimes, my pictures blended in with their little pictures along the way, which made me happy. They just turn something very scary, into something a lil more easy.

If you run out of paints or brushes, or you want some more paper, there's a phone number in the back you can call to order some more!! I love klutz products, cause I am one!! Highly recommended!!

Scared of watercolors? Paint this book!
This fun, whimsical book takes the mystery and frustration out of painting with watercolors. Learn watercolor basics by following the book's simple instructions and then practicing alongside on its watercolor-paper pages. Witty sidebar commentator Thatcher Hurd adds humor to an otherwise indimidating process. Discover what makes you the best painter you know--paint this book and unmask your watercolor painting personality

A Stellar Kid's Tape!
This is not your average kid's tape! Nancy Cassidy's wonderful alto voice invites even the musically challenged to sing along. As with all her tapes, there is a terrific mix of traditional and new music, use of many instruments, and varied musical styles. Even our one year-old dances when we put this on!

Some design flaws can't mar great instruction
The book will do what the liner notes suggest: teach a complete klutz how to juggle. By taking the book's instruction, someone who's never picked up a juggling ball in their lives can learn the basics quickly. The inclusion of bean bags adds significant value to the product. For a genuinely modest price, you can give someone the complete ability to start juggling immediately.

But it fails novice jugglers in at least two ways. Most importantly, it's not really made to be used while you're trying to juggle. It's too small to lay flat on a table. Other juggling books know that you need to read them WHILE you're juggling and so have either ring-bound them or made them magazine size. Also, I'm not crazy about the illustrations. Sometimes they're clear enough, but often, the black and white printing of line drawings doesn't really show you where your juggling objects should be in three dimensions.

Still, this fault is more than made up for by an engaging, clear writing style. The instructions are highly understandable, and the text is large enough to read from a distance. Thus, though I think the book could do with a few, essentially cosmetic changes, it's a great first step.

If you buy one juggling book - this is it!!!
This is a simple, funny, easy to read and understand book. It takes the COMPLETE novice and teaches how to juggle 3 and four objects, including clubs. This also discusses simple passing patterns. If you ever have wanted to juggle, THIS BOOK CAN TEACH YOU HOW. It's funny, and great. If you want to get started in juggling, buy this book!

Now I am a Complete Klutz!
I received this book with the 3 beanbag cubes from my children for Christmas several years ago. Much to my surprise (and to their delight), I found that I was able to juggle using all of the cubes after about an hour of driving everyone crazy with constant cries of "Look out" or "I meant to do that". I would recommend this book to anyone. When you are juggling, you have to use all of your concentration, which is a great way to relieve stress and boredom, after which you will be able to go back to whatever task you were doing previously, with a clearer head.

This is a fabulous book and cassette package. I am a teacher in an International Kindergarten in Hong Kong and this is one of my greatest resources! Songs include: You Gotta Sing, Wabash Cannonball, Day-O, Ting-A-Lay-O, Mister Sun, Father's Old Grey Whiskers, Baby Beluga, Willoughby Wallaby Woo, Kumbaya, Shake My Sillies Out, Brush Your Teeth, Down By the Bay, Jamaica Farewell, Apples and Bananas, Chicken Lips and Lizard Hips, Polly Wolly Doodle, This Old Man, The Fox, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Puff the Magic Dragon, Morningtown Ride and This Little Light of Mine.

The kids love it!

Great for Car Trips
This is a fun, up-beat, easy-to-sing-along-to tape with a sturdy spiral bound book that contains the music and words to the songs along with funny pictures. The tape has spiced up many long car trips for my 4 kids.

Lots of fun!!!
I had this book and tape growing up. We used to play it in the car and we all sang along! It was SO MUCH FUN!!! All those simple things that are fun and healthy! I'm grown now, but I still like to listen to it and sing along. It is a breath of fresh air in a busy life. Great for young and old!! It is also a great alternative to watching TV or consuming cartoon characters!
