Classic in Middle Eastern Cooking
"Helen Corey's cookbook Food from Biblical Lands and The Art of Syrian and Lebanese Video Cooking shows are classics. A learning experience as Helen's tiips and techniques keep you attentive through her preparation of every recipe in this 70 minute show. These authentic Syrian & Lebanese recipes are bursting with flavor as Helen makes them easy to prepare with her fail-proof mathods. She tells you what basic ingredients to buy and work with them for the most dazzling results. Considered one of the most popular teachers of Middle Eastern cuisine, Helen' s elegant plate presentations allows many cooks the pleasures of preparing vegetables, meats and desserts for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. I have tried other Middle Eastern cookbooks, but Helen Corey"s recipes are by far the best and have made me an expert in cooking these foods. MCPfood@aol.com, Professor of Nutrition, Sept. 9, 1999"

Replaces The Art of Syrian Cookery - the best in Syrian food
This book is available and can be ordered immediately. The last edition was printed in December, 1996. It won first place in the nation by the National Federation of Press Women out of 1700 books submitted. The author, Helen Corey, has updated and included in this book all the recipes of her best seller The Art of Syrian Cookery. It also includes additional recipes and photographs plus a descripton of the mores of the people of the Middle East. One of the reviewers, Michelle Plummer, Professor of Nutrition of Indianapolis, In. writes "Recipes are bursting with flavor as Helen makes them easy to prepare with her fail-proof methods, adapting them to the American kitchen. She tells you what basic ingredients to buy and work with them for the most dazzling results. Considered one of the most popular teachers of Middle Eastern cuisine, Helen prsents elegant plate presentations allowing many cooks the pleasure of preparing vegetables, meats and desserts for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike".

Perfectly authentic and well written
Each recipe is explained in detail and if an ingredient is uncommon she explains where to get it and what it is. She writes the recipes so that the end result turns out wonderfully. I grew up eating this food in Canton, OH and her recipes taste just the way the old Syrians would have prepared it. I was so happy to find a cookbook so true to the old world style. There are meat recipes as well as vegetable based cuisine, desserts, and even how to make the old Syrian cheese usually served with breakfast. It is a concise, great book and I wish more people knew how to prepare meals like this.

The Christian Girl's Guide to Being Your Best

The BEST book any girl can read!
I got this book for my birthday. After looking at it in a store, I decided it was perfect for me. After getting it, I have really been inspired. Written to preteen and teen girls, this book covers all the things girls need to know. Fun quizzes, real life stories, questions, crafts, and fictional stories all make this book great. There is so much more then what I have just mentioned, however. The greatest thing about it is that it inspired me to start writing books to preteen and teen girls. I am currently writing a fiction book. The author has inspired me so much. If you are a preteen or teen girl, or you know one, this is the one book you really need to get.

excellent book
This book is so cool. I love all the little drawings and illustrations. I like that you can write in the book and that there are puzzles and crafts and things to do. Some books we have to read for school are so boring. I wish they were more like this book.

I wish the book were longer. I hope there is a second book to this one and some more books like about reading your Bible, praying, friends, sharing your faith and other things.

Being Your Best
This a great new book an experienced christian author who has written several other books for children.
This book is great for pre-teen girls-my 11 year old niece loves it and she doesn't really like to read.
The book covers many aspects of being a teen or preteen girl including What is Sucess, Using Your Talents, What is Peer Pressure and standing up to bad peer pressure, walking with God and sharing your faith, also integrity, honesty and most important- getting along with your family.

This book has discussion questions, quizzes, puzzles and projects to do.
It would make a great book for a Junior or Junior High girls Sunday School class or other group to use for a study book.

An incisive discourse
"Approaching Death" belongs with "How we Die" and Bill Moyer's Milestone "On Our Own Terms" as the seminal studies on Dying. At times empathetic, scholarly, and broadminded. This treatise should be read by all of us.

Littlewood > Hardy
Yes, yes, Littlewood was better than Hardy. Just take a look at Hardy's collected papers and it's full of deep theorems indeed but they all were "suggested" by Littlewood. The reason why Littlewood is not as known as Hardy is because he's not remembered for saying so many STUPID things (let's admit it, Hardy was always talking nonsense).

I have learned so much from this book. It is unbelievable.
The title tells it all. Paul Cassel really can teach you Access 97 in just 14 days.

Cassel's style is challenging and yet approachable. But, then, so is his subject matter.

In the past, I have always been able to "play around" with programs and learn how to use them. Not with Access. When I tried to experiment on my own, I just seemed to fumble about.

Then I purchased the Cassel book, and everything has changed. I already have a database of research going, with lots of tables, forms, queries, and reports, etc. All for a mere hour or so a day for 14 days. Just as the title promises.

Super book. Well written. Very much worth the price. What more can I say?

Thanks,

Martha Casey mcasey123@msn.com

Bottom Line : It does what it says it will
I didn't know about Access. NOTHING. I read this book and now I do. After reading this book I wasn't a master, but I was fluent in Access terms and had a good understanding. Easy to follow, well designed. I recommend this book to Access newcomers/beginners but will be to easy for Intermediate to Advanced users. The book even gives summaries of advanced topics so the beginner after completing the book will know where the future of his learning will take him. Great Book.

Well worth the time and money.....
As an Engineering Leader, my time is of a high commodity. I found this book to be all inclusive in helping me achieve the databases I desired in managing personnel, projects and tasks. the book is an excellent source for a novice access user in bringing them up to speed in understanding basic VBA programming and tips in creating databases. The beginning chapters are a little slow for intermediate users, but they are helpful as a "refresher" course. The remaining chapters are excellent and well laid out in understanding the material. I found that by reading the book and creating a specific database that would address my needs simultaneously was the favorable approach. Overall the book is highly recommended for novice to intermediate users. I also recommend .."Access 97 VBA programming" for any novice looking to further there knowledge. Both these books have allowed me to create databases that once were well out of my capabilities.

The Robe by Lloyd C. Douglas
Lloyd C. Douglas' The Robe has become my favorite book. I came upon the book quite by accident a few years ago, and I have since read it 3 times. This book is not just a great religious novel, it is a great novel. Even if the reader is not a Christian, he/she will find it hard to put down. The reader is drawn in from the very first paragraph. Douglas certainly has a knowledge of ancient Rome and Judea, and he uses historical references to great effect. The characters are some of the most richly crafted I have ever read. The tale works on many levels: a love story; a tale of suspense; a tale of political intrigue; and, ultimately, a triumph of the human spirit and the power of personal redemption. For those without a clear view of Chritianity (which is easy to understand these days), this book is for you. While a novel, this book is probably a fairly accurate portrayal of the early Jesus movement in Judea and in Rome. This book should be on every bookshelf.

How did Lloyd C. Douglas do it!
Not your grade school level reading, this book is written, like Michael Angelo paints! Douglas has truly done his homework on this one, taking the reader back in time, as if he/she were living in the cypress studded hills of Rome. The true focus here is on the ever-developing character of Marcellus, the son of a wealthy senator (and the books main character). As he works his way through the political battlefield of the times, one can't help but wonder how the author mastered the detailed elements contained within this brilliant novel. In the end, the reader comes away both moved and humbled by the trials, tribulations, and subsequently noble characteristics, of a man so affected by the spiritual aura, of the Robe.

It would be nearly impossible for Hollywood to live up to this book, but if they ever make the movie right, it will surley be a blockbuster to inspire the masses!

Beautiful History
I happen to love Jesus and I am enthralled with history and reading classics. All three of these fit "The Robe". This book was a bit long to get through, but the story was beautifully written and adds a dimension to the life of Christ that we do not read about in the Bible. I found it to be a wonderful companion to the Truth and highly recommend it to anyone looking for more depth and rounding out of their understanding of Who Jesus is. I also really liked the fact that what the protagonist goes through in the story, around 2000 years ago, can be applied to how we respond to Christ yet today. Searching? Take a bit more time than you usually spend on a book and find "The Robe".

Good reference for the boards
This is a good reference for the NCETMB (National Certification Test). It gives summaries of a lot of information for things needed to know for the NCETMB. I was also recommended another few study guides for the NCETMB by other massage therapists who passed the NCETMB the first time. I'm glad I took their advice because these study guides were just awesome for the type of questions to prepare for on the NCETMB. The study guides I'm referring to is in three volumes that are the following and are available on amazon:
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers (Volume 1 (isbn: 0971999643), Volume 2 (isbn: 0971999651), and Volume 3 (isbn: 097199966X) by Patrick Leonardi
These last three study guides helped me with passing the national certification test easily the first time. I highly recommend all four books. It's well worth the money.

Very good reference for NCBTMB
My study group and I used this book to review some facts for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. However, this book is written in a simple style that makes reading an easier task. There were some good information in the book for the test. ...

Great Preperation
This book, which seems small in comparison to some more comprehensive massage texts, is in actuality much more thourough and concise. After each chapter, there is an exam/review section structured after the actual national test. This is great practice for anyone about to take the NCBTMB. I highly recommend it.

Wish I could find it
I read this book when I was probably 8 years old and it made a really big impression on me. I had always thought of horses as pretty little ponies with bows and pink tails, after reading this short little book it opened my eyes to a whole new world. The world of the real horse, the world of survival and strength, the world of trust and courage. This little book was to a little girl the most wonderful story in the world. Whinny was my hero. It was the Black Beauty of the early years. Somewhere along the way I lost the book, and I only wish I could find one somewhere. I recommend this book with all my heart to all of you who have sons or daugters in love with the most wonderful animal ever.

Internationaly Appealing
This is my favorite Laundrie Book. I saw it on a trip over in Germany as well. Over there it is called Vestin Whinny. A truly remarkable story!

Heart felt
From the moment the fole is born untill its final growth the reader fells through the staling. The book is filled with power, hope, curage, and the temptation to avoid doing the right thing. It is an excilent lesson for life and through the eyes of Whinny the reader can see all that, in this hectic world, we have been missing.
