Terry Gross is the best!
I came across National Public Radio many years ago just tooling around the FM dial. I found "Fresh Air with Terry Gross" and was hooked by the interview at the time, with Clint Eastwood. The questions were ones I would want to ask him. I was intrigued by this voice I have never heard before on radio, sophisticated, smart, smooth, curious, and down to earth. No commercial radio hype, none of the exaggeration for a big news story, not a celebrity exclusive. I've since heard this audio compilation of the the comedians interviewed on "Fresh Air laughs" and loved it. This isn't just a side splitting laugh a minute tape, it also brings you a realization that these are real people. The Bill Murray interview is so unlike his performer identity we all know that you have to listen to it carefully, because Terry brings out his humanity with her interview style. We get to listen to conversation that has substance and not just style. This is a tape you can sink your teeth into, it's that thick.

Drew Carey
The book i read was a biography on Drew Carey. It was written by Ann Graham Gaines. This book was a very interesting book. I thought it was an outstanding book because it had alot of detail about his life. It tells the reader what actually happens in his life. It goes from him moving into college to him drinking alot of beer a throwing up. That is how much detail it really has. If anyone is interested in Drew Carey i suggest that you read this book. I recommend this book to everyone that likes Drew Carey or just somebody that likes to read. It's a great book

Save your money - the TV show's free and better
The jokes are old, the text is depressing, and Mr Carey was painfully right when he said a ghost writer could have done a better job. Drew Carey spends a large part of the book's 237 pages ranting, raving, and occasionally whining about life. I'm not some blue-blooded snob, but I found his constant profanity to be gratuitous, unimaginative, and tiresome. It's like he's trying to make up for all the language the network censor never lets him put in the show. I LOVE the TV show, but I'm ashamed at myself for having read the entire book (I kept thinking to myself "It HAS to get better!" - it didn't). If you're going to read this book anyway, at least borrow it from the library so you don't feel stupid for wasting your time AND blowing $22.95

A Very Very Funny Book!
When I first began to read this book I was very shocked at the jokes and the language that he used (picturing the Drew seen on televison) but then I realized that this is the way that most guys think. I never put this book down. He put an honest a hardworking effort into this book and it came out great. I just couldn't stop laughing. I had no clue that it would be like this and I loved it because it surprised me. I especially like the jokes that he put in front of every chapter and his stories that wrap up the book. In conclusion I would like to say that you must look at the title. If you don't like books containing foul language and dirty jokes well you might as well push the back button on your browser but ..... if you love dirty jokes and you wanna have a good laugh I recommend that you read Dirty Jokes and Beer : Stories of the Unrefined by Drew Carey.

Carey Rocks
Dirty Jokes & Beer is the first book by Drew Carey, star of his own self-titled TV show. What makes the show so funny is Mr. Carey's ability to poke fun at himself and the humorous look at every day life. This book is written in the same style except it doesn't suffer from the restrictions of network TV. If you are scared off by vulgar language and sexual situations, then this book isn't for you. Mr. Carey goes into tales of his life with a self-deprecating style and keen eye. His account of his trip to Mardi Gras is hysterical and his chapter on the ability, due to his TV success, to buy a house and accoutrements is priceless. The three short stories that make up the end of the book are extremely funny as well. One minor setback is the chapter of big dick jokes. A few of them are very funny, but he drags it out for too long and they get a little tedious. Overall, this is an extremely enjoyable read and just like his show, laugh out loud funny.

Not What I Thought
When ordering this book, make sure to look at the dimensions. The book is small. Very small. I did not look carefully enough to see in advance. Just make sure you know what you are ordering. Other than the size, it is ok. It will be small complement to the game room.

Very Informative
The book gives a great in depth look at all the people involved in the show. The behind the scenes humour and the talented cast really comes through. One of the funniest behind the scenes books I've read - and I take pride in reading them all!

Dirty jokes and beer
I FOUND THIS BOOK VERY WHITTY.HE HAS SEEN SO MUCH PAIN IN HIS LIFETIME. I COULD INDENIFY WITH HIM IN SO MANY AREAS. I WOULD LIKE TO SIT AND TALK TO HIM.. WHAT A GREAT HONOR.......

"National Enquirer" quality!
If a writer (and in this context, I use that term loosely)determines that the popularity of a celebrity is high, apparently that "writer" can have published the celebrity's "life story" with no consequences. Most people's lives are interesting enough without creating untrue or unsubstantiated stories to promote a cheap paperback. If this writer wants to write fiction, try romance novels. They're big business too, an no real people get hurt. Did Mr. Carey file his libel suit yet?

unauthorized for a reason, opportuistic author
This is what happens when someone tries to write a biography who does not know the person she's writing about, so she asks any one who will speak to her excluding those closest to Drew, picks what she wants, and calls it a book.

pretty Intresting life for a comedian
the drew Carey story is pretty good but the author writes like a untuned piano or a phycologist. The book is pretty good itself and some jokes are funny but i can see why this book really did not sell. She writes reallr boaring but the facts are interesting and his life is sad. So I guesse tgis book earned it's solid 4 stars.
