I like this book (Reader age 9)
I like this book because there are lots of funny parts in it. The principal gets new clothes that are invisible. He doesn't know they're invisible! At the end, the kids all throw him some of their clothes, but not all of them, like hats and jackets.

anonymous 9 yr old
The Princepals New Clothes is really a laugh HA HA HE HE! She changes the characters to different routes. She makes the characters funny and look funny.

A spectacular book!
Our second and third grade class just finished reading this book! Our favorite part was when The principal thought he was stupid. The ending was hilarious! This is a book you could enjoy reading over and over!

Rosie: A Visiting Dog's Story
A wonderful non-fiction read aloud about elementary children's favorite topic - dogs. Interesting information and a lively presentation. Excellent animal book with color illustrations. Recommended for students from K through the 4th grade, as well as the teachers and parents.

Canine good citizen visits people needing love
This book is a really beautiful story of the training, work and rewards of a visiting dog. Rosie is a black and white fluffy dog who is trained to be a friend-in-need to people who are ill or institutionalized. Wonderful text and art-quality photographs. Appeals to kids (even 12 year old boys!) and adults. Shows kindness and love in a true story. Highly recommended!

Rugrats
Rugrats is a great children's book, because children can learn about friendship, and the difference between good friends and bad friends.
Children would enjoy this book, because it deals with all the obstacles that kids need to accomplish!
This story is about four children that are best friends and they are only about four years old, and one of the children has an older cousin named "Angelica", which picks on her little cousin, and his three friends all the time. The four children's names are Tommy, Chucky, Phil, and Lil, which Phil and Lil are twins , and Tommy's parents are the main parents in this story.

Ten in the Bed
The short story "Ten in the Bed", I think is one of the best children's books that I have ever read! This story is written by Penny Dale, and its copy write is 1988!
Children can learn about picking on their older brothers, or sisters by kicking them out of their bed, so they can have the whole bed to their selves!
This book is basically about ten children is a bed, and smallest child keeps telling the rest of the children to move ever, and eventually the small child is the only child left in the bed.

The Review of Pooh
Walt Disney's Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too is an excellent book for children to read. It is a classic book that has a great story about the characters. Winnie is a lovable bear and a big fan of all children. And then you have Tigger who bounces all over the place and is full of energy. Children go nuts for this. Even when I was a child I loved too read Winnie the Pooh books cause they are all so good. I especially like this one in particular though. It has marvelous illustrations and tells a great story, very understandable for children. I will end by saying that this book should be one that is owned by all children,no child should have to go with out Winnie the Pooh.

A deck of cards can be a family fun activity
Crazy Eights And Other Card Games is a straightforward, "kid friendly" guide to simple playing card games that children of all ages can easily learn. Black-and-white illustrations and step-by-step instructions about the rules of games like Casino, Concentration, War, Twenty-One, Beginning Rummy, and a great many more guarantee that a deck of cards can be a family fun activity, as well as an ideal solution to children entertaining themselves when they must be indoors during inclement weather.

A one-stop repository for favorite children's card games!
We discovered this book just after a week's vacation. We had been playing cards with children's card packs - old maid, rummy and go fish. I was anxious to find a book on all of the old children's games that I remember playing, Crazy Eights being a favorite. Not only does this book have lots of games, including many I had never heard of, but the illustrations and rules for playing are explained extremely well.

Highly recommended for some family time fun.

One of our favorites!
I love this book almost as much as my 2 year-old does. It has GREAT illustrations and fun rhymes, making it a pleasure to read. Even after months of reading this book nearly every day, I still like it. Aside from the obvious counting lessons, there are other things to be learned from this book for kids; my son is very interested in what all the animals are eating. It also gently teaches flexibility and kindness. Along with Goodnight Moon, I often give this book as a gift. Give yourself one and get this book!

My Kids Want Me To Read This Again And Again!
A magical tale with children. Animals come alive in this bright and colorful book written in rhyme. Captivating to children, this book is appealing when introducing the concept of numbers and to those who already count. The finale warms the heart of every reader and listener. A sure winner in our family!

Joanna Cole succeeds again
As someone with training in folklore, I always trust a book with Joanna Cole's name on it. This book does a very good job of showing (rather than desscribing) the actions and provides the words and music. As it is folklore, you will find some of the fingerplays or action rhymes from your childhood as well as new additions to your repetoire. As I have come to expect, I believe that the publishing company has underestimated the age range for which the book is appropriate ... listen to your young friends after their first camping trip with the cub scouts, bluebirds etc. and you will find that even at that ages children are teaching children some of these plays.

Fantastic book to keep kids entertained
I love this book! I use it all the time when I want to keep kids up to 6 years old busy. I have kids who visit who beg me to bring out the book to do the finger plays. I recommend it highly.

Perfect Book
This is the sweetest book I've seen in years. It is, on the surface, a story about a little puppy who realizes he can make mistakes and still be a "perfect puppy". Underneath, it's a message to children about being loved unconditionally.

Perfect Puppy Gets First Prize
My son and I love this one. As a family without a dog this book well describes a sweet story about the unconditioned friendship a young girl and her puppy come to discover. I would highly recommend it for children ages 3-7. My four year old asks that I read this to him everyday since we got it. He walks around with it, turns the pages and has memorized much of the story. Having other books by this author, Stephanie Calmenson, we say it is winner! Makes a great present for a child, with or without that perfect puppy!

Useful resource for entertaining young kids
So you are planning a party for your youngster and are trying to remember some fun games from way back, but your mind goes suddenly blank? Here is a collection of twenty fun and simple games for young children, that also very easily lend themselves to variations as you go along. The games described don't involve complicated rules or require elaborate preparations and are clearly and attractively presented. For each game, there is also some advice on safety issues and some ideas for variations. A very useful resource. Worked very well for my four year old's recent birthday party.

Great Book!
I recently gave a party for my 7 year old using games from this book. They had a blast! The games are VERY simple and definitely only for the age group that was recommended by Amazon. Most are the classics that you probably know already but when you sit down to think of things to do, you forget. Its a handy reference guide and not expensive. If you are looking for more complex or unique games, this isn't for you. But for the purpose it was intended, they nailed it. Oh, and it comes with the game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey...I bet that is at least $2-3 by itself in the store!

My 2 year-old has loved this book since age 1 -- it's great!
It has a lot of activities, from nursery rhymes and songs to longer stories, and activities like finding objects in pictures and creating stories. I think this may be my daughter's favorite. We take it on all vacations because it has everything. We love it and I've given it as a gift many times.

It's wonderful book and takes me back to my childhood.
My daughter has checked this book out of the library at least 5 times. Everytime we go this is the book she wants to get. I am now wanting to purchase it for her.

Good collection for early readers
I bought this book for my son who is in first grade. He has grown with this book - from the stories where some of the words are replaced by pictures, to the riddles and jokes, to complete stories of Frog and Toad and Morris the Moose. Most importantly - he picks up this book now and reads for pleasure.

My one complaint is that the book seems to be organized backwards - the easier reading is in the back, the harder is in the front.

The same applies to the Ready-Set-Read and Laugh anthology. Good collections and my kids enjoy reading them.

I was impressed
I just received this book yesterday and I was so happy by the response of my 4 1/2 year old daughter. She loved listening to the variety of stories, laughing aloud to some, and she loved the tongue twisters. She especially like the short stories where there are words and pictures in the sentences. We read these together and she felt like she was really reading. This gave her such a confidence boost. She insisted on taking the book to daycare today to read aloud to her class.

Another thing I like is that there are so many stories. This will be a great book to take on vacation. You could read a different story everyday and just pack one book.

This book is wonderful for a variety of reasons. I know it will be helpful for a beginning reader.

Recomended
We have really enjoyed this colletion of easy reading stories+
