informative yet redundant
Last year at x-mas my wife and decided that since we just had a baby and funds were low, that we would buy each other one gift that we picked out around $20.00.
I picked a beard trimmer and my wife picked out the Juice Ladys book.So I thought I would be nice and buy her two Juice Ladys books.
Well the books came and I looked through them, and found to my surprise that the same recipes were printed throughout both books.
A lot of the recipes can be used for the same things. So instead of printing the recipe then putting what it can be used for the recipes are reprinted over and over.
So in retrospect I suggest buying one book instead of two or three with different titles, because they have the same recipes.
I hope this has been of some help for those looking to buy this or other Juice Lady books.

An Excellent Beginners Guide
This book is an excellent start for those who are looking to improve their health by juicing. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to find information about the basics about juicing. I find myself using this book as a reference guide at all times.

MMMM! Health, wellness, energy and great taste!
What more could we want? This perky lady has stuffed another of her popular books with all the great nutritional ideas, easy-to-make recipes and interesting uses for juice anyone could want! This is the ultimate reference book - I prefer it to all her other books, although I have them all. She's the spokeslady on QVC - you know, the chirpy one who seems so smart. Well, read the book and you know she's not only smart, but she knows how to make healthy stuff taste GREAT! Good Work, Ms. Calbom! Thanks SO much for your work!

This Book is a must read!!
There are some who think that heredity is the #1 reason for cancer, but this book clearly explains that diet is the #1 reason because how can DNA be strong without good nutrition? How can new cells be buildt without the life giving force of vitamins and trace minerals? What made cells weak and toxic in the first place?, we hand down our diet from generation to generation!! What is heredity with cellular integrity? I cannot see how this book dosen't become a million dollar seller! I recommend this book highly.....Juice Power!!

Juicing for Life-A Review by Joseph S. Maresca CPA,CISA
This work is a comprehensive guide on the nutritional dimensions
of various food groups; such as alkaline and acidic. The author
provides very detailed recommendations relative to the
anti-inflammatory vitamins and nutrients which are necessary
to prevent and manage rheumatological diseases and processes.
The author explains how to make juice preparations with widely-
known anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory components.
Such preparations include Vit. C, Vit E, Cu., Bromelain
and Superoxide dismutase to mention just a few.Back pain
and tenderness may be managed with reduction of animal fats
in the diet, the addition of fish and particularly Omega-3
fatty oils, avoidance of coffee and cleansing diets.
There is an interesting protocol for osteoporosis which
consists of kale, parsley, apples and carrots in a juicing
cocktail. In addition, the author identifies Vit. C, E,
Selenium, Ca., Potassium and chromium as nutrients which might
help to implement a cancer protocol.Lastly, the author very
studiously reviews sample diets and nutrients for a plurality
of chronic disease processes that may or may not respond well
to conventional therapies. This book is a worthy investment
for any person willing to make the commitment of time and
sacrifice to implement the protocols in the interest of
maintaining good general health far into the future.

Outstanding
This book is informative and very useful. Its an obvious fact that fresh fruits and vegetables play a huge factor in our wellbeing and general health, they keep all kinds of ailments and diseases at bay. Cancer has everything to do with diet - it has been widely proven that people with the disease that had a rich diet of fruit and vegetables, actually went into recession. Heredity only plays a small part - there is no guarantee that you get the disease. This book is not meant to cure anything - simply supplements your diet with vital nutrients needed to keep healthy and build a strong immune system. I love it and highly recommend it to anyone.

Everyday Ingredients for Healthy Cooking
Good cookbook for someone looking to change the way they eat. The ingredients used are what many people would already find in their cupboards. I bought it for the George Foreman Grill recipes and was disappointed -- the only two recipes in the book specifically for the grill were already in the cookbood that came with the grill! Many of the recipes could be adapted for the grill, however, I was not looking to do that much work. Even though it didn't meet my need for purchasing it, this book was a good read and I'm looking forward to trying more of the recipes.

it's about time
After being inundated by low-fat, no fat, no salt, no taste, vegetarian, whole foods, sugar busting and optimal health, it was finally nice to read a sane cookbook with easy to make, tasty, interesting, simple healthy foods . Even my 18 month old likes just about everything in here and I have made almost everything. Eagerly waiting another cookbook by same author.

Good, but nothing new
I give this book 4 stars because the information presented is excellent and well organized. However, much of the information in this book appeared previously in Calbom's book "Juicing For Life". If you own Juicing For Life, then this book is of somewhat reduced value to you; however, its prevailing method of organization makes it a helpful companion.

Included in this book are the many good recipes expected in such a volume, plus a series of nutritional essays about the role of juicing in a healthy lifestyle. Cherie Calbom also provides descriptions and guidelines for several different types of diets, from weightloss to gallbladder cleansing.

If this is your first book on juicing, this book is excellent. If this is your fifth, its a handy one to have. If this book is your tenth on the subject, then you likely have much of this information already.

All things considered, this is a quality book at a great price, and a welcomed addition to any juicing library.

Psuedoscience instead of recipes
When I sent away for this book, I thought I was going to get simple recipes as well as hints for best using the blender. Instead there were countless references to the healing power of vitamins, herbs, natural foods etc. None of which have any basis in fact. Unless you are into that sort of astrology, I don't recommend this book at all.

Not Impressed
I was so excited when my Smoothie book came in the mail. To my surprize it wasnt what I expected. Some of the ingredients are exotic. Some of the recipes the average person will NOT make. My suggestion is to go to dannon.com or kraft.com and get their recipes they are practical and best of all FREE!

really great!
I actually bought this for my mom about a year ago and she's still whirling up those smoothies. She loves the recipes and has been inspired to try out other concoctions as well. I've tried a few of the drinks and all have been delicious. I really like how they have the different sections like immune booster and the like because it shows you not only a good recipe in that sort of category but also helps you to learn about what foods are particularly helpful in certain ways. Four thumbs up from me and my mom.

Love the grill! The book is not bad either.
I was surprised by comments that this book isn't relevant to the George Foreman grill and that it doesn't tell you how long to cook on it. I don't think this is true at all. Equipment aside, grilling mostly involves a good rub or marinade for the meat and grilling it for the right length of time. I have this book and every recipe clearly tells you how to prepare the rub/marinade and how long the preparation and grilling times are! In fact, the preparation and cooking times are printed in orange ink and are hard to miss since the ingredients and recipe steps are in black ink. It should be noted however that these preparation and cooking times are printed at the *end* of each recipe, not the beginning.

There are two cooking times listed for almost every recipe - one for cooking on a charcoal grill, AND one for cooking on an electric grilling machine (obviously, the G.F. grill.) These grilling times are repeated within the recipe steps and there are tips on how to watch/test for doneness. Only four recipes aren't suitable for the electric grill (Texas Beef Ribs, BBQ Drumsticks, Roasted Garlic and Roasted Red Peppers). So don't think this book doesn't have instructions for the G.F. grill, it does.

This book has about 35 pages of general grilling and healthy eating information and about 130 pages of recipes. There are recipes for burgers and sandwiches, kabobs, steaks, spareribs, pork and lamb chops, chicken breasts, seafood and vegetables. I haven't tried all the recipes but my husband and I enjoyed the ones I've made so far. The recipes are relatively easy to prepare even if you're not a gourmet chef. [ I'm not! ;) ] As with any recipe, you just need to have the right ingredients on hand, most of which you probably already have if you like to cook (herbs and spices, vinegars, honey, mustard, lemon juice, garlic, wine, soy sauce...) There are a few fancier recipes that require a bit more time and effort, but the majority of the recipes are simple and can be done in 15-30 minutes (not counting marinade time.)

PS: The grill was made by Salton in 1994 and George Foreman started endorsing it in 1995. This book came out later in 1996, and I do think it was written with the grill in mind. (In fact, my copy of the book came free with my jumbo grill!) I think they just made the book more general so that people without the G.F. grill can use it too. I'm happy with this book but if you're unsure, check it out first at the library!

surprizingly excellent!
I bought this after I bought the grill. Having tried the recipes that came with the george foreman grill and finding them excellent, I decided to invest in a whole george forman cookbook.

The marinades are excellent! Many have few ingredients and maximum taste. While they are helpful if you have the grill they are excellent even if you don't. Marinades are a wonderful way to grill, in general. Some of them lend themselves even to panfrying, depending on the cut of meat or poulty. While you cant use bone-in meats in the GF grill, you can use these recipes with bone-in cuts and use an alternate cooking method (grilling, broiling or baking for chicken).

This was a big surprize! At first I thought it was going to gimick-y and just a cookbook capitalizing on the GF name. But it is a *study* cookbook in its own right. excellent.

It was excellent.
George Foreman's book was a real delight to read and to cook from. The recipes were easy to make and did not take a lot of time. You could also find most of the ingredients easily. Of course having the George Foreman Grill helps tremendously.

I have found this book very informative. A good feature were the juice recipes. However, it was very poorly translated. I could not recommend it to anyone who does not have any knowledge of the English language.
