My 5 year old daughter brought this book home from the library on Wednesday. Now, four days later she has memorized the whole book. The only way I can get her to agree to return the book to the library is that I am to purchase her own personal copy. My daughter loves being read to and is learning to read herself. She says that one day she wants to be an author and illustrator.

Dog is busy playing with the toys from his toy box--swinging with monkey, swimming with fish, jumping with rabbit, etc. The graphics in the book are fabulous. The simple themes are captured in big, bold brushstrokes in eye-catching colors. My almost two-year-old daughter loves this book and we read it several times a day. She kisses dog on nearly every page. This is also a great book for Dads to read with their little one since dog's favorite thing to do is "play with Daddy". I'm online looking for other books by this same author/illustrator. Other lesser known picture books I recommend for toddlers are Debi Gliori's "Are you there baby bear" and Caroline Uff's "Lulu's Busy Day". Happy reading!

I started reading this to my infant at 3 months. The colors are amazing & kept her stimulated - along with the sing song story. Although it teaches counting to 2-4 year olds, but little one loved "counting" along with me. Hooray for Jane Cabrera!

This book is used in my sons music class. It is fun to sing and teaches counting along the way. All of the children sit to hear this book read and love identifying the animals and counting along. I'm buying it today for home too.

This is one of the few books that both my two year old and I really enjoy together. The illustrations are so colorful and lively and the text is a fun, rhythmic song that is great for kids to count and act out. This is one of the few books that I will use to give as a gift.

My 3 year old daughter (who is a big panda fan!)loves this book. The illustrations are beautiful - so bright and vivid. It teaches about opposites, how Panda Big and Panda Small are different. But in the end they have something important in common. I definitely recommend this one!!

I really like the way this book reads. My daughter loves it. We read this book often and we talk about the other animals in the book, what the differences are in the Big Panda and the Little Panda and how we are similar to them. The illustrations are also wonderful! I think any active mind would get a kick out of this book.

This book has very colorful illustrations and delightfully teaches toddlers about opposites. My daughter loves to hear it over and over.

This has been my son's favourite book since he was one. He can now make all the animal noises, loves roaring and loves the ending. It is a great book to read together as interaction comes naturally and the story is fun and not soppy. The illustrations are great while still being easily recogniseable. The book is also printed on nice thick glossy paper which is easy for young ones to handle.

Another outstanding, must have book by Jane Cabrera! My 2 year old and 17 month old sons just can't get enough of Rory the Lion. A fun, fast and easy read with wonderful illustrations keeps them coming back for more! My sons LOVED to roar along with Rory, as well as make all the other sounds of animals Rory encountered. This was initially recommmended to us by our library...and after checking it out time and time again I decided to purchase it and make it a permenant book in their library. It was one of the best book buys I ever made!

"What is Cat's favorite color?" This simple question forms the premise of this simple yet cheerful color identification book. Each two-page spread features another color as the background, and uses examples from the cat's life to illustrate it.

Cabrera's style uses bold brush strokes and thickly applied acrylic paint. Her animals are painted as if done by a child, and there are clever little compositional features that are delightful to discover. On one page, a cow in the background mimics the pose of the cat. In another, fluffy white clouds take the shape of familiar objects to a cat--a fish and a mouse.

One unfortunate byproduct of the graphic style however, is that the colors aren't really mixed too well. The purple comes off a little lilac and the red and orange are indistinguishable from each other. But if you use this book as a fun story to share, and not primarily as a color teaching tool, you should be safe.

Little cat asks you to guess his favorite color. As you turn the page, you will be surprised by the color choices and illustrations on each page. The backround colors are bright and vibrant, and each color is as rich as the last. Also, every color has a new animal associated with it. I use this book with my 7 month old daughter and my 10 year old ESL students.

Me and my small children love immersing ourselves in the wonderful coloured worlds of Jane Cabrera. We have them all and can hardly wait for the next one.

I would recommend them for all parents of young children.
