a simple, true-to-life vignet
I disagree with the Horn Book review. My daughter enjoyed the story and we've gotten it from the library a couple of times. I liked the different style in which the writer simply has quotes from the two characters (Anna and Dad); no "he said, she said". It sounded much like some conversations I've carried on with my girls. The art was quite nice also. We're looking for a copy to have for another daughter who's name is also Anna.
Delightful pictures!
I read this book to my little sister (her name is Anna) and it is one of her favorites. The simplicity of the text makes it really easy to understand and the pictures are amazing and very true to life. This book is about a very common event; feeding the birds, but it also shows a father's love for his daughter. I want to point out that this is definately a book for a young audience, and the pictures are, in Anna's opinion, the best part. There is so much to look at on every page.

Affectionate Story
This story starts out with Mommy, Daddy and Rebecca. Mommy tells Rebecca that she needs to take a nap. Obviously Rebecca does not like the idea. Finally Rebecca gives in and once she is tucked into bed Mommy decides to take a nap. Soon after Rebecca's mother falls asleep the little girl wakes up and goes outside with her father so they do not wake up Mommy. Daddy and Rebecca go and explore the animals in the back yard and do some chores. Soon Rebecca is fast asleep. Daddy tucks his little girl back into bed. Then Mommy woke to find Daddy fast asleep. Rebecca then wakes again and goes with Mommy outside so they do not wake her father up.
I got this book from my parents. They thought that it was cute because the little girl is named Rebecca too. When I read this story I thought that it was a cute representation of what a little girl does with her family on a lazy Saturday. The pictures depict the scenes very well. The words are also easy to follow and give you a good view of the young girl and her own silly language between her and her parents.
