I love the book
This book was great i read every one of his adventures. I got realy mad when i heard some librarys were banning the book. :(

Great Illustrated Classics by Baronet Books
I bought the original work of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn for my 8-year-old and while he reads on a very elevated level, the original had language too difficult to decipher. However, he was interested in the story so I bought this abridged version and he loved it.

Great rendition.
Jack Lemon takes a rare and wonderful turn at narrating in Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This adaptation of the Twain classic seems crisper, capturing the feel of youth. It has never sounded better. The spry Mr. Lemon breathes life into this worn classic. This is a keeper for all ages.

JIMMY IS THE BEST!
This is another awesome album by the king Parrothead himself.

Growing Older and Laying Down
Buffet has grown longer toes, but has not "layed down" over the years. This album took me to the Keys of Florida, back home to Alabama and back down to the islands a time or two. If anyone has ever been to the lower latitudes of the United States (Florida in particular), this compilation will take you up AND down A1A as many times as you can handle it!

Thanks for this one, JB!

TROUBLE DOLLS PROVES NOT TROUBLING TO READ!
TROUBLE DOLLS by JIMMY BUFFETT and SAVANNAH JANE BUFFETT is a really great story! It has many elements within it that are similar to the life of JIMMY BUFFETT, which PARROTHEADS will be sure to notice. The imagination runs wild in reading TROUBLE DOLLS! Mental pictures of the Florida Keys and longing for them are results of reading this book. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous, too! I highly recommend this book to people of all ages - PARROTHEADS . . . lovers of the tropics . . . children . . . adults that need a getaway for just a few minutes. The book is great! Find out for yourself!

HE writes like he sings
I read this book and JOLLY MON to my fourth and fifth grade students. They LOVED it and wanted to know if he had written any more books. The story is sweet and my students were impressed with Lizzie's courage and sailing ability.

great children's book
This is a great book for kids. Lizzie being able to handle her own problems makes it very empowering to children...especially girls!

Lovely Kids Book
We purchased this book about 3 years ago when my daughter was very young, we read it to her and she loved the brightly colored pictures and images of fish, sea, funny men with coconut hats etc. Now that she is older and can understand the story we still read it and it is one of her favorites. It isn't just a fluffy children's book, it contains, fantasy, danger, death (although not in detail), travel, pirates, mystery and to top it all off it is beautifully illustrated. The characters are all uniquely drawn, the situations really stir the imagination. The Buffets can certainly spin a good one!

Hats off to Buffett!
I ordered this for my niece, I read it and it is wonderful! I will be puchasing another copy for my child as well. This book takes your imagination far away to Bananaland where things are peaceful and happy! If only the real world could be so wonderful. This tale will delight readers of all ages! Buffett has done a great job with his awesome imagination! All of his books are a breath of fresh air for the weary mind. He should write more than he does! And Lambert Davis did a great job with his colorful images, you felt like Bananaland was real!

A Pirate Looks at 4
Okay, so I read this book as an adult, but it didn't take long for some of the magic of childhood to come creeping back to me through the pages. This is a children's story the way they used to make 'em, full of whimsy, magic, and good deeds. Follow the Jolly Mon on a delightful yet purposeful journey, spreading happiness as he goes. The illustrations are beautiful and capture the vivid colors of the Carribbean and a child's imagination. This is a great book for kids of all ages. Just be prepared to smile, because once the Jolly Mon has passed your way, it'll be impossible not to.

Mr. Quigley is a "Parrothead"head
Simply put, this book is the quintessential document of Jimmy Buffett's fans. Don't buy this book looking for Jimmy's biography, and don't even think about finding the lyrics to "Margaritaville" (although there are some hysterical alternate lyrics to a few songs within). No, this book is about the "phans" that "phlock" to the parking lots hours before Jimmy and the Coral Reefer band takes the stage, and it is VERY thorough. Chances are, if you came to see Jimmy on his "Beach House On The Moon" tour, your picture is in this book! Every detail about Parrotheadism is there, along with some of the craziest photos you've ever seen. Trust me, you may have thought your Jimmy Buffett concert experience was full, but it's not complete until you see how the rest of the country does it (and by the way, it's comforting to know that there's so many great minds thinking alike here).

A "preferred reading" for anyone who's ever been curious about life as a Parrothead, and a MUST HAVE for anyone who's ever worn a grass skirt or a coconut bra to a concert. Thanks Jackson!

JimmyDOTCom captures the true parrothead experience
When I first met Jackson Quigley during his Jimmy Buffett Beach House On The Moon concert marathon he was doing "research" for this book. Now I'm not sure how he got this job, but it's one I'd love to have. It is definitely a parrothead's dream job, and Jackson did it supremely well. I have about all the parrothead books that have been published, but this book does by far the best job of capturing the whole parrothead experience. I have always struggled to answer people when they ask me what a parrothead is and why the heck do I need to go to sooo many Jimmy Buffett concerts every year. I got to the point where I just shook my head and didn't even try to explain parrotheadism (if that's even a word). I'd just tell them to go to a concert or two and maybe they'd get it then. Well now I can just tell them to buy this book and I think they'll definitely get it. Kudos to Jackson Quigley for doing all that hard research in getting this book together. I was glad to finally pick up my copy at Meeting of the Minds 2000. This book is entertaining not only for parrotheads, but I think just about anyone would thoroughly enjoy having it on their coffee table.

These ARE the people your parents warned you about!
When I received my copy of JimmyDOTcom I had to prepare before I even opened it. I loaded my CD player with Buffett music (the good old stuff that I love so much) and opened a bottle of good red wine and filled my chalice. OK, now I was ready! I gotta tell ya, this book covers every aspect of the Parrothead lifestyle. Jackson tacks us through this sea of Parrothead craziness with true love and appreciation of everything he is taking in. What is great about this book is that it is obviously being told to us by a man who has been living amongst these colorful fun-loving characters for a long time and loving every minute of it! The book also shows the side of Parrotheads that most people are unaware existed. You'll see many community and environmentally conscious folks who give and give. If you are new to the Parrothead sub-culture, this book shows (through stories written by fans and many, many wonderful pictures) that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I plan to take this book to work so my co-workers can see that there are a lot others out there like me! I've been a fan of Buffett since 1978 and seen the fans evolve. It's great to finally to see a book that is written by a TRUE FAN that is all about US. We, the fans, are the story! So, if you are a Jimmy Buffett fan of ANY degree, THIS IS YOUR BOOK! THIS IS YOUR LIFE!

Fun for Parrotheads
As a Buffett fan, I had to read this book. The short stories were entertaining - all the more enjoyable if you are familiar with his songs. As one would expect from Jimmy Buffett, sailing and Caribbean adventure punctuate the book, which was fun - but quite frankly the same devices got a little old after awhile. Many characters seemed to be cut from the same cloth (no matter what the story), and the plot lines were uniformly simple. Buffett is a fine musician and songwriter - but he leaves something to be desired as a writer.

Okay, so you know the song... now read the stories!
Margaritaville is Jimmy Buffett's biggest hit, and if your knowledge of him ends there, that's okay. This book of short stories, some fiction, some autobiographical, is excellent tropical escapism at its finest. Love, triumph, coming-of-age, you can almost pick the archetype, and in one way or another, he addresses it with a magnificent cast of characters, from the bizarre friends in our own neighborhoods, to good-natured scoundrels we'd love to emulate if we could, to the girl next door we wish we could reconnect with.

Buffett's descriptive style is reminiscent of Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon books, and it works so well, you can almost see exactly where the characters are walking to in their towns, smell the aromas, hear the townspeople in the street, etc. Rumor has it that a studio optioned the book... I can't wait to see the movie!

Buffett Literary Debut
Jimmy Buffett's songs always have a the feel of mini-stories, so it was only natural that he would take a crack in the literary world. This debut book is a collection of short stories that was released as a companion to his cd Off To See The Lizard. The stories are expansions of the songs on the cd. They are delightful to read and are liberally spiked with Mr. Buffett's humor. You can almost picture sitting at some bar in Key West listening to Mr. Buffett spin these yarns. Light and breezy and good fun.

A SAD DAY
Aye, me hearties, 'twas a sad, sad day when our hero penned this tripe. I love Jimmy's music as much as the next Parrothead. Nobody does what he does better. Sigh. Mr B never met a piece of clever wordplay he didn't love. I suspect he has them catalogued and cross-referenced like a vaudevillian's joke library. And they make fine hooks onto which a tunesmith can attach his melodies. So be it. But when they are sprinkled, like powdered sugar, with calculated monotony over the narrative of this book, it's enough to (...) off a Parrothead but good. The dialogue is flat, no sense of suspense or believability is ever reached. It's a real slog through the mangroves. Two thoughts kept interrupting my attempt to concentrate on the story: here is yet another pop ego run seriously amok, and/or here is a cynical stab by JB, Inc., to repackage the old stuff and separate even more moolah from the faithful. I assume the movie rights have already been sold, probably "pre-sold", and the man is laughing all the way to the bank. Jimmy, the world needs more fruitcakes and less (sic) bakers. Elmore Leonard you ain't.

BUFFETT AT HIS BEST
This was an incredible piece of work, Buffett at his best! I picked this book up at an airport on a trip to Hawaii, and found myself still enthralled in this book upon landing. It's a love story, an adventure, a tale of a simple man and his dog and the wild adventure that insues is one for the ages. I am sorry that [another] review was so insulting to the man and his work, any true Parothead would know that Jimmy Buffett is not a man concerned with marketing, money, or putting a ....... piece of literature out for his fans to make some money. I would have to encourage people to read the book for themselves .................... Joe Merchant is a timeless tale of the life that we all secretly would love to live.

A wonderful over all book
When my friends first saw me with a copy of a book by Jimmy Buffet, the obvious reaction was laughter. When I saw myself in the mirror reading a book by Jimmy Buffet, I too was sent into fits of spasmodic laughter. And when my fits ended, I started the first "chapter." One day later, I realized that I had not eaten nor slept for 24 hours, because I was immediately taken in by this world that was created by the Alabama born, beach dwelling, musician. To compare this book with such great works as Ayn Rands "fountain head", or Hesses "steppenwolf" seems impossible and actually, somewhat stupid. But I tell no lie when I say that these three books are my favorite pieces of literature in the history of the written word. I was not, at the time I read this novel, a "parrot head", but soon after I was. The author does such a fine job of conveying his feelings, and situitaions, that I found myself soon wondering if I wouldn't be better cut out for the life of a... well, a... beach bum(?) as well. We truly are blessed to have such a talented man as Jimmy Buffet in our generation. He is a brilliant musician, and writer, and thanks to him, we have some kind of escape from the suffocating skyscrapers we've erected as some false idol. Thanks to him, we can retreat to some tropical beach somewhere, if only in our imagination. So, I would reccomend this book to not only "parrot heads," but to all future "parrot heads," in other words, anyone who is intrested in having fun.
