A Must Have for Fortune Tellers
This little book is awesome !!! I find it hard to leave this book alone since i got it.

Gypsy Fortune telling Features: Palmistry, Tea leaf reading, Dice, Poker Card, Tarot Card and others.

My favorite has always been the dice method, which is easy and accurate and the palmistry section, which is very informative and i hope that this section could be expanded.
This little book is worth the money and the time.
Overall, excellent and clear illustrations, definitions and explanations on every method. Ray gave good instructions in this book.
i only wish that every section in this book could be more elaborated.

Extremely Fascinating
This cute little inexpensive book offers a lot of information on methods of divination different than the tarot and runes. I especially enjoy the section on die casting; although most of the questions are about love, I found the answers to be amazingly accurate. The rest of the book contains hand reading, tea leaves, crystal gazing, card reading, dominoes, moles, fire reading, gemstones, knives, and omens. A good resource for those who wish to try their hand at divination.

I loved this book. It was excellent!
This book had many ways of divination in which to use. It had great areas in which you could apply the divination. I have read this book so many times the pages are falling out! That is how much I loved this book!

The Truth About Spirit Communication (Llewellyn's Vanguard Series)
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (1995)
Authors: Ray Buckland and Raymond Buckland
Amazon base price: $1.99

A thorough and well-written introduction to the subject
Although I cannot recommend all of Mr. Buckland's books, this and "Doors to Other Worlds" are two of his very best. This book serves to dispel some common myths about spirit communication (i.e. Ouija, seances, automatic writing etc.) and teaches you the reality of the art. It begins with an outline of the 5 levels of the spirit world and a thorough discussion of each, then moves on to discuss the history of the Spiritualist movement and religion. Buckland offers definitions of many common terms, such as clairaudience and channeling, and offers advice for doing each. At the end there is a FAQ covering such topics as life after death, angels, and possessions. I would suggest buying both this and "Doors to Other Worlds" (an expanded version) if you are interested in the truth and methods of spirit communication.

The Buckland Romani Tarot: In the Authentic Gypsy Tradition

Be a Gypsy - or at least use appropriate cards...
I don't own very many Tarot decks - I've never been interested in collecting them. I'm a lot more interested in using a deck that speaks to me - a deck that allows me to be a better reader for others.

I find the vibrant colors and highly evocative imagery of this deck to be one of the more interesting I've ever used. The basic images aren't that different from other decks that you won't know what the cards mean anymore, but they're different enough to allow you to gain a whole new insight on the Tarot by using this deck.

The four cards that are shown in the picture section give you a good idea of what some of the cards from this deck look like. I'm particularly fond of the secondary interpretations that one can divine from these cards. Are those Gypsy children getting a drink from the cups on the stairs of the Six of Cups or are they spiking a cup with a Gypsy love potion? It's up to the reader to decide - based on the cards around you in a reading.

The art is fantastic and reminds me a lot of the supposed Gypsy heritage of Tarot cards, although some people might be put off by that type of imagery. The colors and symbolism give me a great insight when using this deck to give readings to others.

The book is very informative and it's use of the images from the cards enhances it's value to potential users of this deck.

But it's not too overpowering for new Tarot readers either, and that's a big plus. This deck might work well at a carnival or renaissance fair if you want to give it an ideal flavor. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in Tarot reading, especially if you are interested in Tarot readings for other people, and not just self discovery.

Simple, Effiecient and Full of Energy!
After taking a very interesting tarot reading in downtown sau paulo, I was hooked this original method of divination. I started looking around for something that displays the tradition in itself and is also well designed to learn from and for quicker reading. Many books were on the subject, some kits which contain the decks too. However, most were designed in a way that only experienced tarot readers would be interested. I lost my desire after a while. Then, I came across the Buckland Romani Tarot kit. I was impressed by the cover art done by Lissane Lake so I bought it as a last chance pursuit. Three weeks later, I was literally being paid a visit by friends and relatives who were amazed by the degree of accuricy and speed of my previous readings. It took me two days to get the actual hand and with the amazing, thorough guide book that comes with this deck, I quickly became a Gypsy myself! This is an amazing kit, just looking at the deck itself i sense the power within. If you're interested in tarot and you want to be a part of this amazing art, buy this and only this!

Love it!
What a remarkable odyssey! Such things have been revealed to me since I bought this deck. My mother tearfully confessed to me that for 82 years she has kept the secret that she was born of English-Romani ancestry, and so I too must be Rom--like those depicted in these cards. Then I found out that my father's family just might also be Romani. Unbelievable! I'm still in shock. I had no idea but it's no wonder I love this deck and book. They seem to speak to me personally, and I find they work very well for me indeed. I also love the illustrations. They depict a proud people. -- Harry Mason

The Buckland Gypsies' Domino Divination Deck/Domino Cards

Buckland makes domino divination easy
The Buckland Gypsies' Domino Divination Deck Llewellyn Publications, 1995 Review by Patrick McCallister

For thousands of years, people from Chinese mystics to Welsh pub goers have used the dominoes to look into the future. Indeed, domino divination is, according to the writers of "Predicting Your Future," a collaborative work by the Diagram Group, dominoes are still a popular method of divination in China and India.

Raymond Buckland's 1995 cards with booklet publication, "The Buckland Gypsies' Domino Divination Deck" is the first 20th-century English-language work to deal exclusively with domino divination. Many other writers have given it all-to-brief treatments as sections of books.

Buckland's card publication does an outstanding job of simplifying double-six domino divination, so even a beginner can get accurate readings from the start. Using Buckland's deck, people can divine for themselves in minutes.

The interpretation of each domino is printed on the cards, along with the dot patterns. The divination interpretations Buckland uses are backed by books published as long ago as 1814.

In addition, those taking up domino divination now have Carlos G. y Poenna's book "The Yoruba Domino Oracle" to use. The Samuel Weiser publication was released in March, 2000.

While Buckland and Poenna's works use different schools of double-six domino divination, they compliment each other, making it easier than ever to learn the practice.

About the Reviewer: Patrick McCallister is a domino-divination researcher, and is an experienced domino diviner. He's done thousands of readings using this augury method.

He's written an as-yet unpublished book about the subject, "Ya Pai Shen Po: A Complete Guide to Domino Divination."

He's a reporter for The DeLand Beacon newspaper and free-lance writer, who's published articles about domino divination in By The Numbers and Waxing & Waning.

Cast the bones
The origin of dominoes is as shrouded in mystery as is the origin of the tarot cards. Both the East and the West claim dominoes however there are substantial differences. Chinese dominoes consist of 32 tiles with no zero or null tiles, such as 0, 0 through 0, 6. The Western "double 6" dominoes consists of 28 tiles. The same number of days to a lunar cycle and the same number of days as a woman's menstrual cycle. Just a coincidence? I think not! The very word "domino" mean "Oh Lord" or "I am Lord" Legend has it that the game was popular among monks who kept vows of silence. However, they were permited to exclaim the word "Domino" when they won at the game.Raymond Buckland makes tapping into the mystery of this devination technique very simple. However, don't be fool by the simplicity of the method. Complication does not go hand-in-hand with sophistication. Domino devination is as sophisticated as any divination method. And it doesn't suffer from some of the arcane clap-trap that surrounds some of the better know divination methods. So grab this kit, grab a set of domino tiles, and learn to "cast the bones."

Cardinal's Sin: Psychic Defenders Uncover Evil in the Vatican
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (1996)
Author: Raymond Buckland
Amazon base price: $5.99
Average review score:

Good read
Like "The Committee," Buckland's novel keeps you wanting more. He obviously did some research on the Vatican and found a way to weave it into the story line. His two main characters, I feel, are well-developed, but the others need a little more depth. His writing is a little spare, but, hey, Hemingway got away with it, so why not. Looking forward to developments in later novels.

A good read of a book concerning magick in fiction
Raymond Buckland is quite an authority on magick and psychism in the USA. His talent in this area has led him to create a good book using it with his characters. The magick is believable, although somewhat pushing the limits of imagination.

This book could have been 5 stars except that Buckland lacks the necessary ingridients in making well fleshed out characters. The other problem with this book I felt is that the villian is given to us too early on along with his motives. We know exactly what he is up to and this detracts from the overall layout of the story!

If you are into magick, psychism, wicca, voudoun or any other type of esoterical beleif system, I think that you will find this book a good read!

Nonsense
Yet another attempt to get into another genre of the writing world. Too bad you didn't advise all the readers of all your past works about the fiction in them. Most of us in the Craft know about your ability to sound valid and this is yet another stunt to show that you have talent in the writing field. New Flash: YOU DON'T. Maybe a biography of you might be a good idea for one of the many of us who have known of your bookwriting episodes. Wouldn't it be fun for a tell-all book about Buckland to come out? Bet it would be better than this one!

Magick of Chant o Matics
I reviewed this book and found alot of pressuring against the will. A friend and I reviewed it though she may use it from time to time I found my spirit guides disliking the use. I preferred the few that were open and not directed at a specific individual or business. I like the light affect where it is send in a friendly matter without bearing pressure. Almost like giving birth without a baby. Recently had someone practice a few on me and found it quite disturbing. I prefer the old technique a teacher once taught me create your own and realize that good of others. REMEMBER God will is not controllable for it force is for the path of the individual not mine. Though I enjoy studying his technique since high school I would say your warning in the book is quite clear.
I did find one and only one I used to find a new job because I felt the isolation and negative pressure in an old accounting position that left me in tears for several months. So I prayed with that one chant not directed at any business or anyone. My prayer chant was answered with a new position with $2.50 more an hour that almost led me to a lead position. I would truly say God took good care of me. I like the openess of success without pressure and refuse to go against God will be it Pagan or Christian or any other religion. I respect them all.

Definitely Works
At first sight, this book looks like something you'd find in a bargain bin or clearance section. Whoever wrote this must have some imagination, let alone a twisted sense of humour, right? Well, here's the good part.....IT WORKS!!! This is a healthy skeptic talking now and I don't buy into anything easily, especially if the author is already known. The key words are "Healthy Skepticism" which you need when you review this book. Don't buy it out of desparation, but at the same time don't dismiss it out of ignorance and pride. Keep an open mind and start with a simple chant. Be open if the chant doesn't work right away. Some desires take time to manifest because there are other factors and players involved. Everything is a domino effect. Remember also that we don't always get what we want just because we want it. Sometimes maybe to save us from pain or maybe because there is something better coming. From "my" experiences these chants do work. I've used several already from finding a new job, getting a loan paid back to me, and eliminating negative people. The only main thing this book could use is a rewrite. Some of the chants are hard to pronounce and the procedures could be explained better. I found myself asking "what if" questions a lot, but nevertheless, the chants still worked. So as anyone would say, you be the judge.

CANT BEAT THE RESULTS
great won horse races with it was effective 88 to 100 percent also changed peoples minds, the words could be more larger but i chanted them slowly and they were alright was very pleased with their accuracy especially when trying to win horse races just did them same day of race also wrote them down on yellow pads next to entries terrific

Doors to Other Worlds: A Practical Guide to Communicating With Spirits
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (1993)

Average review score:

This book really didn't help me too much
But it seems to be a big seller so maybe I'm just not getting it. There is no doubt that Mr. Buckland knows what hes talking about though.

Practical
A good little book for those interested in spirit communication, espiritismo, spiritualism, etc. Buckland presents theory and practical information. Much better than Ted Andrew's book on Spirit Guides. Recommended.

I knew what I was getting into...
I had read the reviews and somehow thought this was the book for me. No indeed. This book lost me once it got past the history of the Spiritualism movement. I tend not to be a skeptic in matters of the paranormal, particularly involving life after death, but seriously, this book did not really provide any useful insight or information into communications, like the title implies.

Practical Candleburning Rituals (Llewellyn's Practical Magick Series)
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (1987)
Author: Raymond Buckland
Amazon base price: $7.95
Average review score:

It's ok, but not great.
This book bothered me somewhat. Bucklands use of black candles is a bit mixed up. Black is used for protection, or at least it is in every other resource I have come across.

I also had a bit of a problem with his magick spells geared towards christians, however, in all fairness to Buckland, he does point out that Witchcraft is a religion, and magick is a practice. That said, I took a pencil and slashed every page that carried christian invocation of spells ( a personal choice so I wouldn't waste time reading the wrong version ).

Overall, it's not a bad book on candle magick. It provides some interesting spells to use, despite my disagreement with Buckland's choice of colors and what there suppose to be used for or what they represent, but hey, that's my personal choice. Which leads me to this statement..I don't believe any spell should be used per batem from a book. You look at the spell, you read it, and to make it your own, YOU CHANGE IT, even just a little..

So, if you want a book on candle magick, this one is ok. Take what you like from it and simply disregard the rest. Blessed Be.

Great book for candle burning rituals!!
Buckland's book, Practical Candle Burning Rituals, is great for doing any type ritual he has mentioned. It also is two sided...given you a Christian version for non-Witches and a Pagan side for Witches/Wiccans/Pagans to use.The directions are easy to follow and if you follow the directions that he has set for timing, moon phases, and use the appropriate colors your spell should work for you.I refer back to his book many times when I am teaching my students...especially when they want to know the appropriate colors and altar layouts for candle spells. The way Buckland has written this book is what works for him..there is no law that says you can not improvise your own words into the rituals he has written to make them work for you.Excellent book...easy rituals and great results!

Practical Candleburing Rituals
this is a very good book for those starting in any kind of magic. It is easy to read and understand with with diagrams on setting up the altar with the candles and how to use them. Good starter book for those who love candles and those who don't. It has rituals for the christian and non-christian.
