A 'precious' book
Services Marketing in Asia is extremely well-written and a rare gem. The base text on Service Marketing teaching is great - vintage Lovelock and team you could say - but what stood out for me was the wealth of case studies.

I have been through a couple of similar books in the past. But coming from Singapore, I have found most of the examples and case studies to be American or Euro-centric in nature, and not always readily applicable to the Asian context.

Not to say that non-Asians would not benefit for this book, for I have found the insights in these case studies applicable across culture and industries.

I highly recommend this. This is definitely one book I would keep within an arm's length for ready reference.

Finally, a textbook on Services Marketing in Asia!
This book helps me in understanding the services marketing landscape in Asia. Filled with Asian examples and cases, it's really a gift from the god for the Asian students.

A remarkable anthology of twenty-four poets
The Franconia, New Hampshire, farm of the American poet Robert Frost was turned into a museum and center for poetry and the arts in 1976. From that time, "The Frost Place" has been annual event wherein an emerging poet has been invited to spend the summer living in the house where Frost once lived and wrote some of his greatest poetry. The Breath Of Parted Lips: Voices From The Robert Frost Place, Volume One is a remarkable anthology of twenty-four poets, each of whom won that honor of a summer's residency and document the success of the original concept as a means of generating outstanding poetry while nurturing the poet's muse in the rooms and views that were once the inspiration of the great Robert Frost. Poem At 40: Windwashed--as if standing next to the highway,/a truck long as the century sweeping by,/all things at last bent in the same direction./An opening, as if all/the clothes my ancestors ever wore/dry on lines in my body:/wind-whipped, parallel with the ground,/some sleeves sharing a single clothespin/so that they seem to clasp hands,/seem to hold on.//And now that I can see/up the old women's dresses,/there's nothing but a filtered light./And now that their men's smoky breath/has traversed the earth,/it has nothing to do with them./And now that awkward, fat tears of rain/slap the window screen,/now that I'm naked too,/cupping my genitals, tracing with a pencil/the blue vein between my collar bone and breast,/I'll go to sleep when I'm told.

Very Good For The Advanced Shotokan Karateka
This is not a book of "How To" competition techniques. It is about flexibility, foot-work and advanced kicks. The 6/7 fighting techniques are not for karateka below 3rd Kyu. If you are a serious traditional Karateka who wants to train for kumite, this is a good buy.

Visually Stunning
An art book that doesn't get eaten alive by its art direction, a self-guided tour of the artistic self promotion of the punk rock era. Kudos to the art director, John Susoeff, for not getting carried and burying the true stars of this book: The flyers. Brilliant.

a must for the counter culture coffee table!
This artbook art does an admirable job of recapturing the spontaneity, dark humor and angst of a little known American DIY music scene: the punk rock underground of the late 70's and early 80's. For those unfamiliar with this type of free form art/social commentary/teen angst, this book will be a real eye opener. For those who eagerly awaited the next flier to appear on their local telephone pole directing them to the next Black Flag gig, this is one wickedly twisted stroll down memory lane.

The only criticism is the scarcity of fliers from parts of the country outside the east and west coasts. However, fans of Raymond Pettibone's amazing art will be pleased to revisit his early work. An added bonus is the written commentary by local scenesters and musicians who were there when these fliers first appeared. This is juxtaposed by the merciful lack of pompous art historical/criticism blather. Props to the editors/designers who put the whole thing together: the overall layout and design mirrors the art presented: immediate, spontaneous and in your face.

Best collection of punk flyer art ever.
The first production from KILL YOUR IDOLS is a jamming book. They are working on a follow-up book to cover those influenced by early Punk Rock including more skate/surf Punk, speed metal and more. I hope it's as great as this.

And the scholar spoke
Christopher Bryan's modest, probing reflection on how to read Scripture was a fun read -- that sounds flippant, but I found his prose style entirely accessible and his witness welcome. The book doesn't go into a lot of depth; it's aimed at a general Christian reader. But his words lend assurance to those of us who search Scripture for truth and for a guide to our faith journey -- a journey that tries to navigate between the contortions of literal readings and the iconoclasm of liberal theology. He is especially cogent when he proposes how the Lambeth Conference should have approached searching for meaning in Scripture -- a love-inspired, serious approach other denominations grappling with issues of the day could learn from. I look forward to reading more of his work.

A profound and highly recommended theological wake-up call
And God Spoke: The Authority Of The Bible For The Church Today by Christopher Bryan (C. K. Benedict Professor of New Testament at the School of Theology, University of the South) is a serious, yet highly accessible study of how the Bible is to be interpreted in today's modern world. Viewing the Bible as revelation, canon, authoritative and the Word of God, and applying its studied wisdom to making tough choices, And God Spoke is a profound and highly recommended theological wake-up call vividly summoning the reader's attention to the textual core of Christian holy belief.

Not subtle enough
This book is close to that fine line that helps bring seekers closer to God and the bible thumping scripture warns us against.
I found the book entertaining and well written, but spoke more to general how to conduct business and how to lead a simple life than it was about lessons learned at Enron. I shared it with some Enron employees hoping to move them closer to God before actually reading it which was a mistake. The book comes on strong. This is an excellent book when shock therapy is required to snap people out of bad business behavior.

Eye Opening, this book is about more than the Enron fallout
The Enron fallout exposes major problems in our economy that go much deeper than business philosophy. These authors tell the story of Enron in a way that is insightful and spellbinding. If you want to know more about Enron and learn ways we all can become better people, this is the book for you!

The chapter on pride was worth the price of admission.
