As an active duty Captain I was given this book by my father who is an Army Colonel. A great tabletop/bookshelf book with a history of the army which is enlightening, particulary the many photos and captions. The history is the chapters themselves is somewhat simplistic and "politically correct." Some of the Army's less glorious moments are conviently written out or glossed over or sanatized rather than dealt with in a forthright manner - i.e. the Indian wars, Civil War (southern generals are pictured but not discussed in depth), Bonus Marchers, etc. This doesn't take away from it being an excellent primer on the Army, its history, organization, values, and goals.

The many included paintings from Don Stivers, Rick Reeves, Mort Kunstler really make this edition shine. I think nearly every US Army Stivers print has made it into this edition. If you love military art this is a great value.

Four out of five stars for the sanitized P.C. history of the army. Five for the illustrations, paintings, pictures, and nice binding of this edition. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a well illustrated U.S Army history.

This book is an excellent source for anyone interested in military service history. My hats off to BG Nelson, General Sullivan, and General Shinseki for a great book. This brings to light events with which the Army is involved. Think about it, the Army brings in names like Powell, Shalikashvili, & Shinseki. All three brought in their own histories that greatly impacted the way the Army does business, and how it creates opportunities not for just a few, but for everybody wishing to commit to military service. I salute the U.S. Army for a great historical record.

I found this dictionary to be a valuable and interesting resource. It was perfect for understanding simple class work or adding substance to an intense research paper. Plus, it was easy to use and understand--even for a high school student!

This new edition of The Facts On File Dictionary Of Environmental Science updates over 4,000 cross-referenced entries on the subject, adding over 1,000 new terms and providing a reference tool on everything from waste management and global warming to population issues. Eight appendixes are presented here, and the blend of a dictionary format with extensive cross-referencing makes for an excellent basic library reference.

Never a mormon city found. Show me some ancient north american elephant bones. These guys forged and cast metal right? Show me an iron spear from a nephite? or laminite?. Spelling? I'm sure Blaine M. Yorgason is a genius(under hypnotic spell A.K.A. BYU). But it is impossible to make something out of nothing. Put your beliefs on trail, scrutinize every detail.There lies the truth, not professeing that Joe Smith was a prophet of god like an android every Sunday. If the glove doesn't fit you must acquit.

Don't waste your time with this book. For 170 years now there hasn't been a scintilla of evidence found which substantiates any LDS claim that Christ visited the Americas or that any of the Book of Mormon peoples, cities, histories, etc ever happened or ever existed---except when it is being argued by LDS scholars. Please, please, will any Mormon please recommend even a single book, written by a non-Mormon archeologist or historian, which corroborates ANY Mormon claims concerning the pre-Columbian New World?

The evidence and arguments presented by this book are so compelling that anyone who doubts that Jesus visited America is kidding themself. Surely after reading this Book Alex Loya will need to accept that there is abundant archeological evidence for the history included in the Book of Mormon.

This is an overhaul manual? I could have sworn it read like the Sunday comics with its pictures and captions. There is hardly enough beef in this book to help anyone rebuild an engine. Maybe if you had a NASCAR crew chief with 30 years of experience on your side you'd be able to rebuild an engine with this guide, but otherwise it's useless. At least I borrowed the book from a library and didn't waste my money. There's not enough detail, not enough clarity, and the instructions are vague. It spends like the first 5 chapters discussing how to use a micrometer and know how to build your own workbench. If I wanted to build a garage - I'll get my dad to help or a Bob Vila book, thank you very much.

I suppose this book is fine for those people who aren't going to attempt to do more than change the oil or maybe replace the brake shoes. I've found that anything more than that is either skipped over or mentioned only in passing. For example, the section on installing the intake manifold consists only of a picture of the manifold. The fault diagnosis sections aren't terribly helpful either. A few possibilities per symptom are listed, but they are very vague, for example, "mechanical damage." Occasionally you will find a helpful bit of information, but for the most part this book is a waste of money.
