Excellent book for Beginer Friends
My two boys love this book. Its a childs simplistic version of "How to be a Friend" and it is great. Right on their level and easy for them to relate to. The Arthur type characters are appealing to children and they make the book their choice for the evening and want me to read it again and again :) I have the hardback, it was a great find.

Great guide for all kids.
This book is an excellent tool for parents and teachers to use with kids in the often times daunting world of social relatedness. Even kids who are very social would enjoy the way these gentle reminders are presented. Highly recommended for the special needs arena of Aspberger's and High Functioning Autism. Our autistic son loved and responded well to the almost "social story" approach. This truly spelled out a lot of social do's and don't's for him. His typical sister loved it as well. As a parent I highly recommend this book be in every kindergarden and first grade and second grade classroom. I bought several copies.

Enter the world of a toddler with this book!
All four of my cildren have LOVED this book! It goes through various aspects of a toddler's world, from "wake-up time", geting dressed, pretend, and uses MANY phrases these dear little ones say frequently at this age. My favorite is "" I did it! By self!" What parent hasn't heard that one a hundred times! It encourages that healthful independence that emerges in this period of development and covers family, friends, leter, numbers, colors and more! This book focuses on the joyful part of being a toddler! I had to search high & low to get a new copy, because our old one is hanging on by a thread. Hopefully, there will be more books printed for you to share with YOUR toddler!

This is an EXCELLENT book for children as well as parents. It covers artwork from New Guinea to Mexico, artists such as Renoir, Cassatt, Rousseau, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Pollack, Picasso and Warhol, silver items by Paul Revere and various sculptures. Works from Primitive to Twentieth Century. A must-have book for parents who wish to share their enthusiasm, and prepare their children for a visit to the art museum.

Good book for children going through divorce
My divorce lawyer recommended this book to me after I expressed concern about how my kids might be handling my divorce. To be honest, it struck me as somewhat childish, but both of my sons took to it and claimed that it made them understand what was happening... and that it made them feel better to know they were not the only ones who've experienced this. And that was good enough for me!

Great Book
I am an elementary guidance counselor that works with children whose family is going thru or has gone thru divorce. This book is fantastic in helping the children understand what is going on in their life. I love the way it is broken down into sections, so that I can use the section that will best help the child. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!

Dinosaurs Divorce brought comfort to our changing family
My daughter was 6 at the time of my divorce and reading this book became an every night event. The book helped her to understand her feelings and provided great comfort. Tonight, we discussed one of her classmates whose parents are divorcing and my daughter asked if she could buy a Dinosaurs Divorce for her friend. So here we are...purchasing one to pass along to a friend. We both highly recommend this book!

A Swan
This collection of seventeen poems presents fourteen different species of birds to the reader. The poems vary in length from just a few lines to multiple stanzas. The poems are at times lyrical, thoughtful, and whimsical. Each poem gracefully presents a unique charactereistic, behavior, and/or habit of each bird to the reader. The poems are complemented by double-page water color paintings which accurately depict each bird. There are short notes about each bird at the back of the book. The book is beautiful and would appeal to elementary as well as middle school students.

The beauty of nature with a fact or two!
In Bird Watch, the poet integrates a fact or two about the bird as she paints an elegant picture of its uniqueness and beauty. The reader can envision the cardinal, brilliantly sitting atop the white blanket of snow, "A brilliant blot on winter's page." Or see the song birds, sitting on telephone lines that in one's mind now become lines of music and the birds "like scattered notes." Other inviting features of the book include the bird facts in the back and Ted Lewin's illustrations, marvelously bringing each bird to life. When in search for nature poetry, Jane Yolen is the end of your journey. Enjoy!

Nonsense
Someone has to tell me the "Big Secret" why the author goes all over the place rather than dealing directly with "Talking About Sex With Girls and Boys." And it's more baffling when you consider that the publishers have recently placed out of print their hallmark book on the subject, "How Babies Are Made," which so beautifully, simply, and directly has been enormously successfull in dealing with sex education for youngsters since 1969. I'm all for improvement, but this new book sure doesn't do it!

Very helpful book for younger kids already asking questions
I bought this book for my eight year old son who was already posing questions like, "What is sex ?". I found the book informative enough to answer his innocent questions, yet delicate enough to address when talking about sex is appropriate and who to talk to if you have more questions than the book answers. We gave our son a week to look over the book and read it several times. At the end of the week, both his father and I sat down with him to answer any questions he might still have. To our delight, the only question remaining in his mind was how to pronounce the word...

Great book but not really for kids under 7....
Last summer I read this book to my then just turned 7 & just turned 4 yr old and the youngest was completely clueless as to what I trying to get across. The oldest understood somewhat, wasn't all that interested, but still managed to let a few giggles out. She took the book and read it herself. When I later asked her if she had any questions for me, she had none but commented that it was "embarrassing". The book was put away to age a little longer....
Earlier this week I re-read the book to both of them, now almost 5 and almost 8. The 5 yr old is still clueless and bored with all of it. The 8 yr old seemed a bit more interested and less embarrassed. She took the book and again read it to herself and asked a few "why" questions but nothing I couldn't handle.
In my opinion, this book is great for 7 - 10 yr olds (1st - 3rd grade), not the pre-school - grade 3 that it is catagorized. Enough for 7 - 10 yr olds to comprehend and enough for this age to know. Not overwhelming in technical terms or detail nor is it written in baby terms. I agree with a previous reviewer. When the teen years arrive, more information, terms & detail will need to be divulged but for this pre-teen age. For pre-teens, this book is perfect.
