The Brown Derby Restaurant: A Hollywood Legend
Anyone who is interested in old Hollywood must read this book.It is not only filled with pictures andrecipes, but nostalgia and history ofbygone days.Robert Cobb, not only owned the BrownDerby, but also owned a baseball team. The Hollywood Stars of the Pacific Coast League was in existence from 1939to 1957. The Los Angeles Dodgers cameWest in 1958 and the Stars were gone. The book was co-written by Sally Cobb, widow of the owner. Her personal thoughts and love are written throughout this book. I personally ama collector of old menu's and a historian regarding the Pacific CoastLeague. I certainly was fascinated andwrapped up in the book.

The Brown Derby: Wonderful Photos and Stories
A priceless photo collection of Hollywood Stars that have never been released or seen since the 1940's and 1950's. The photos are from the late Sally and Bob Cobb's personal photo collection and some photos were taken by Geroge Hurrell. The stories are captivating, heart warming and a part of Hollywood history that is a must for movie buffs and the novice a like. Clark Gable and Bob Cobb spent many years together, hunting and fishing. One night after the kitchen at the Durby was closed, Bob mixed a salad together made mostly from left overs. Since that night the famous salad has been referred to as the "Cobb Salad". The story that best describes the Cobbs is the one story about the WWII soldier..very touching! A great gift or a nice coffee table conversation item!

Fabulous Photos! Fabulous Stories! Fabulous Food!
You don't have to be a fan of "old" Hollywood to enjoy this wonderful book about a famous restaurant and its even more famous clientele. Fascinating stories accompanied by wonderful pictures. This is only enhanced by the actual recipes of this great restaurant. A wonderful coffee table book that will start conversations about movies, movie stars and great food.

Valuable Resource
Widowing, Surviving the First Year, belongs in every church and doctor's office as a ready handout. In no nonsense style it offers a framework for dealing with the trauma of loosing a spouse. It covers the 'how tos' which bother us. How to cope, to grieve, to understand and to take the next steps to getting on with life are all covered in practical detail.

The book is sensative and supporting.

It is also a book for men who are living through the loss of a wife.

Professionally we give this book 5 stars. As a couple that have both lost partners we can only add our thanks to the many who praise this book.

A Must For A New Widow
I don't know what I would have done without this life-saving guidebook. Its practical suggestions and down to earth advice helped me to get control of my life when I was overwhelmed with grief. I will be forever thankful that I found this book when I needed it so much.

WOW! Finally, A Five Star Book About Widowing
This book is so helpful that it should be given to a new widow as soon as possible! They need it when all their family or friends have gone and they are coping all alone. A great gift.

Jane Eyer
Janr eyer is about a girl whose parents died when she was little. She moves in with her uncle and aunt. When her uncle died her aunt who really hates her wanted Jane to leave but she promised her husband that she would look after her. Jane ends up having no family to take care of her and to help her trough life. Mrs. Reed (the aunt) sends Jane to boarding school where at first she does not like it. She does not have a lot of friends. She made on friend named Mary Ann who got very sick and had died. Jane spends eight years at this school until she qualifies for a job as a governess to take care of a little girl named Adele. but whil she is there Jane falls in love with the master, Mr. Rochester. when they are about to get married there is a secert that Jane does not know about Mr. Rochester, which ends up spoiling the wedding. Jane is forced to move out of the house where she has no place to go. This book is very interesting and exciting throughout the novel. There are a lot of twist and turns that take place and it keeps you wanting more. I did not like how the book goes into detail about the landscape of the trees and what the weather is like for everyday. Jane is a very sweet orphan girl that keeps on getting lost and will never find her way home. She is passionate about her love. To me it reminds me of two high school kids in love. It's great that she ends up falling in love with theis guy becasue her life was very dull. Her life has no meaning until she meats him. This book is appropriate for the ages 13 and up because if the reader was younger they might lose interest in it. It is a romance novel. A story about a young girl without a fanily. Things change for her when she falls in love with Mr. Rochester. It has a twist to it that is not expected. this book is a thrilling story that will keep you on your toes until the end.

true love
Jane Eyer has a golden heart. the horrible 10 years in the hell-like school doesn't distort her kind heart. She cherished her self-esteem, her choice of being independant. She loves him not because his money, but the beautiful glimer in Mr rochester's heart.Mr rochester is also seeking for true love till he finds jane eyer. Jane eyer doesn't leave him because of his blind eyes, but she stays with him. This is love, True love, which now more and more difficult to be found in this world in which everyone pursues gold, but few pursue golden love---ture love.

A book that anyone can enjoy
I read this book in the 9th grade and at first felt lost, but I got hooked and could hardly put it down. In the beginning of the story, it starts with the young girl, Jane Eyre. She later grows up and becomes a governess and is under employment to a Mr. Rochester. She falls in love with him and him with her, but something gets in the way. This is where the plot thickens...that is all I'm going to say!

I loved this book
When going from whole grain wheat flour to white flour we lose from 60 to 80% of 12 out of 13 nutrients present at good, or excellent level in Whole Wheat. I loved this cookbook because all the recipes were for whole flours, and never white refined carbohydrates.

In this book you learn how to make a sour dough starter, and how to maintain it. You also learn about natural rise bread which is made without any yeast at all.

I highly recommend this book; unfortunately, I could not find another copy to buy. It seems to be out of print.

Breadtime Stories by Susan Jane Cheney
Fabulous whole wheat receipes that produce light fluffy bread. Good advice on dough handling procedures. Suggestions for tofu use. All in all a terrific cookbook!

An insightful journey
Excellent book. This was a first-hand look into the life of a teenage mother. Unlike most books which focus on the teenage mother, this book looked at the feelings of her father. This nine month journey was filled with the joys and sorrows, the happiness and the guilt that many fathers might feel if they were in "Bill's" shoes. As a minister, he fights with the moral and popular opinion of the choice his daughter has made and is firm in his commitment to stand behind her, no matter what she chooses.

Excellent book. Interesting as an unofficial case study.

A book about how important family really is
This story is about Little Brown Bear who doesn't want to go to sleep during all of winter. Instead he follows the geese south and takes a train with them. They do many fun things together. When he goes to a beach and builds a cave to sleep in, he realizes how bad he wants to go home. He wants to be with his mom and dad with his nice cozy bed. It is like in life when you are off somewhere where your parents aren't and you are having a lot of fun. After so much of that fun though, you start missing your family and the comfort of your own home. So, no matter what, sometime you will want to come back home. This book teaches you how important families are to people. It is a great book for little children to hear or read.

Very Helpful Indeed
Walking inside [a] store, I noticed the hardcover edition. From the moment I picked it up and began to read I found myself writing up the lesson provided in the CD Format. This is truly an outstanding compilation on writing and grammar usage. I would suggest it for anyone whether in or out of academic study. Get a copy for yourself before it is too late!
