If your a Mizzou fan or Alumnus, you ought to have this on the bookshelf at home. The author of this book, Bob Broeg, was an MU alumni that wrote more famously for the St. Louis Post Dispatch Sports section and became well-known for his coverage of the St. Louis Cardinals. He is often quoted by other writers such as David Halberstam as an expert on the Cardinals and would be included among the top sports writers of the past century. He uses a very editorialized style in this book, the same way newspaper reporters wrote in the 1930s and 40s. It's very entertaining and the book is incredibly informative with many great anecdotes and plenty of pictures. A whole lot of general football history is covered as well. If your a Missouri Tiger fan you'll love it. If you are into general football history, general sports history or the evolution of the big 8 conference you might find it interesting as well. The book on it's own is a 5-star, but I downgraded my recommendation 1 star based on the age of the book. The book's coverage ends in the early-70s.
