Totalitarian Freedom Forever
A cold war era vision of a future where the United States disintigrates into smaller regions, where one specifically in the west (called Dorado) falls into totalitarianism (!) complete with a stylized triangle shaped pinwheel symbol that implies a swastika. The reader is part of a rogue resistance group, whose over goal is to undermine the neofascist regime but more immediately - to escape (and hence the title.)

My favorite of R.A. Montgomery's CYOA books. I don't want to spoil much, just beware the treacherous Hayden.

Hijacked!
I wouldn't like to be on a bus or be taken hostage by someone. I can imaging how bad it would be. I just like freedom like right now.

It's enjoyable to read
Richard Brightfield is nice enough to include not only the probably basic knowledge of aikido but also East Timor's desire for independence from Indonesia in the book.

It can broaden our minds by making us aware of the oppression in East Timor and learn about the aikido techniques.

The best Choose Your Own Adventure Book about martial arts
This is a wonderful Choose Your Own Adventure book. It has great illustrations, and the best is probably the castle. Of this book I can only say this: with Frank Bolle's illustrations being so wonderful, and Richard Brightfield writing such a good book, you can be sure that they make a great team when making books like this. Don't miss this one.

A different type of cyoa, and it works!!
Choose your own adventure type boods have been a favorite for the imaginative, and now with this series, a new type of cyoa, where there are but one ending, and it is a good one! The story takes you all over the island, you make friends, and enemies. You can visit th same village twice, and have a different outcome when you return, just like real life. People you meet and things you see guide you to the correct path off the island and out of the star system Tenopia (In a later book) The book starts out by finding the island after a long journey in the sea of Tenopia (book 2) before that you were on the main island, in a search to get away, after crashing there. Throughout the entire series, you as the reader help the character get home. Each book makes for great reading for several months, as the story changes each time you read it (just like cyoa) I reccomend this book to every kid or kid at heart who loves a great adventure....

Hyperspace (Choose Your Own Adventure, No. 21)

The Best Book, The Worst Book
This is without a doubt my favorite book of the CYOA series. As an 11-year-old, the storyline was so bizarre and difficult to wrap my head around that it gave my brain a major workout. I would read this book over and over, and develop lots of new fantasies based on the scenarios from the book. On the other hand, this book is so esoteric that it might put some people off on the series, so I can't recommend it for everyone. You should get this book if you enjoy CYOA in general and have an open mind for exposing your mind to new and strange concepts. If you're getting this for a child, I'd wait until they are at least 8 or 9 years old, so that they at least have a foundation of learning they can use to understand the book.

I'm going to read the book once more now, and try again to figure out what the experience of being in the sixth dimension might be like...

The best "Choose Your Own Adventure" book
"Hyperspace" is my favorite of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books I have read, and it definitely deserves to be brought back into print. Its highly self-referential storyline results in such delights as characters who know they're characters in a "Choose Your Own Adventure" story, and what surely must be the most surprising cameo in the series--an appearance by a certain person whose last name is that of an old model of car... This book is a true classic of the heyday of plot-your-own stories.

The ne plus ultra of the series!
Edward Packard has just a little bit too much fun with Hyperspace, a minor classic. It's amazing that a "kiddie" book, albeit one soaked in self-referential post-modernism, remains an all-time favorite of mine.
