This book is great for anyone who is considering buying a gerbil or even for people who already have one. I most recommed it to people who are trying to convince their parents to let them have a gerbil. Even if you don't want to buy it it is still a good idea to check it out of your local library. It tells you every thing you ever wanted to know about gerbils. About food, housing , handling, anything you can think of. Have fun!

This book offers a comprehensive survey of rainbows, through an intriguing combination of mythology, art, science and history of science. Rainbows are relatively common elements of paintings and of modern-day advertising, but even great artists can make elementary mistakes in depicting rainbows. The lavish illustrations include reproductions of works of art, colour photographs of rainbows (some of which are stunning) and many diagrams. The authors provide lucid explanations of the science of rainbows without demanding significant mathematical ability on the part of the reader. If you enjoyed reading Carl Boyer's historical perspectives in his book "The Rainbow - from myth to mathematics", you will certainly enjoy this book. If you have more than a passing interest in rainbows, this is a "must buy" book!

I found this book informative and useful. Although materials have changed, techniques and appreciation of the wilderness have not. Raymond Bridge is right on when he explains how to camp and cook and travel in snow. He has accurate and timless information on how to sleep warm when it is very cold outside. The chapter on safety including avalanche information is accurate and unchanged. Other subjects include things like solo travel, pace, planning a trip, finding your way, storms, making your own equipment and a checklist of equipment to take. It was a pleasure to read this and see how accurate it still is. It is not much different than recent books on the subject, with the hype about so-called breathable/waterproof materials left out.
Worth having in your library if you can find a copy.

Many years ago when I started running, "The Runner's Book" was the first publication I purchased about running. In it I learned many basic stretching techniques, running styles, and ways to prevent common injuries. I learned about shoe design, and how to get the most out of every workout. This book served as my "beginners bible" of running. It sat on my bookshelf right next to Jim Fixx's "Complete Book of Running."

Rather small, it barely skims the surface of what an owner needs to know: is a dobe the right dog for you, food, bedding, accessories, temperament. You won't get much else out of it. If someone's on the fence about whether or not to get a doberman, this book MIGHT be worth buying.

I found the information presented was good and well thought out. I think this book is more applicable to the potential owner then the current owner, because of the training methods supported in the book. this may be due to when the book was written, but does not jive with most of the current literature that I have been reading.

I felt this book was very informative. It gave me informative insight toward the purchase and care of a doberman.
