Mr.Boyle succeeded in capturing the essence of small town life in North East Ohio. The town of Eastbrook sounds eerily like my hometown in Medina County, OH. I have taken to heart his message of being happy in spite of any obstacles that may be in the way. This book shows the positive outcome of life when intentions are good.

This book covers a lot but if you are the practical kind who wants to know how things work and implement them fast, this is not the book for reference. Some chapters are good and are detailed and informative, while some others contain such sparse information that the atleast I was totally confused.

The authors use easy-to-understand algorithms to explain difficult concepts, and carefully selected examples that make it very a comprehensive book. For me it is an excellent textbook for beginners as well as advanced image processing people.

We've been using this book in the image processing class I'm taking. I've found it very useful. It covers a large range of topics and manages to cover the material with just enough detail.

Cut-and-paste coders may want to look elsewhere, since this book stays away from code examples. Instead it uses a lot of algorithms. I've had little trouble implementing the filtering and segmentation techniques described in the book.

Publius Ovidius Naso's "Fasti" (calendar) is undoubtedly his most neglected piece of literature. It is justifiably belittled by his timeless epic the "Metamorphoses," it stands out as dull and lifeless when compared with the bawdy and lusty "Amores" and "Ars Amortoria," and it never reaches the emotional appeal of his famed "Heroides." Although the "Fasti" is a rich storehouse for Roman astronomy, religion, and ritual. And at times--mostly in the prologues to each of the calendars' months--Ovid takes his poetry to a level of creativity and depth that rivals his other poems; but unfortunately these are only short-lived. Another setback to the "Fasti" is the fact only six months out of the calendar year remain (January to June). It is up to question whether or not they were ever finished or simply didn't survive through the centuries; but nonetheless this misfortune is yet another hard knock for the "Fasti." It is certainly difficult to give Rome's most profound poet such a low rating, but when this is sized up with his other works, it doesn't stand a chance.
