A Delight For Word Epicures
Rosie Boycott, great-great-niece of *that* Captain Boycott, wrote a delightful little book (128 pages) of words that spring from someone's name. The bulk of the 250 or so definitions spring from the UK, USA, and Australia. The words range from ones with which I was already familiar (Sandwich, Wellington, Volt) to those to which I never connected a person before (cant, codswallop, gibberish). A pleasant read if you enjoy words and the English language. The great Thomas Crapper is of course present. The only reason for four stars rather than five is that it's too short, leaving the reader wanting more.

But if you are still a Doubting Thomas, this book will not deal you a yarborough. I am not a shyster. While this explanation is a bit of a Major Mitchell, I assure you that it's not a furphy! All taken from the book...Enjoy.
