Don't waste time reading this, go & buy it now !
This great book has joined my "Illustrative books collection" for the last 4 years. Being fond of illustrations, this book attracted me when I saw it first.
I haven't found any other illustrative book in Neurology and Neurosurgery which competes with this one!
Neurologic diseases have numerous signs and symptoms, not to mention the extensive neurological clinical exams. When I used to read some neurology books, I often didn't understand some of the features of a disease. This book has solved my problem !

- This book comes in 573 pages, in its 3nd edition (1997), and is published by Churchill Livingstone company. I hope there will be a new edition in the near future.

- It's classified into 5 sections:

Section 1 deals with General approach to history and examination.

Section 2: Investigations of the central & peripheral nervous systems. This section teachs you the basic physics and interpretation of the common investigations used e.g. x-rays, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, angiography, radionucleotide imaging, EEG, Evoked potentials, EMG, LP, and others.

Section 3: clinical presentation, anatomical concepts and diagnostic approach. It covers many issues from headache, raised ICP, disorders of sleep, memory, speech & language, to brain death.

Section 4: Localized neurological disease and its management e.g. head injury, subdural and epidural hematomas, TIA, CVA, intra-cranial tumors, and movement disorders. It also deals with spinal cord roots diseases and peripheral nerve and muscle diseases.

Section 5: Multi-focal neurological disease and its management e.g. meningitis, myelitis, poliomyelitis, AIDS, demyelination diseases, neurocutaneous disease, and more !

This book will be very useful for medical students and residents in Internal Medicine or Neurology. 10/10

One last advise, try to buy most, if not all, the Illustrated series e.g. Neurology and Neurosurgery Illustrated, Obstetrics Illustrated, Gynecology Illustrated, Biochemistry Illustrated, Physiology Illustrated etc. They're extremely useful, and you won't regret buying them!

Neurology and Neurosurgery Illustrated - A Review
This is an excellent addition to anyone's medical library. It is especially useful to those doing primary care. The descriptions of the various disorders are clear-cut and consice in easy to understand descriptions. The illustrations further reinforce the text allowing one to better visualize the affliction, the related anatomy, and any diagnostic testing. A well worth investment.

great book!
This book is about the class war federerations tabloid (Class War). It contains the history of the paper, and events surrounding it, very interesting for anyone interested in class politics and direct action. Not much on the deeper side of the politics, refer to their book "Unfinished Business" for the politics behind the chaos. Great stories, comics, and propaganda graphics, a must have for syndicalists and anyone into what democracy really looks like.

Give Your Dog a Bone

Saved my dogs' lives
All the info you need to feed your dog the way they are meant to eat is in here. Squeamish Americans may have trouble with this Australian vet's no-nonsense philosophy, but he's right and it works. He is a bit repetitive and production costs were kept to a minimum, but it serves his purpose well - to re-educate people. Great basic nutritonal primer. No matter which chapter you turn to, you will be regaled with his basic tenet - dogs need FRESH, RAW food (mostly raw, meaty bones) EVERY DAY to be healthy their whole lives.

Our Struggles
To me ' TIN SOLDIERS ' is like a biography of a Greek teenager growing up . Soccer, emotions and most of all, PRIDE is what counts especially when around friends. Although Michael is looking for his past, he is also trying to begin a new life using things he liked about his past personality to add to his new one along with strength and stability.

hmmm....
Well, this book wasn't BAD, per se...

But it really wasn't that good either. Not badly written, badly plotted or badly imagined. But, not good either. A little bit cool, but a little bit boring. Almost exciting, sometimes.

A mediocre read.

This Book was different
The reason I bought this book was because it was different. It was sorta confusing in the beginning and everything, but then I got used to it. I enjoyed the middle but toward the end I got knida bored. The way Ian Bone writes is good, and the characters are really funny in this book. I would recommened this book to someone who wants to read something much different.

Unique and interesting
Susan Bennett has been sent home from boarding school in disgrace after going one step too far and shaving her head. At home she is left to care for her older brother who the rest of her family calls Brian, but to Susan he will always be Neat. The rest of the knows Neat as the Silent Boy, so it is a huge surprise when he speaks for the first time in years. That single moment takes Susan, Neat, and their new friend Todd on a fast-paced adventure that no one seems to be able to control. An unforgettable novel.

I describe this novel as unforgettable because even though the writing isn't the best I have ever read, the characters and the way they interact makes it a very interesting read. The bizarre thing is I didn't like this novel that much when I started it, but I couldn't put it down, and the character of Neat refused to go away. While I wouldn't recommend this book to everyone, if you like something a little different, a book that is unique and creates its own identity - then this is the book for you. There are parts of this book that make you sit up and take notice, and there are parts of the novel when you just sit back and wonder at this boy who has become this icon for the world - and the sister who is so angry at her parents.

If you have read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, or most of the Chris Crutcher books - then you should enjoy this book too.
