two inches thick, the size of your hand, and is covered in a classic
black cover. This is one stylish little package. The book feels good
in your hands. If you saw it on a coffee table you would reach out for
it instinctively.

"The Book of Answers" is a book of
mystery, you are instantly intrigued when you see its unique size and
the first thing you will think will be: "What is that book
about!" I first saw this book sitting on a shelf. I was one of
the last people to a book signing party. They were just putting the
books away, when I became intrigued. I walked over and found the last
Autographed copy...as if it was waiting for me.

I opened the book
and saw a few words on each page. What I didn't realize was that I had
to ask a question first, and then open the book! Fortunately Carol
Bolt was there to save me and explained how the book worked. Carol
Bolt is one of the nicest authors I have ever met. She is just as fun
to talk to as her book is to read.

As soon as I knew the secret of
how to play with this new toy for my brain, I was laughing out
loud. Carol explained that it has the intrigue of a magic eight ball,
but unlike the magic ball, this book has so many more answers.

This
is the most amusing book I have ever found. It brings out the
mischievous kid or the thoughtful adult. In me, it brought out both
and the "little question box I used to be." Now, if only my
father had owned one of these books when I was a child.

You supply
all the questions, and then you can find one answer printed in capital
letters on each page. There are no page numbers so you can't
cheat. The only way you could try to cheat is to look up the answer
again. You will find that even that will not always work. Now, I will
say, this book told me the best answers anyone could have ever given
me. So much so, that I could feel chills going down my spine. It will
scare you when the answer is so near to the truth.

The instructions
are on the back of the cover on a removable sticker and are also in
the front of the book. You place your hand on the cover, reflect on a
question, and then when it feels right you choose a page and read the
answer.

Now you should be careful what you ask! The answer might
be: "Get it in writing," "You'll have to
compromise," "Keep an open mind," "Watch and see
what happens," "Only do it once," etc.

My husband
asked: "Will I make more money at my new job." The answer:
"In a year from now, it won't matter!" Now that leads to
another question! Why?

The idea for "The Book of Answers"
came from the advice her parents gave to her while she was growing
up. She told me it holds "all the answers to her life." Now,
that convinced me to buy it! You will instantly recognize this as a
book of wisdom. Carol first self-published 130 copies of her book in
February 1998. She then easily found a publisher. This is why I have
the belief that life is a journey. Sometimes you have to follow your
own path to success!

When I asked the book: Will we have a new president soon? The answer was: "It is Certain." I cheated and
asked the same question again...to my astonishment...I found the same
answer! Apparently, that answer is in the front and the back of the
book. Now, what is the chance of that happening? (Back to the book)
"The chance will not come again soon."

I will be
introducing this book to my family this Christmas. Oh what fun we are
all going to have! What a way to top off a year of finding great
books. Now this one is going to the top of my favorites list! You can
also really give this book to anyone!

Carol's second book, "The
Literary Book of Answers," contains all the solutions and answers
you need from famous works of literature. Why not have William
Shakespeare tell you the answer to your pressing question. Carol, who
is also an artist, is working on a third book, which I know is going
to be excellent.

This book is a hoot. After using it to answer mundane questions, (Should you drive or fly? Must we leave now?) dare explore your dreams--Move to Tibet? Texarkana? Will I make my goal of millions by sundown? At board meetings, family roundtables, parties, or as an icebreaker--however we use "The Book of Answers", it fuels what may already be in our heads, in our hearts, or at our fingertips. What makes it hilarious, is this book's voice. Bolt has captured wisdom's funnybone.

I laughed right out loud when I opened it. At last, ANSWERS, not just more QUESTIONS, brief and on only one page at that! I looked around me to see if my outburst had been noticed, then, following the directions on the back, I "asked" the question that had been on my mind that day. When the "time was right," as directed, I opened the book and there was my answer: "You are too close to see." I thought about this instant wisdom. Not bad, and a whole lot cheaper than $175 an hour!

Loves me? loves me not. No disappointing answers anywhere in this latest book of answers. It solved what to give for the holidays and wedding showers, and now Valentine's day. The BoA was great hit at two parties -- a real icebreaker in 1-on-1 discussions about taking chances on 'love'.

If you love the look and feel of books, "Love's Book of Answers" offers a weighted feel and a sexy smooth scarlet satin cover. The answers are all between the covers.

The first time I saw one of Carol's books I was instantly intrigued. When I picked up the book I had no idea how to use it. Of course, I'm not known for reading instructions. However, once you realize you are playing a "foretelling the future" game, it becomes an enjoyable treat. I don't take this too seriously. It is more for amusement value.

First you ask a yes/no type question while holding the book and concentrating on your question for a few seconds.

Then you place one hand palm down on the book's front cover and open the book when you feel the time is right.

The page you see will contain your answer.

So, I ask the book: "Will I have a romantic evening tonight?" Answer: "Watch out for Clinging Vines."

Since I love towers and castles this was amusing. Could this mean a handsome knight will climb up into the tower?

Answer: "Use your imagination."

Again, I ask: "Does my lover love me truly and deeply." Answer: "You're in hot water; make bubbles."

Mmm, I got that twice even on the second try the same page appeared. The fact that I asked about "deeply" and the answer contained the word "water" was interesting. Will I soon own a jacuzzi tub?

Answer: "Allow room for surprises."

I love Carol's books because they really work for me. She produced the original Book of Answers in 1998 and the book was then published commercially later that same year. It went on to become a best-seller.

Mysterious little books that intrigue the mind.

Great for entertainment at parties, this fun work is broad fodder for essays and free writes, even thematic use in the classroom.  The author's selections from favorite and noted sources flash timeless words of wisdom to the user.  This slant on her concept of a book of answers is catchy.  Fight the urge to read ahead. A perfect gift for students, book clubs, or anyone who has ever been in a library. -- Ellen

This book is written with passion for the beautiful and delicate things from our earth. The description of gardens are with loving care for the nurishment of the garden master and casual observer. Significant technical information is presented with a gentle touch. Wildflowers in your Garden explains how to create different gardens. Information is included about wildflowers and their revelance to the garden. It seems that the author is expressing her life in the story of these gardens and their creation.

My copy of "The Garden Primer" is worn, tattered, and never on the shelf with the rest of my gardening books. I refer to Barbara's sage advice for everything. It's has allowed me to try new plants, techniques, and garden designs - all without feeling I don't know what I'm doing. It's like having a master gardener watching over you.

Be forewarned though - she writes most (if not all) of her gardening experience from a Connecticut/zone 5 background. Those in the desert regions of Arizona may find most her advice useless.

Buy it - you'll never need another gardening book again.

I find this book (for I keep it close at hand) a very readable source of basics as well as practical advice. It answers questions for the beginning gardener that may seem obvious to someone who has learned gardening at the side of a master gardener. In fact, it is a bit like learning gardening at the elbow of the gardener as she lovingly and expertly tends her plants: from mulching, to staking, to figuring out whether to compost or not.

As a novice gardener, this is the first book I've found that covers all my questions - from staking raspberries to planning a shade garden - in detailed but not tecnical lanquage. If I could only have one gardening book (my husband wishes) this would be it.

Either it didn't work for me, I'm stupid, or it's a piece of [junk]. Because when I asked it questions, I got stupid answers that no one would understand!

"The Movie Book of Answers" compiled by Carol Bolt is pretty much a cross between Bartlett's Famous Quotations and The Magic 8 Ball. The process for using this volume is the same with which Virgil's epic poem "The Aeneid" was used in ancient times: you hold the book closed, take 10-15 seconds to concentrate on a closed-end question, stroke the edge of the pages (yes, that is in the instructions) and when you sense the time is right, you open the book and PRESTO the right answer will be there before you.

I have to tell you in all truth and honesty that Virgil worked a lot better for me than this volume. Maybe I am not stroking it the right way, who knows? I read Rebecca's review and of the great success she has had with this volume and I think "Will she like this review?" and I ask the book and it comes back with "Oh Yes, You Can...You Must" (Captain Von Trapp: "The Sound of Music"). I am so confused (Grandfather: "Moonstruck"--I am just quoting here, I do not know if it is really in this book). Maybe I am just under a curse. Did I mention that Virgil works really well for me? I tried it again: "Will Amazon.com edit this review?" and the books says, "[You] can never go back" (Narrator: "Rebecca"). Wait! There's a link! If only I was asking about Rebecca when I got the "Rebecca" quote.

Maybe I am just one off here by one. Wouldn't THAT be ironic?

Look, I happen to like The Magic 8 Ball and I like movie quotes, so this is a great combination in the tradition of peanut butter and chocolate. Maybe I am just under a curse. That would explain why I am having all these problems.

This one gives even better answers than the first two, to the point where I am starting to wonder if I am being watched when I ask the book a question. The answers I kept getting for the first question finally concluded in me reading: "Anything you do could have serious repercussions on future events."
