Do You Know What Bloomers Are?
Do you know what bloomers are? Well, if you don't, read the book YOU FORGOT YOUR SKIRT, AMELIA BLOOMER! Amelia is a girl who hates dresses! Amelia was not a proper lady! Amelia thought proper ladies were silly. She thought it was silly that ladies could not work! So she started her own newspaper. She thought it was even sillier that ladies had to wear big, heavy dresses. So she did something about it! My favorite part is when she made the bloomers and wore them. She sort of looked silly and sort of looked cool. I really liked this book because I learned a lot about Women's History. I learned what bloomers are too! And if you want to know what bloomers are...then read this book! - By Danielle S. Age 7

Our Very Favorite Book!
My young daughter *adores* this book - we read it over and over and over. She LOVES Amelia Bloomer, loves the story, loves the whimsical and wonderful artwork, and NEVER tires of reading this book! [Neither do I - which is really saying something!]

This is a great introduction to the women's rights movement without being anti-male or overbearingly feminist.

Amelia Bloomer is a wonderful heroine and my daughter never tires of emulating her. She even requested some bloomers to wear which led me to an internet search for "real" bloomers [which we found!] and she loves wearing them under her dresses now.

This book is so much fun to read and look at - it is just Fabulous all the way around!

You Forgot Your Skirt Amelia Bloomer
Amelia Bloomer was not a proper lady. All the other ladies thought she was ridiculous. she would protest, start her own buisnesses with other women. Amelia Bloomer was always looking for a way to fight for womens rights, and to change the way women had to dress. But the world just wan't ready for Amelia Bloomer yet. Until one day when her friends cousin brought somthing amazing into Amelias life. It was a different type of dress . It had pants. Amelia was amazed by this outfit. right away she made her own. Pretty soon women all over the world wanted to wear (what Amelia called) Bloomers. They made then in plaid, blue, pink, and many other designs and colors. Amelia Bloomer made a big differenc for women. to find out what else dhe did for women read this book. i think you'll love it

The story of Amelia Bloomer, fighter for women's rights
This juvenile biography of Amelia Bloomer tells the story of her life long fight for women's rights and against the use of alcohol. This will probably impress the young readers for whom Mary J. Lickteig's small volume is targeted since her notoriety as the person for whom "bloomers" were named will probably mean nothing to them (even if kids know the term I do not think they associate bloomers with the style of baggy pants popularized, but not invented, by Amelia Bloomer). Bloomer is something of a second tier figure in the history of the fight for women's rights, but she does represent one of the most successful professional women of her day as editor/publisher of "The Lily," a newspaper for women. The back of Lickteig's book, which has photographs/illustrations on the left and text on the right of each spread, includes some nice quotations from Bloomer and a time line of her life. The Read and Discover series of Photo-Illustrated Biographies also offers volumes on other leading figures in the women's rights movement: Susan B. Anthony, Lurcretia Mott, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

Bloomer History
This is an interesting book about reform dresser and editor, Amelia Bloomer. It is well illustrated and easily read for children. It would be a good addition fo school libraries.
