Great introduction for beginnners, reminder for experienced
This book is a must for all beginners moving into the world of management, and I highly recommend it as a refresher course for those of us who have been doing it for a while. I do not have an MBA, but I do have a number of years' real-world experience in management, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very light and easy to read, and although much of it seems like it should be common sense, there are a number of things that are easy to forget, and it's worth the refresher. I skipped some chapters because they were too basic, but I probably read 2/3 of the book (in the matter of a business trip) and actually did learn some new information.

Simple and concrete guide on being a manager.
I found the reading of this book pretty rewarding. I recommned this book to all those who are looking for a quick guide on being a manager. On the other hand, those looking for new approaches on management may find this book too simple.

Skip the MBA and read this book! Save $40,000
First, this book is a "fun" read which is unusual for most business books. If you want to know how mananagement thinks and how it works in most corporate environments today - get this book.

The first half is execellent and by the time it's completed you'll know exactly the way your poor boss has been tramautized over the past 10 years with all the new passing management fads. No wonder management is basically skeptical and seems to have a schizophrenic identity crisis.

The second half of the book hangs a bit, maybe the authors ran out of ideas. But the final Index of the 10 essential management books is invaluable. I've already read 3 of the suggestion.

Read this book. Take your boss to lunch, realize how trapped he really is, get a raise, and save $40,000 on your MBA. Just keep reading and reading books like this.

Trash, but page-turning trash.
I guess I wasn't looking for real literature when I picked up this book, but then again I was looking for something a little less....well, fluffy. The characters were all two-dementional (barely) and stereotypical (you could pick out the bad guys from their first words), the story was contrived (you spend the first few pages waiting for the mighty to fall and then spent the rest of the time waiting around until they come back to the top), and the glimse into the real world of modeling I expected was something I'd read in a tabloid or seen on E! many times before....however I was sucked in until the end. The sub-plots weren't finely woven additions to the story, but simply after-thoughts added to assist the ending. Borrow this for mindless reading on the beach...don't waste your money.

This is an exciting peek into the structure behind modeling.
I thought The Look was an excellent book and I just recommended it to a friend. It is surprising and original and I'm glad I got the chance to read it.

Awesome book
This book has kept me going like no other book I have ever read. Nina Blanchard does an excellent job of exposing th real modeling world. The characters and storyline are so real you wouldn't know it was fiction. I definately would recoend this boo to anyone.

Expensive, but a lot of useful information
A CD-Rom jammed with articles from EXECUTIVE EXCELLENCE. I actually got my copy as a bonus for subscribing a couple of years ago. Many of the articles are interesting, but they are all quite short, almost MTV-ish. This seems to be the preferred style for this publication. If you are a fan of Warren Bennis, or one of the writers who regularly contribute to that publication, this is a good way to pick up some new material from your favored writer. The articles are on a variety of topics, which means that there will probably be something for everyone with an interest in this subject, but by the same token, there will be a lot that won't interest you. The CD includes a search engine that is workable. I benefitted from the magazine and the CD, but they didn't set my world on fire.
