Fantastic reading for fledgling readers!
I am delighted to see at least some of the Monster Books being re-released! I have been teaching remedial reading for almost 20 years and these books have been a centerpiece of my second grade program. I have even made a large stuffed purple monster to go with the books. The kids love to read the Monster books to Monster and to chart their progress and receive an award and prize when they complete the set. I wish both Set I and Set II would be reprinted as my copies in both sets are wearing out and I can't imagine teaching reading without them. The kids love them and Monster's quirky antics are not dated in spite of the 20 years that have passed since the books were first published by Bowmar.

Great beginner books!
I remember very clearly reading these books as a small child when I first learned to read. They even motivated me to help in my elementary school's library, keeping the books neatly organized so that I could always read the Monster story for the mood each day. I only wish that they were in print so that I could share them with my daughter now. They are great confidence-builders, engaging and sweet.

Monster Series a Hit With Kids
As a mother and an educator of young minds, I find the Monster Books set to be a wonderful collection. Each of the twelve books in this series introduces the child to new characters and concepts which are then carried over into the next, developing both an interesting story and an anxious reader. The words are simple with repitition among phrases, giving the beginning reader a chance at practicing and mastering those words. The pictures are uncomplicated and colorful, just what any 3-5 year-old would enjoy.

In closing, the Monster Series is a great collection of skinny little books, just long enough for a quick pre-bedtime read. My 3-year-old can't get enough of them, and I believe she will soon be reading them on her own.
