Does anybody know?
If it is possible to secure The Paris Review - Interview with writers published by Penguin through the 1970's and 80's

fantastic read
The Paris Review is the best literary magazine around (even though they've rejected all of my stories). But anyway, the interview and stories are top notch. I love the blend of unknown writers and famous writers. This issue is especially good, for it's a concept issue, "New British Writing." The forum is excellent, with each author asked to give their opinion on, of course, the state of "British" literature. Furthermore, George Plimpton is very inspiring. Just reading an issue wants to make you write better or start your own magazine.

Peacemaker Bounty
If you have yet to read any of these books, you should hesitate no further. This is an absolute great series of books by Mr. Blair. Jim and Prudence will stick in your heart and will make you remember how it first felt to be in love. They are great. The action is wonderful, the banter if fun! This is a two thumbs up book!!

Why White Flame will keep you up at night
By the time I got to page three, I knew I would be up all night, every night, till I read this book to the end. An arresting plot twists around characters so real you fight to catch your breath with them on a rollercoaster ride of conspiracy, betrayal, and murder. These are real people with ideals, hopes, nightmares, and regrets which are tried by fire in the crucible that is White Flame. No one, not even the reader, is left unchanged by the end. Jim Grady's insider knowledge of Washington politics lends a chilling reality to it all. This story is so plausible, you almost expect to read about it in your morning paper. I won't give away any of the plot; you must experience that for yourself. If you like John Grisham, Tom Clancy, or any other writers in the genre, you'll LOVE White Flame. I read one of Grady's previous books, Thunder, when it was first released. If that was thunder, this is lightning!

Great book for anyone looking for "something more"
This is an excellent anthology of essays by many accomplished scholars (see the list of names above). Some are psychotherapists, some former ministers, and some psychiatrists; many are simply inspirational writers. This is a calming book with eclectic selections that will suit most tastes.

This is a book you will refer to over and over again!
I picked up this book when I was at a low point in my life. It awakened me to a new way of seeing - both myself and the world around me. Handbook for the soul is a wonderful collection of short essays, by various people, all with the same message. It is one of my most favourite books and I highly recommend it!

Thought provoking essays on the soul.
Anything Richard Carlson lays his hands on is worth considering reading. Each essay offers a philsophical view worth pondering guiding the perseptive reader closer to the inner self. The wealth of information well surprasses the few dollars spent on this compilation.

Wooden Fences
Good book--alot of good pictures and useful information. However when it came to actually building the fence, I felt his methods were way to complicated in many instances.

Beautiful, Informative Book for Planning & Building a Fence
George Nash's writing, with the aid of former National Geographic photographer James P. Blair, expounds on the history and great variety of fences. Although primarily about wooden fences, he does touch on rock, iron and wire fences in the discussion of the history of fencing.

Nash points out the many reasons for fencing, from the practical to the ornamental and how each type may be designed and constructed. He explains the reasoning and functionality of purpose-built fences very clearly.

There is also great technical detail, from how to pick materials to how to layout and set fence posts. There are clear diagrams of common fence joinery and shop tips for making the various components. Do's and don'ts in design are pointed out. Repairs and maintenance are also discussed.

Although there are no measured drawings, the aspect ratio of the "golden rectangle" is presented to aid you in making an attractive, as well as functional, fence. The rich plethora of color photographs and clear diagrams depicting an incredible variety of designs will inspire, or perhaps confound you, with ideas to build your own fence.

The only problem with this book is that there are so many great ideas, it's hard to pick just one!

This is a fine treatise on fences

I wanted to see some examples of privacy fences of various materials, since I am planning one for our back yard.

This book is replete with photographs, drawings and text covering all sorts of fences, with ideas galore for enhancing your home. Most of the fences depicted are wooden, and I have opted for a vinyl model, but nevertheless the book is a splendid effort and worthwhile for anyone who is thinking of putting up a fence, either for decoration, security, or privacy.

Good book, but not great
The photographs are beautiful. There are fewer of them than in most other Romanov photo collections, but then, I haven't seen most of them elsewhere, either. One quibble is that several of the photographs seem to be mistakenly identified-- which daughter is which, and so forth. Slightly annoying. The book could also have done with more accompanying text and descriptions. Most pages contain just one or two photographs with brief captions.

It was good.
It was a good book, but I hate it how they kept getting the Grand Duchesses mixed up, and they called Marie Olga and Olga Marie, it was very annoying.

I loved it!
This book has some of the rarest photographs taken from the family's private albums. Most of the photographs come from Maria and Alexandra's Album.

Rainbow Fish and the Big Blue Whale ~ Marcus Pfister
THis is a good book on not judging people by the first impression. PEople thses days have to learn not to judge epople by looks. Just becasue someone looks different doesn't mean they are different. IF someone is bigger than you, it doesn't make them a bully. A lot of people make stereotype's and think people are mean because of their size. Yet they have to that it whats on the inside that counts.

We all judge people at one time or another, its natural. We just have to learn to except people for who they are. I like this book because it shows how people treat others in modern life. This book shows how to except others. I also like it because judging is not a good think, it the good qualities we need to look for i a person, not the bad ones.

Rainbow Fish and the Big Blue Whale
This book, a continuation of the Rainbow Fish series, is about a group of fish with shiny scales. They live near a Coral reef and eat all the krill they want. One day, a big blue whale came. He started eating the krill, and staring at the fish. The fish are afraid that they will become whale food! How will Rainbow Fish and his friends deal with the whale? Read this book by Marcus Pfister to find out!

lots of lessons taught
I love this story. ... I think it teaches lots of lessons. For example, it teaches how it is wrong to make snap judgements about others. It also teaches how to work out differences, and meet with people that are different.

Not for developers!
This text is very insightful and wounderfully written, however, I would consider using this book solely for lectures and theory. There are very few examples and and many topics are simply glossed over. If you would like to have a great deal of "head knowledge" in regards to PowerBuilder, this is the text for you. If you are a hands on developer, this book will leave you stranded, smart, but stranded! If you have a need to go into a meeting knowing all the buzz-words and PowerBuilderees, buy this book.

If you want to develop systems for your clients, keep surfing!

The author did say that "this is not a tutorial", he's right, it's not a tutorial, it's not even a reference text. Save your money!

Excellent book. Worth reading cover to cover.
I almost did not buy this book. I read the reviews and the book received a pretty bad review from one reader. Fortunately I found it in the book store and took a look at it - I was impressed. This is a pratical book for experienced developers, not Sybase promotional literature. It covers a lot of advanced material (with examples) and the authors seem to speak from experience. I took a look at the reviews again an noticed the poor review was from a reader in public school. So I guess I you should not buy this book if you are learning PowerBuilder. I DO recommend the book for experienced developers.

I really found this book useful.
There are in-depth chapters on distributed PowerBuilder applications and building multi-lingual applications. These two topics are of interest to me. The chapters walked me through all the steps to distribute an application and to make our application multi-lingual. There are a lot of samples and the code is really simple to follow. There is also a lot of coverage of other "Enterprise" issues.

Clever, Exciting, and Fun
What a fun book! I have found, from reading many Patterson books, that his novels have increasingly gotten more and more unpredictable and exciting. I love the way that the people that you think "dunnit" are the wrong people and how he makes the villains in his books people that you would never guess could do it. All of these different mediums that Patterson uses culminates in "Jack & Jill." I would recommend it along with all of his other books, even the early ones.

Jack and Jill climbed way up the Hill
B.S Readers in Cleveland We all agreed that James Patterson's book, Jack and Jill was a good book. The suspense kept us into it and wanting to read more. We liked the interweaving of the two plots in one story. Different killers made the story interesting and more challenging to read. Patterson really made us think. Every time we thought we had figured something out, the plot gets twisted. (The best was the twist when Cross found the "supposed" Truth School killer dead.) The one thing that was very disappointing was the end. It seemed as if Patterson rushed through it. However, by dangling the plot, there is room for a sequel. We were angered that Patterson didn't reveal the motive of the killers. Also, the CIA is always involved in conspiracies and we felt it wasn't dumb to include it in the story. We did like how Alex Cross had more to him than just detective work. By including the kids, it showed that he was human and had feelings.

James Patterson just keeps getting better!
I loved Kiss the Girls and Along Came A Spider, and felt that Jack and Jill was a continuation of a look into one mans life. Patterson created a terrific character in Alex Cross. I can't wait for the next Cross book.
