PANKRATION COMBAT A REAL TEST OF STRENGTH & ENDURANCE
PANKRATION: THE ULTIMATE GAME reflects the ancient but brutal sport of Pankration combat. It had but one rule & everything else was allowed even fighting to the death and/or maiming one's rival. .... The rules of combat are defined in the book. The book has an intriguiing love story which causes two cadets to fight for the same woman both men desperately crave.

Uh, Wow: A Book About Barf
Holy cow! It's a book on vomiting in outer space!

If you're under 14 (mentally and emotionally, which after all is most of us), you'll love these multifaceted stories about puking, ralphing, and giving up the lunch. Plus, they all take place on a journey to Vomitrius 9, the galaxy just beyond view of the Hubble Space Telescope, reported to have a planet just like Earth in it, except it's circling two suns and all the oceans and rivers and raindrops are pure vodka, and the only edible fruit is the orange.

This book probably shouldn't be taken on long car trips unless you parents out there want to answer a lot of questions about alcohol poisoning and the dangers of underage drinking.

The book contains graphic recipes for what to do with all-natural vodka and an endless supply of oranges.

Oustanding, thought-provoking reading for 10-13 yr olds
Blacklock has written a collection of very short stories highly suitable for reluctant boy readers. Very funny and very absorbing. Ideas flow across the pages like pearls

A funny look at old sporting legends
Here is a book that links the modern olympics with the ancient olympics. Funny and full of amazing facts, it is also an eyeopener to the way we played sport 3000 years ago and the fact that some things never change. Excellent for anyone preparing a project on the Olympics, this book will appeal to all ages. It entertains while informing.

Fabulous Illustrations
A word about the illustrations in this book: As someone with a background in cartoon and illustration, art history, (and the son of an art dealer), I was extremely impressed by Mr.Kennett's illustrations. The pen drawings blow me away. His mastery of pen rendering, human and animal anatomy, composition, "camera" angles, balancing whites, greys and blacks, the way he varies--almost seems to be experimenting with varying rendering and textural effects--from drawing to drawing, is astonishing. Also, while the drawings have a "modern" feel to them, they capture the romance and atmosphere of older time illustrators such as NC Wyeth, or Howard Pyle. Pen drawings with a technical fountain pen or similar instrument can look skillful, but sterile. These don't. Also, many current illustrators and artists who draw in a realistic or quasi realistic style, though their work is admirable, look very obviously like their work is traced over or very closely based on photographs. These most certainly don't. This guy can really draw. Wonderful stuff.

A GOOD BOOK
This was a good book, more so for someone much younger, but I did enjoy it anyhow. If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A gift to be cherished forever.

COPY OR NOT?read both of the stories and find out!!!!!
The storyline from the story "Crab Bait" from the book "Crab Bait" and the storyline of the story "Shark Bait" from an earlier book of Dyan Blacklock's titled "Commit Vommit" are too much alike. Here is evidence to back up my opinion; The shark in the story "Shark Bait"is replaced by a crab,In both stories there are two boys doing something daring and why they are doing it is to find out if a story that they heard is true,In both stories they find proof for the story that they heard. So there they are, that's all the evidence I found to back up my opinion. I suggest that you read both stories to really convince yourselve.
