Some Good Ideas
As the book title implies, the text is truly geared toward the small business. I found that the ideas were most applicable to the more common small businesses (e.g. restaurants, insurance agencies, etc.) than mine (engineering consulting). However, the book still had some unique suggestions that I had not thought of. Overall, worth reading.

Variety of Good Marketing Ideas
I just opened a business and this is the third book I've bought on how to market my business. The other two had a few good ideas, but nothing like this one. This book has a wide range of ideas on how to market your business and some of them you can even make money while you're doing it. I'm recommending this book to a couple of friend who are going into business together after the first of the year.

WOW!! Really Unique Marketing Ideas.
I have reviewed a lot of books over the last several years and considering that I also own a small business, I am always interested in new marketing books that come out and promise new strategies. Most of them just make me yawn. They usually rehash old material from other books and don't have any thing new. This book promises unique ideas and it delivers!

The stories at the beginning of each chapter are very entertaining and I could relate to several of them, but what really impressed me is the amount of material about ideas I have never heard of or read about any where before.

Who would have thought that you can get free yellow page ads, or get paid to promote a business on TV or radio, get free ads in national magazines, license a celebrity to promote a business, get labor unions to send their members to a business, start a 3rd party association that will refer business or send out direct mail for free. These are all ideas I have never seen in any other marketing book.

Then to top it off, the Bishop's are giving away a free small business. WOW!! Do they know how to promote or what? They get my vote for marketers of the year.

His views are not based on medical facts.
I heard Dr. Shannon speak at Wayzata Community Church on Nov. 3, and found that when I asked him questions about how the medical facts of the pill work, he was unable to discuss the matter, apparaently from a lack of knowledge. He supports birth control, but has no idea how the primary effect of the pill is to keep the fertilized egg from implanting on the uterus, which is an abortion that is usually unknown to the woman as it will not cause a disruption in her cycle.

Confusing
Very confusing timeline. It is difficult to understand exactly what transpired in his mind, and how the whole story fits together.

Reluctant Dissenter
I found this autobiography among the best 5% of books that I have ever read. The author has spent his life as a highly motivated, dedicated idealist. His insights are valuable to me in my own development. His unusual abilities and remarkable personal humility are an unusual combination. As a Roman Catholic, I found that he dealt with some of the Roman Catholics' most difficult problems with the church hierarchy in a charitable and inspiring fashion. His enthusiasm, courage, and optimism in the face of unexpected attacks on his work from his own church should lead us all to an enthusiasm and vision of the church which is positive for the world, the church, and ourselves.
