This is a very good book that covers one of the few Russian films to make an international success in recent years. The book gives a detailed, moment by moment analysis of the film, covering not only the image on screen, the dialogue, the music, but also explaining the implications of this.

Also, the author goes into the making of the movie, why it was cast the way it was, how the English-subtitled version differs from the Russian version, and the varied Russian response to the film and its director. An outstanding job all the way around.
