Informative, entertaing teaching stories
I used this book to introduce my private-school, sixth grade students to some Jewish holidays. The stories are clear, entertaining, and accurate, explaining the history and religious reasons for each holiday without being educationally or spiritually overwhelming. They are written with love and care; even my non-Jewish students remembered and referred to the stories throughout the year. This book is a treasure!
An excellent book!
Good books on Jewish traditions and heritage are very hard, if not almost impossible, to find. This book is easy to read and understand - for adults and children alike.
Wonderful!
This has proven to be the perfect book to help our own (Catholic) children learn about the holidays our Jewish friends and neighbors celebrate throughout the year. Thank you, Gilda Berger and Peter Catalanotto!

Not Just for Arachnid Lovers!
Do you know how to tell if a tarantula is in its burrow? How about how far a jumping spider really jumps? This book is great for any home or classroom. Children love to learn facts about their environment and I'm sure that they would love this book. I found this book to be fun and educational... I even loved it!

The Wonderful Men in Their Flying Machines.
This book answers many questions children have concerning flight. It is written in a simple matter and is wonderfully illustrated. The book not only explains how airplanes fly, but also gives a brief history of flight, and introduces new vocabulary words chidren may not have heard before. I used this book as the foundation of a science unit I taught my preschoolers about airplanes.

Review of Why Don't Haircuts Hurt
This book is really great for teaching kids how the body works. I like how it is written in question and answew form. It makes learning about the body understandable for children as well as interesting. The book covers all the questions that kids always ask about the body. I was impressed with how much information the book covered and how well it was presented. I'm sure kids of all ages will enjoy this book.

GREAT LIDDLE BOOK WITH FUN FACTS!!
This book contains some really wild facts about weather & weird & odd natural causes. Its a great book aside from the exclamation points at the end of sentences stating that thousands of people died.
This book is split into sections of:
-Weird Weather
-Castastrophies Big & Little
-The Violent Earth
Along with paragraphs explaining each odd event, (almost) every page has a "Laugh Line" or "Didja Know." I encourage you to get this book, filled with fun facts.
Great for children--and adults, too!
I became fascinated with this book when my friend and I had an ongoing bet about whether or not it could really rain frogs, like it did in the popular movie "Magnolia". This book helped me win the bet, and also helped me brush up on really interesting weather facts. Great knowledge for a great price!
Good Book!
This is a great book about natural disasters. The facts in it are weird and captivate my imagination. All books I have read in this series are intriguing. Once I start reading them I can't put them down.

4 ½* A Fun Book About Electrical and Mechanical Phenomena
Someone calls this an "odd combination," why, what child isn't fascinated by toilets? The book offers excellent, non-technical explanations for kids with enough detail to keep things interesting. For example, the telephone section (15 pages) mentions sound waves, diaphragms, and radio waves; the television section concisely explains the mixing of color light waves, as well as the transmitter, the antenna, and cable TV, and the section on toilets not only contains a sly reference to Virginia Woolf's "Flush," but explains the basic mechanics of the handle, the float, the rubber stopper, the septic tank, and the plunger (when things get stuck). A nice combination of whimsy and fact, this is an excellent book for the young scientist and the merely curious. Adults may learn from it as well. With 47 pages, simple (but not "amateurish") illustrations, and a one-page index!
Three Things That Start With "T".
This book gives an easy-to-understand explanation of how telephones, televisions, and toliets work. The book is written for children, but adults can benefit from reading this book as well (I often understand a subject better by reading a "children's" book on the subject). The book contains some cartoonish illustrations that make the explantions less dry and there are also several diagrams that make the technical knowledge much easier to understand. The three subjects in the book not only all start with the letter "t", but they also all function in a cyclical fashion. This is a great science book for young kids and is sure to spark some sort of interest into technology in a youngster's mind.

Lovely introduction to Jewish Holidays
Aimed at intermediate or slightly older readers (but also could be read aloud to younger readers) this is an excellent introduction to the major Jewish holiday, including traditional ways to celebrate the holidays, recipes, activities and history. Adults as well as children are likely to learn something new about each holiday - I know I did!
Do Tornadoes Really Twist?: Questions and Answers about Tornadoes and Hurricanes

A real twist
I really enjoyed reading this book with my class for information about tornadoes and hurricanes. The book presents many facts about these storms in a very kid friendly way. the format for the book is questions and answers. The book provides just enough information to keep it interesting for student readers. The pictures are not real, but are realistic. I like how the authors write a note in the beginning of the story inviting the reader to read their book. This book will be appealing for students in the upper elementary grades. It is a good beginning book for research.
